Hi what a dream and a half! I've been getting more into spirituality lately and after a pole class, I couldn't help but stop at this magnificent store. It has a great range of books, including some of my favorite authors like Brian L Weiss and Esther Hicks. They have every kind of book you can imagine, from tantric yoga to feng shui to herbalism and wicca. I love this place! Yes, it's tucked out of the way, but certainly not hard to find. The energy within is elevated and comfortable. The selection of books is impressive: authors and titles I'd never heard of before. The various other metaphysical offerings (incense, oils, gems, artifacts, etc.) were interesting and priced fairly. What I REALLY loved about Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore was their used book room. It's located in the back of the store and is chock-full of neat old books you won't find at most other metaphysical bookstores. These used books, being special for simply being largely unheard of (by me), were also really well-priced. I bought a few and will be back to get more. I wanted to buy them all! They also offer readings and classes, so look into that too. If you're into metaphysics -- things like chakras, channeling, psychic phenomena, auras, alt religion, astral projection, etc. -- definitely try Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore. You might not stumble across this place unless you know where you're going. A bit off the beaten path. Good parking. Small to medium-sized store. Definitely worth a visit if you're a metaphysics fan. The books are the main draw. Lots of used ones, as well as a few shelves of new ones. Some of the categories include: Celtic spirituality, shamanism, numerology, alternative Christianity, crystals, meditation, Tarot, astral projection, Alexander Crowley, Wicca & paganism, chakras, and plenty of other obscure subjects that I haven't heard about. They have a very small selection of trinkets (incense, jewelry, meditation aids, crystals, etc). They also have Tarot readers working there on a regular basis, and other such events on their calendar. Minus one star for the "meh" NON-book selection. Minus one more star because there is just nothing there that makes me want to return. Although I don't have any major complaints about this store, I don't have much to give in the way of compliments. This is a quaint and chill shop. The shop owners are super friendly, helpful and out of your business, unless you want them there. The selection of stones, decorations, etc are limited but that's not in their title. Shining Lotus has an AMAZING selection of books. Covering religions, health, spirituality and so much more. One of my go to spots for all things metaphysical. I bought a chakra singing bowl and get a ton of used books for a great price. (Great for gifts, they have tarot cards, incense, crystals, jewelry and much more) Always friendly and willing to lend a helping hand. Plus, they have amazing classes! I recommend Roy Neal's monthly astrology group class for only $20. I've gotten a few of my girlfriends to go and they loved it! "Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore" just had its grand opening reception complete with an official group blessing on March 1st at their new location at 2553 S. Colorado Boulevard in the strip mall behind US Bank. The bookstore had to move from its previous Evans/Colorado Boulevard location because a developer bought that strip mall to demolish and throw up (sic) a six story 300 unit apartment building. The new location is next door to a 'Subway' so hopefully the good vibes emanating from Shining Lotus will improve the quality of their sandwiches. I've been a customer of Shining Lotus for several decades (when it was called "The Metaphysical Bookstore") prior to Tim and Justin taking over in 2009. I've been to lectures on astrology, attended classes, had psychic readings, and bought books and incense. (They have a large selection of obscure, decently priced used and new metaphysical books.) I fondly recall one fascinating evening around 13 years ago sitting and talking with renowned metaphysician William Henry for over an hour after he'd given a lecture at the store. If you haven't yet been to the Shining Lotus Metaphysical bookstore, you are in for a treat. read more

Hopefully this store is a lot better than it use to be. I remember the owner years ago, Paula Roosa, and she was the most unfriendly, unhelpful person I have ever come across. She had very little knowledge about the books in her store!!!! I was not impressed with her or the merchandise. read more
