Made a reservation here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner via FB messenger, asking if they were open for outdoor dining on June 1st. Called day of to ask if we could move our reservation up by an hour. Got told we don't take reservations over FB messenger and they don't have us on their list. Well, whomever runs that page took it. We were still able to get a spot for an earlier reservation but didn't give me a lot of faith that things were going smoothly. Upon arrival, we were seated quickly. Then we waited awhile for our server to appear and get our drink order. I realize it's your first day back open, but missing staff when you only have a dozen tables shouldn't really be the case. We then got to eventually place our food order. I ordered the bbq sampler, boyfriend got the brisket dinner. Food was good, but not great. I thought the brisket was chewy, probably could've gone another couple hours in the smoker. The beans in my sampler were good but were so hot temperature wise I couldn't eat them and got them to go. The portions were definitely big and you get your money's worth, but I'll probably try another place next time I'm up by Park Rapids. read more

I was very impressed by this place. First of all, it made for a nice summer setting to sit, eat & drink outside on their front deck (also have a street level patio). It was a Monday night and the place was hopping. The menu had so many good options that all of us had difficulty deciding. I changed my mind several times and ended up ordering the The Sammich (Smoked brisket, bacon, swiss, bacon, fried egg, sourdough). I just had chips on the side, but tried someone's sweet potato tots and they were great. I wished I got to Nevis more often because I'd like to try many other things on this menu. read more

Food was pretty mediocre. Burnt ends should have a nice char and carmelization. These tasted like they cut a pot roast into cubes and put some bbq sauce on top. They were chilled, not at all hot. I had the beer cheese soup, again cold. The ribs were decent, really fatty but had good flavor and smoke. Husband had brisket, we asked for some fat to be included but there wasn't any and the brisket was really dry and overcooked. Pulled pork was okay. Wings were good. The service was good. The place looks cool and is clean. Lots of sport memorabilia. But for spending $110, the food should have been better. read more

Good BBQ joint (and other bar food, like burgers, nachos, etc). We ordered BBQ and I think it came out before we finished ordering. And there was a lot of it. Three sauce options: sweet, spicy/tangy, Carolina. The sweet was a little too sweet for me , but the hot/tangy (not that hot) and the Carolina were just how I like them. One caveat is it is first come, first serve seating. They have signs asking patrons not to sit at tables until after they are cleaned. We went in the off season where this was not a problem, but I imagine it can be in the summer. read more

Fun place to have a get together in Nevis. Mostly a bar with excellent food. Typically packed on the weekends (in a good way) in the summer.

In terms of food available in Nevis, this place is easily 5-stars. They're a lot of options to choose from but what they are known fir here is the BBQ, especially the brisket. It melts like butter in your mouth, so good. Our first time here I tried the Sammich and my wife had the Smoked Turkey Wrap. The Sammich is an interesting concoction of brisket, bacon, Swiss cheese, and a fried egg on top sandwiched between two thick slices of sourdough bread. Delicious and downright terrible for my arteries. Our table ordered a few BBQ samplers and they looked pretty darn good. The platters all got rave reviews by my family. The building is really neat. A lot of memorbilia from from local and state. Also plenty of fish trophies and hardwood. They also have an outdoor bar and porch area which is great for relaxing. The only thing I didn't like about my visit was paying an extra $2 for sweet potato tots. They were good but I think I got like 10, not worth the up-charge. Anyways, pretty darn good. read more

This place is pathetic. Employees with tough guy attitudes threatened us several times. Wait staff took forever making rounds, even though there were six people in the establishment. Charged us for a few extra beverages and refused to remove them. Waitresses are known to hook up with customers in the bathroom. 0 stars, won't return. read more

So I took a million photos in Nevis, but none at this fun indoor/outdoor restaurant. Great beer selection! And it was walking distance from the Shenanigans live music venue and of course... was beautiful out! When I was young, I had a lake cabin outside of Nevis and we used to walk up to Shenanigans (then a local breakfast hotspot) every weekend. It's good to see the town still thriving and such a wonderful small town stop in Minnesota. I definitely recommend checking the area out, maybe seeing the live music and ending your night at Iron Horse. Cause 10/10 would recommend. Great night. read more

Stopped through Nevis today on a drive out to lake country and boy were we amazed with the burgers we got! We saw the Iron Horse as I was trolling through Yelp the night before, knowing we'd be hungry and looking for a good burger and fries...definitely a place not to be missed! There's nothing really fancy about the Iron Horse, but that's totally fine. We weren't looking for fancy. Just really good food. We both had burgers -- a plane hamburger for my wife and the Rodeo burger for me (bacon, onion petals, sharp cheddar, and BBQ sauce). Delicious! The fries were also great. Well seasoned and crunchy! They also have a large selection of domestic and specialty beers, if you're in the mood for something to drink; and lost of other sandwiches and wraps too. If you are concerned about COVID-19, don't frequent this restaurant. Sadly, the person who appeared to be their manager found herself above the rules and does not wear a mask. She had hiccups as she served our drinks and her mouth was directly over our glasses. She walked up to customers (all required to wear masks) snd stood very close as she took seating info from them. All other staff was masked but this person had contact with everyone who entered. We heard others make similar comments about Iron Horse during our week-long stay. The food was average. read more

The food is not too bad. Burgers are pretty good. The BBQ is very tasty but there is way too much fat in the meat. Prime rib is delicious if you get a good piece. But they don't trim any fat so you are taking your chances. Wait times for carryout can be crazy long and they don't seem to care. No curbside delivery. We had reservations for a party of 12 last Saturday night, and I called around noon to confirm the headcount, time and that we would have a private room. We got there before the designated time, and no reservations. Fortunately, we were able to find seats, but if a group had been ahead of us we would have been out of luck. Their comment? I almost didn't and would have missed this amazing dish. I did not enjoy the Mule made with Crown I ordered. It lacked flavor and tasted like crown, seltzer over ice. Perhaps the ginger ale was out. Another in our party ordered a mule and had the same complaint and politely brought it up to the server. Her response was, well we made it so we probably can't exchange it. They did ultimately exchange for a cider. After witnessing this I was a good customer and drank my crown and soda.
