I've never had a donut from Shipleys that is the consistency of Krispy Kreme's donut until I came to this one. They don't even compare to the ones that towerPoint makes, they always taste fresh warm and soft. Here they're cold stiff and literally not what I ordered. Man up front that stares at me with a blank expression gave me the wrong donut. And the kolaches are always crunchy and crisp. Who the hell wants that. I've given up on this location. One of the best kept secrets of College Station is Shipley's Donuts. Their classic glaze has been perfected at its given style and price. When I am in College Station I always stop for my fix of Shipley's! Donuts are light and fresh and yummy! I buy all types for my co workers but my favorite is a light and airy chocolate frosted with walnuts! Omg it never even makes it out of the parking lot. Buy two to give yourself a fighting chance! I never had a Kolache before I went to Texas. It's dough wrapped around something sweet or savory. I always get the kind with spicy sausage and cheese or ham and cheese or just sausage! Since when did they skimp on the sausage kolaches? You have three times the amount of bread than sausage. Guess I'm going to the Chinese donut place. We order mixed donut but only got glazed donuts. Service wasn't that great today. Before it was always good. But haven't been there in about a year the lady had to keep going fixing my order but it isn't still right. This use to be good. There's a few different styles of donuts -- in Texas, people are mostly famililar with the Krispy Kreme/Shipley debate. To me, there's no debate b/c they're totally different. Krispy Kreme is like a fancy treat -- perfectly shaped, perfectly iced, etc. But Shipley's? I forget the amazingness in their soft simple glazed donuts (as long as they're warm when eaten) -- it tastes like home. But the best? THEIR KOLACHES. Maybe I don't have the sophisticated palate needed for "real" kolaches (like from Czech towns and all), but hands DOWN these beat out Kolache Rolf's, Lone Star Kolaches here in Austin -- just about anywhere else I've tried. I think it's their dough that's sweet-ish-but-not-really (like unsweetened donut dough?) and I'm a fan of their breakfast sausage/hot-dog inside; the pefectly melted cheese; and the whole-sliced jalapenos are awesome. Jeez, Austin needs to get some Shipley's here, Georgetown is way too far. read more

A good glazed doughnut is a beautiful thing. And Shipley has that beautiful thing nailed down. While I am a huge fan of the ethereal sugar-glazed meltaway that is a warm Krispy Kreme, I can absolutely appreciate the Shipley's doughnut, which is substantial and heavy in the mouth and demands to be consumed with black coffee. Way out west in Southern California, it's hard to find great doughnuts though I would be eager to wager that it would be harder to find better doughnuts than Shipley's ANYWHERE! These do-nuts are grenade sized puffs of sugary perfection. whether they are pumped full of custard or cream or dipped in chocolate, there are few better ways to start your day than with a dozen or so of these bad boys. The buttermilk cake do-nuts and devil food cake do-nuts are my favorites and there have been days I've woken up back home in LA, in a sweat, visions of Shipley's do-nuts dancing around my head. While I was waiting for a cashier a man came in after going through the drive-thru to find out what they ACTUALLY had. I got a creme filled donut that did not have filling. If your trying to start your Saturday morning off on a positive note, I suggest NOT GOING TO SHIPLEYS ON SOUTHWEST PARKWAY. I grew up in CS and always loved this location but I don't know where the smiling faces & nice employees went. The drive thru employee can't even greet me properly, I just get a stare and straight face as I smile and list my order. Then I get handed a bag, say thanks with a huge smile only to get then window shut with no response then I realize my donuts were left out. I then go inside and ask a male employee for the donuts that were left out of my order. I don't get ONE WORD from this guy either. He hands me my bag, I say thank you with a smile and NOTHING. Worse services ever... I ordered a dozen cinnamon sugar donut. When I got to school and I opened it, they have me 4 cinnamon sugar, and the rest were icing with cinnamon.
