Beautiful omakase spot in Scarborough! As expected, the service was phenomenal. Our hostess explained everything, asked about preferences and was happy to share their own experiences and make conversation when invited to do so. The food was phenomenal, every single dish was intricately prepared and paired to provide a unique flavour profile. Would definitely come back, this was a delicious experience

The space is clean, warm, and intimate without feeling tight. Service was gentle and attentive (and very sweet about remembering no green onions for me ). Each piece of sushi tasted fresh and consistently good, with nothing trying too hard. No heavy sauces to mask freshness, no aggressive vinegar and just well-balance. You can really taste the freshness and creaminess of each piece. I also loved that they serve two types of ginger, each doing its job to reset the palate properly. The chef was generous with off-menu recommendations and took the time to explain where each piece was from and how regions differ. We tried puffer fish milt for the first time, and the way it was prepared and seasoned made it surprisingly enjoyable. It's rich, delicate, and comforting rather than intimidating. I guess Japanese marshmallow is a suiting name. All things considered, this felt like a very affordable omakase experience for the level of freshness, friendliness, and space. Quietly excellent, thoughtfully done, and definitely a place I'd return to.

Some good points and some areas of improvement leaves me with a middle score. I chose a 3 star but it's closer to 3.5 to me. Came here on a recommendation and while I liked the friendliness and attempt. The quality didn't quite reach other experiences in toronto in both food and service quality while there were some notable mistakes. Don't get me wrong. This is a perfectly ok place. But it's more closer to average than it is closer to special. I never care about value so those considering that may place it differently. For the good, there are a lot of appetizers for their valentines special menu that we ordered. 6 appetizers highlighted by a crispy skin tile fish as well as a fish and chips where the tartar sauce was a delightful egg salad. Main course sushi was highlighted by a nice mackerel sushi that Included a shisho leaf for depth of flavour. Kanpyo (gourd) was unique and I haven't ever had that before. I also took advantage and tried all 5 of their add ons. Ranging from purple Uni (nothing special), small baby fish on sushi (unique) and a binchotan seared fish they were ok. Dessert was fantastic with a delicious Japanese strawberry and an incredibly well made mini matcha cake. Negatives were the following: while adventurous, several appetizers were unique but didn't really have much notable flavour. The baby sea eel was unique but the taste one one dimensional and unremarkable. 3 of the first sushi pieces tasted slightly fishy and a bit off putting. The salty ginger served with the sushi is unique but didn't taste good. On the other hand, the sweet version was nice and can be eaten as a snack. Although that sweetness doesn't pair well with sushi in my opinion. The eel sushi unfortunately broke down as i tried to pick it up as the sushi rice wasn't prepared properly. This is my first time this has ever happened to me at an omakase. Decor was nice but a touch minimal. The toilets didn't feature the traditional Japanese electric toilet that many omakase's have. They did have a nice mat for your phone. And did provide hand towels on arrival and on return from the washroom, which is unique and nice. Staff does try to engage and chat with you. Overall while nice and well intentioned, there is a slight lack of precision in movements and execution that keeps it a few notches below from the Michelin calibre omakases. Overall it's ok and not bad. Just not special which is ok.

We had a lovely belated birthday dinner here at Shizuku & it was one of the best meals we've had all year. We opted for the classic yuki omakase menu which includes 18 seasonal selections curated by the chef. This dining experience was very intimate, intentional and refreshing with their creative takes on extremely fresh seafood. The chef was talented & personable. To top it all off, the service was stellar and respectful. I cannot wait to celebrate another special occasion here!

Great omakase spot that's a bit of a hidden gem because of it's location in a random somewhat sketchy plaza. The chef was really friendly and the atmosphere was casual but still professional. The sushi was good and I really enjoyed the signature hot puff pastry. The dessert was also yummy. The chef and the servers were all very attentive which is important. They provide guests with a copy of the menu as a souvenir which is a nice touch. I would love to come back :)

Delicious Omakase in an unassuming plaza located in Scarborough. Service was excellent and highly attentive throughout the meal course. The chef s tried to maintain an intimate experience. A few of the dishes including the monkfish puff were very unique. Everything was very fresh. Slightly pricey relative to others but overall a pleasant Omakase experience.

I found this place actually as a suggestion as a new restaurant on OpenTable. After checking out their IG, I didn't see much of anything except that it was omakase... so you bet I was there We booked it for dinner on a Friday and surprisingly it ended up being a private dinner for 2! There was only 1 omakase option at $175/pp and didn't really state how many courses it was, but it actually ended up being like 17/18 courses including appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, soup, desserts. I felt overall it was good value for the amount of food, but only a few items stood out to me. I liked the monkfish liver puff, that was different and was very rich, had some sweetness from the puff pastry and saltiness from the liver. The uni/scallop/ikura on rice was almost like a small chirashi course. The first cold noodle/octopus appetizer was refreshing and tangy. The nigiri courses were all very good but standard tbh. I usually devour ginger because of its sweet, sour and salty taste but this was one was just salty Lastly we had 2 desserts to end and the ice cream with cheese was interesting, I know sweet and salty is a good pair but the cheese was rubbery cause of the coldness of the ice cream This place is fairly new so regardless of this experience, I'm open to giving them another try down the road!

It was a sad moment when Nishinokaze shuttered its doors for sushi-lovers everywhere in the city. Thankfully, from its ashes rises Shizuku. Chef Kazuki has taken the helm at the former Nishinokaze location with a good combination of traditional flavours and creative, more contemporary takes on familiar dishes in his omakase. I was particularly a fan of the uni & spot prawn marinated with xiaoxing wine as well as a magical choux puff with a very special ingredient inside. This is a very intimate space that seats less than 10, and is reservation-only. Like Nishinokaze, I'm sure it will become quite busy as more find out about this hidden gem in Scarborough.

We booked the entire place to ourselves and it was quite a fantastic and intimate dining experience. We were initially a group of 8 but were allowed to add another 2. I like omakases and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed everything that was offered. I was pleasantly surprised by the monkfish in the choux pastry. It was perfectly warm on the inside and buttery but not flaky. It was paired well with the sake of which I've forgotten. I also loved all the nigiri and the dessert. There wasn't something I disliked and I'm so happy to have come here. Chef Kazuki was very friendly and there was such an ease when he was preparing our dinner. He was also kind enough to participate in our group photo at the end of our evening! I highly recommend coming here. Everyone knows their stuff and you'll have a wonderful experience. The attention to detail in the serving plates and cups didn't go unnoticed by me and I appreciated that extra touch.

You can really tell there's a lot of care behind every course. What stood out to me most was how calm and focused the whole experience felt--it made it easy to slow down and actually enjoy each bite. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I want something a little more special.

It's been a while since I've had omakase. Yasu was easy to reserve and was under $200pp. The menu…read moreincludes 16 courses which includes 1 appetizer (containing 4 dishes), 12 nigiri, tamago, soup, and dessert. There were three add-ons (toro with caviar $25, uni with caviar $35, and caviar sushi). I opted in for the toro and uni add-ons. It was strange they give you the add-ons before any other nigiri. Everything was very good and fresh. Standouts for me was the appetizer, all three cuts of bluefin tuna, the lobster (by far my favorite), and the hotaru ika. I would've appreciated knowing that the omakase included or not included toro and uni before I decided on the add-ons but I don't regret it. It was a splurge night after all. Service was very attentive. Note that the dining space is very small. 12 seats around the counter and two tables. There was a very loud gentleman two seats from me who never learned to use his inside voice and totally ruined vibe. But that's not on the staff. Another note is that gratuity is automatic on the bill.
