The service is surly. Quite rude when they turn you away (we wanted to sit outside and she discouraged us from waiting for something to open up). This happened to my husband a couple of weeks ago on a business lunch. It was chaotic and they were turned away. Food GOOD, outside seating is lovely. Our waitress was good when we did eat there. We stopped with our boat at the Shingobee Bay restaurant. They were not busy but were unsure whether they could seat us because we didn't have reservations. They sat us outside and then ignored us until we left. No menus, no nothing. Waitress seated several other tables around us and just gave us the "look" every time she walked by. The food was good but the wait staff was HORRIBLE. We were seated at a high top table right at the bar. There were only 3 people in our party. The person that took our order asked if we wanted an appetizer after we requested one. Once our food finally came they never check back with us to see if we needed anything. We had to flag them down. At the end of the meal they gave us our bill. When one of the people in our party asked if they would split the bill the wait staff rolled her eyes at us and sighed loudly. We boated to Shingobee on the Bay today. Very attentive staff, the dock personnel was awesome. We walked in and had beer within a minute. We ordered the special; it was the fish and chips, awesome value and great fish. Great view, great food and awesome staff and really cold beer. read more

Great location! Very nice inside! Food was good. This place could be the best place in Walker but it is soooo horribly managed. The wait staff just chilled behind the bar and talks about how one cook doesn't wear gloves. The cooks do a good enough job but have 0 direction in what order to cook food so it doesn't sit under the heat lamp. Basically looks like every employee was hired by blackmail and cannot be reprimanded. They must all get paid pretty well per hour because I would doubt they get many good tips. If you who manages this place you might want to give them a kick in the nuts and tell them to worry less about the slot machine play and more about how you train their employees. read more

Hadn't been here before and we stopped on a whim. Masks are required until seated. Staff, wearing masks and gloves, took our temp, and even stoped a delivery man coming through and insisted he have his temp taken. We didn't have the required reservation but they had a table open (outdoor seating). Beautiful view, drinks and food came quickly and as ordered. The food was delicious! I had the walleye sandwich and my husband had the fish and chips with wild rice soup. We staff cleared a table while we were there and we noticed they spayed and disinfected the table and chairs. I don't know what the low reviews are about. The staff was also very courteous and friendly. We will definitely be back when in the area. read more

This place has so much potential and unfortunately it is not being managed or run properly at all!!! We first walked in and were not greeted by anyone, we had to ask if we could sit outside, once outside there was not a single table cleaned off! A entire cart was full of dirty dishes outside as well. We went back inside to sit at the bar and every open table was also filthy!!! Covered in dishes and glasses and napkins from the last customers!!! Dirty dishes and glasses were stacked on the entire far side of the bar. The little food kiosks that hold mustard, ketchup, silverware, and napkins had been knocked over (about ten of them) and were just laying on the floor. For the entire time we were there no one even bothered to clean let alone acknowledge that the mess was there!!! No one helped us at all after waiting for 5 min and being completely ignored while surrounded by filth we left. Disgusting!!! read more

Beautiful interiors and layout (as it's the "new" place in Walker!!) but waiters walk right by you without asking if you need a table while stacks of dishes and half eaten sandwiches lay out in plain view: (meaning all of the freed up tables haven't been cleared!!). Gross! Even when we sat at the bar we were ignored for like 5 mins; as the bartenders chatted up customers. It wasn't even that busy at the bar! I had to finally raise my hand to get their attention. We almost left at that point but decided to only get a drink because we were grossed out by how dirty the tables/place looked. Lost our appetites. Either they are understaffed or the wait/bus staff are poorly trained and manager could care less. Won't be coming back for food; only maybe drinks and the slot machines. read more

My wife and I ate here last night. The walleye sandwich was the best I've ever had. Plentiful walleye and cooked with a very light breading that added flavor but not bulk or grease. It was also cooked just the right amount, keeping the fillet pieces flaky and firm. Most restaurants overcook the filets into mush. Not here! It was delicious. The service was also very pleasant and efficient. I recommend Shingobee and I will be back. read more

We stopped by twice during 4th of July week. The food is very good. The atmosphere is great. They were doing what they could during the busy time. But BEWARE - if you are just stopping in by boat do not put money in their slot machines. If your ticket will not print out they have no one there that can fix it . They need to call Northern Lights casino to send someone to fix it. How long do you want to wait for your $18.50 or $5.00 ticket? And who pockets your money when you decide not to wait? Food was OK. The menu is pretty limited. Burgers sound great BUT they are all 1/2 lb. That's just too much and wasting food or taking leftovers isn't a great choice. . They should offer smaller portions..like 1/4 lb. option that you can double up to the 1/2 lb. size. read more

Went to Shingobee on the Bay for the second time today. Was just as good today as a month ago. Food was great! Service was excellent. There were 9 of us and we were seated immediately. Our server was able to keep all our beer orders straight. The beer selection met all the needs of 9 beer snobs:-) Server was attentive yet not intrusive. The menu was not extensive, but did offer a nice variety. Will definitely be going back. read more

We came here tonight (Sunday) to check this place out as it looks nice from the road. The sign said to seat yourself so we proceeded to sit outside. We sat there for at least 15 minutes watching wait staff come and go, bring food out to the wrong table many times. At one point one of the waiters just stood outside and yelled what he had in his hand because he didn't know what table it went to. It appeared we were in camouflage because no one even looked our way or acknowledged us. Then the same waiter who had the food for the mystery table started to approach us, but then threw his hands in the air and went inside to clear a empty table who had no one waiting to sit there. It was like a three ring circus. It was at that point we decided we were going to get no service so left for the Lucky Moose down the street and were waited upon immediately and had a great dinner. The caveat to this is the couple who came to the Lucky Moose towards the end of our dinner and we started talking to them. They too had been at Shingobee and a fellow patron warned him about the service and advised him to leave. He approached the bar and the bartender told him they were closing down the kitchen.
