During our conversation we kept thinking of other books to buy and it took him only moments to find them in his online database and locate them in his store. Especially the guy working there with the gray/white hair was orchestrating all of the employees around. Another reviewer mentioned this and yes there is a strong atmosphere of intolerance, paranoia, judgement and deeper under lining issues. I was standing in line behind a gentleman and when it was my turn at the counter, the guy with the gray/white hair told the lady working the counter to leave the counter and told another lady to come check me out which was odd and he had a very nasty look on his face. Then the lady at the counter asked me if I had a membership and I said no, She then says "ok don't worry we are not pushy" and then proceeds to laugh and say "at least I don't think so". They know exactly what they are doing. If a spiritual store is worried about people stealing or whatever then they you are NOT the real deal and it is a reflection of who they are and what they are actually doing. If you are alarmed or uncomfortable by a women of color coming into your shop while your shop is named Goddess/Isis you should NOT be in business! This place is not sacred or safe. Buy your stuff online or go to a place with integrity, a place that has respect and honors spirituality and people, all people. Avoid this place and do not support this business.

This sacred space is comparable to the Library of Alexandria. The books of the sages and the seers are always found here. Everything here is Holy. The owner Tim is the wisest and most knowledgeable men I've ever met. There is no book or topic he isn't able to teach you. To me this bookstore is where I can forget the hustle and stress of the world and open my mind and heart to the holy of holys. Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore has a website with all their books, sacred artifacts, sacred stones and amazing jewelry at prices you won't find anywhere else. If you have spiritual needs, you will find a home here. A gentle and healing home like a gentle mist, a soft rain and a gentle wind. I could write a book about how this place has transformed my life. Perhaps the book would be too long for anyone to read. Thank you Tim, Justin and Gayle for having a holy place where everyone can come home. read more

This was my first visit and I won't be back. I was excited to find this place but very disappointed in the customer service. No one offered to help or welcome me. Several employees hanging around yet no one available to answer a simple question. I was in there for 30 minutes or more while 2 kids ran around grabbing different rocks and putting them in pouches. When they left with their moms I thought maybe I can talk to someone now....NOT. A man came in the store and was greeted immediately. He started talking about the book he is writing...All political BS... Certainly was not what I wanted to hear. I was there in a positive mood and left feeling negative and a bit angry. read more

All is not as it seems here. Not safe for true light beings. For all others probably fine. Readers may be fine. See if they would meet with you elsewhere. If you have a strong aura of light you will at least want to pull it in before you enter. But then why would anyone go into a place where they would need to do that? read more

I spent hours speaking with her, confided in her, respected her guidance, and regarded her as someone safe. I also supported her professionally in a significant way because I genuinely believed in her and in the work she was doing. That trust is gone. What changed my opinion was not a single disagreement. It was discovering that the compassion and understanding I believed I was receiving directly did not match what was being said about me elsewhere. That matters profoundly when someone works in a profession built on intuition, trust, emotional vulnerability, and guidance. I was going through an extraordinarily difficult period in my life, including serious medical circumstances and significant emotional strain. Carol knew that. She also knew how vulnerable I was and how much weight I placed on her perspective. Despite that, I later learned that she had been expressing judgments about me to my wife while interacting with me very differently in private. When I became hurt by something that happened, I did not attack her, publicly shame her, or retaliate. I reached out directly and asked if we could meet because I wanted to understand what had happened and repair the relationship. She told me she was busy and would check her schedule. She never contacted me again. Nearly two months later, however, she had no difficulty reaching out to my wife to request changes to marketing materials that I had personally created through my own business. My wife does not run my creative business. That moment told me everything I needed to know. Ignoring someone when they ask to repair a personal rupture is one thing. Deliberately bypassing that same person when you later want something related to their professional work is another. It felt dismissive, avoidant, and profoundly disrespectful. I gave an enormous amount of my time, creative labor, professional expertise, encouragement, and trust to this relationship without expecting anything in return. I did so because I believed I was supporting someone who had positively affected my life. I now understand that relationship very differently. The most painful part is not that Carol and I are no longer close. It is realizing that someone I once regarded almost as a maternal figure could know how deeply I trusted her, know how much I was struggling, accept the generosity I extended, speak critically about me behind the scenes, and then avoid a direct conversation when I asked for one. For a profession that depends so heavily on trust, discernment, authenticity, and emotional integrity, that discrepancy is impossible for me to overlook. People are free to form their own opinions and have their own experiences. This is mine. I once recommended Carol enthusiastically. I no longer recommend her at all.

Just because a person comes from a "highly attuned spiritual family" doesn't mean they're also highly spiritually attuned -- that's like saying "she comes from a highly musical family" but she can't carry a tune or keep the beat. (I myself come from an *extremely* Christian family -- Bible Belt! -- but I have since learned the truth about that religion and am no longer the slightest bit Christian nor will I ever be again.) As I said, both my husband and I are *extremely* intuitive and can sense people's energy, and the energy we get from this man is "used car salesman" with not a shred of spirituality. In any case, his pushy car-salesman attitude was the real issue. That said, my husband and I did stop by the Youngfield store a couple days ago, and although we didn't encounter "Mr Mask" (and mask or not, the attitude was the problem) the lady at the register was also very "car-lot sales-y", listing off all the things on sale, the readings going on that day, etc. While some might find that helpful, we found it rather off-putting, as we had come in for a specific purpose, not a 3-minute sales pitch. There is nothing wrong with welcoming customers in and saying, "If you need any help just let us know." (Ashley at the 44th Ave location got this right, every time!) But the pushy attitude we've repeatedly encountered makes us reluctant to shop here.
