Kids can enjoy the large inflatables for free and participate in interesting crafts and games. There is usually a beach ball pit which my daughter loves. Adults appreciate the draft Dogfish Head beer on tap and the quality musical acts. Some unique additions include a Green Zone with live animals, Taste of Gaithersburg, and a MakerSpace, where art and innovation are on display. This event used to be called Olde Towne Day but the City changed the event from September to June and also changed the name a couple of years ago. It is a great day to be outdoors and enjoy some awesome food and live music.

The calibre of artists and craftspeople who are presenting their creations is truly top notch. You can acquire some incredible large-format sculpture and art (or just oggle at the inventiveness and craft of the artists). However, if you are simply dabbling in token gifts and small home decorations, this fair won't fail you either. With a broad variety of styles and of price points, everyone can score something unique and fanciful. By discussing the craft and choices with the artist, you can feel truly good about supporting local artists. This arts fair evokes the best of people-to-people markets which is frankly a dying experience given the prevalence of the mall retail world. If this festival was held in downtown DC it would be chockablock full of people and the atmosphere would feel a lot more pressured and crowded. I know that is good for the sellers, but as a buyer I couldn't have been happier with the mellow, small-town feel of Rockville Town Center. Nearby you have a plethora of restaurants in which to dine/relax after taking a turn through the stalls. See my review of Rockville Town Square for selections. While attending I learned about arts communities nearby, including a pottery crawl in Richmond VA which I will surely try to attend. This is a wonderful experience and I would recommend all to savor the riches of arts in our local community through this fair.

My most recent visit was during their 99th year, held on Tuesday July 23, 2019. Parking is free and is located on the grounds next to the Thrift Store and across the street from the Hospital (you may have to park on the hilly grassy areas if you arrive later in the day). There are several parking attendants directing you on where to park once you get on Prince Philip Drive. There is something for everyone at this festival and they are all at a minimal price. In 2019 they had: An area for kids with Pony Rides - there were 2 ponies, Inflatable rides (each manned by an attendant); Books, CD's and DVD's all sorted in different categories - these tents were rather popular. From what I remember, the prices were between $1 to $2 each. Some the books I purchased were in great condition. Most others were in average to great condition; Antiques was in a separate tent from the one with Jewelry. The Jewelry tent is quite popular as well - folks will line up in the rain for this tent to open up. They had everything from necklaces, earrings, rings, watches, scarves, etc. Plants / Fresh Produce / Framed Art - all in their own separate tents. Stuffed Animals - some of which were Beanies. All between $1 to $2 each and there were many. We purchase one or two a few years back. Games - I saw lots of board games, card games and lots of jigsaw puzzles. If there were pieces missing for a game, it would be listed on the game. The prices were listed as well. Prices looked between $1 to $2 each. Bakery - where folks made bakery items and they were available for sale / Ice Cream - there were selling 3 different types of the novelty ice cream / Drinks - I can't remember if anything else was sold other than sodas. Food - you can get Fried Chicken (they are known for having good fried chicken each year), Corn on the Cob, Fruit cups, Wings, Roll, pulled beef, Hamburger/Hot Dog and there is even a Vegetarian Wrap available for purchase. There are times when I have been in the line for food and it was very long, but everyone waited patiently - they also provide lots of tables and chairs for you to eat your food. Entertainment is also available for watching as well. You could also enter a raffle ($5 per ticket) and for the choice of prizes that you get to pick from (if you won), it is totally worth it, plus it is going towards a good cause. You do not have to be present for when they select the winning raffle tickets. The festival reminds me of a gathering of a community - everyone relaxing and just having a good 'ole time. I am already looking forward to when they will have their 100th Women's Board Picnic & Bazaar (in 2020) as they will probably go all out for that and then some.

You have to purchase the tickets at Ticket Booths, but they do accept cash & credit. Music - I am always discovering music at this festival and I love live music. Some performers I have become fans of since seeing them perform live at this festival: Shane Gamble - 2013. John Brown's Body - 2014. Taller Tales - today 2019. I also come back to listen to regulars like Jah Works (reggae) and Chopteeth Band (Afrofunk) - both always puts on a show whenever they perform. There is even a beach for the kids (sand and all), a kids area, and other non-food vendors. They also have a parade on Memorial Day as well. All of this make up this festival, so it is worth checking out each year. Tips: ** Bring a chair although it is not required and some stages provide chairs. ** I think the event is rain or shine as I have watched a performance in the rain. ** Get a HTH mug as a souvenir. ** Have fun.

I am always happy to visit this club. The course is excellent. It has a smaller footprint than…read moremost, but they truly maximized the space. The greens and green surrounds are some of the best. The fast green speeds on a daily basis function well with the slopes. One rarely has a straight putt here. The surrounds have a great mixture of tight fairway grass, thick rough, and deep bunkers. Each hole has playable spots which make strategy an essential part of scoring well here. Some people may think it's too short, but I think that adds to the level of thought getting around this track. Many times driver off the tee is not the play, and that is also pin specific. Not a lot of courses around here get to that level which is why I always have fun. I have many favorite holes. The par 3s probably stand out the most in my mind. Each has a different type of elevation change and each asks a different question off the tee. They are just so good. I also love the par 5 4th hole. It looks like things kick left off the tee but there's some subtle slope that keeps your drive going straight. After that, the second shot is blocked by a tree and a well placed bunker on the right, and everything kicks left. Then the green has one of the deepest bunkers guarding short left. Essentially, you have to take on some risk not matter what. What adds to it is how getable that second shot is with a perfectly placed tee shot. That hole has so many layers. The driving range is good. I just need to set up my Trackman app the next time I'm here to get the most out of it. The putting green is awesome. So many ridges running through it, just like you would see on the golf course. There is a chipping green and bunkers towards the back of the parking lot as well. It's little used but should provide any shot you need from 75 yards and in. The members have been welcoming and fun to get to know. I have been here about a dozen times and only had one not so great interaction. Luckily we skipped a couple of holes to get around them and continued to have a lot of fun that day. I haven't explored the clubhouse much, but the food I got one time was excellent and I loved sitting outside with our excellent server. I am sorry I forgot to get his name! It is always a treat to come out here. I hope to do so again in the near future!

Walking up to the main entrance, it is beautiful with large doors and once you enter, the areas are kept so clean! The staff walking around greet you and as you walk through the building, it leads you to the back golf course! It is huge and veryyyy well kept. I am sure members pay a lot of money so that it should be a given that the county club is well kept but either way, they definitely hold their end of the bargain. We stopped by the bar to grab a drink and the drink i got was a cucumber, elderflower martini and it was so refreshing for a hot sunny day!

The clubhouse is classically appointed with wood and leather. The event I attended was catered by the club and the food was outstanding. I had salmon and one of the freshest spinach salads with candied pecan ever. The champagne dressing set it off lovely. Maybe I am being overly stingy with the rating because of the membership requirements. Over $100k and a 10+ year waiting list. This is where folks with money come to play and relax.
