I needed new sneakers. When I walked in the door my old running coach is working here now and he…read moredid an amazing job getting me into two pairs of fantastic running shoes. He told me the sneakers I was in or giving me too much support and my knees have been bothering me so he recommended a different pair of sneakers for me after watching me run and they feel amazing. This is exactly what I want in a shoe store. There's nothing better than having a well educated qualified person helping you get a good pair of running shoes.

Everyone who works here is more than experienced when it comes to running, some of them are even coaches at local schools! A lot of them run all the local marathons, which is so cool to hear! Almost all of them have given me small bits of advice while they watch me run, and all the advice has been just what I never knew I needed! When you're trying on shoes, they try to give you about three different brands to try. I've been using Saucony Everun Ride 150's, but my high school cross county and track coach who works here recommended some Mizunos to train for my half marathon in. I LOVE THEM! I've only ever used ASICS and Saucony, but I was blown away with my Mizunos when I test ran them. That's another thing! They let you test run the shoes! They always tell you to go outside their store and run some to see how they feel. This has been extremely helpful! Shoes I would have bought had I (not practice ran them) ended up feeling like they were gonna fall off while I ran or pinched my toes. Seriously, I don't think you should go anywhere else for your running shoes! This is your place!

The shop is medium sized, nowhere near some of the big stores, but what you will find is really high quality items at a great price. The Discovery Shop has a nice if not huge selection of clothes, they have just recently expanded the men's area in the back to allow for more variety. Most of the items are high end and usually very current. Where the Discovery Shop really shines is the selection of art, decor and interesting items. It seems that they get more upscale donations then most thrift stores, plus they are raising money for a great cause. Other items include books, media, all kinds of kitchenware, plates, glasses and jewelry. Prices are reasonable, what makes it even better is that they have a 50% discount color every week and the last weekend of each month the entire store is 50% off. Over the years I have found some really nice sports coats and a number of carved wood items at the Discovery Shop. Well worth a stop to check out if you are looking for some great items at good prices, plus it is great to support the American Cancer Society. I also want to shout out the volunteers at the Discovery Shop, they are always friendly and helpful and the store is well set up, organized and attractive.

The volunteers are wonderful, and the finds are always great--no wonder it was my Nana's favorite place to shop. I scored big today with their 50% off sale. They also accept donations (except electronics and bedding). Shop sustainably and support a great cause!

I went into Famous Footwear in Stow on Thursday, January 13th and tried on boots. The cashier was…read morevery helpful and put the boots on hold for me to pay and pick up on Friday. When I went in to purchase the boots on Friday, a different young lady checked me out. She too was polite and helpful. When I got home and tried on the boots to show my husband, I wasn't sure if they fit right or not. (You see I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis in my feet. If a shoe/boot doesn't fit right, it's not good.) So I headed back to Famous Footwear about 2 hours later. I took the boots I had purchased with me so I could compare. When I entered the store, the cashier who had JUST checked me out as well as the one who helped me on Thursday night asked what I was doing. I shared that I wasn't sure if I bought the correct size and needed to compare with a different size boot. They said that they had to keep my purchased boots at the register- store policy. I said I needed them to compare sizes and my receipt was with the boots. THE CASHIER (associate #300423) THAT HAD CHECKED ME OUT JUST TWO HOURS EARLIER, TOOK MY PURCHASED BOOTS FROM ME. YES TOOK THEM RIGHT OUT OF MY HANDS! I was so taken back! I went on to try on the new size boots and walk around the store. Anyone who tries on shoes knows you need to know how two different sizes feel. So after trying to GUESS if I needed a different size by how the new ones felt, I finally went up to the desk where MY BOOTS (I had already paid for them) were and took one to compare with. After 5 minutes of walking around with two sizes on, I decided the ones I bought were probably the right ones. I then went and got my other boot. I walked around with them on and decided I would not be exchanging the boots for a new size. I then took my boots and my receipt and left. Let me clarify a few things, it was MY CHOICE to leave my boots at the register. Since only one other customer came in during the entire time, I would have thought those young ladies had plenty of time to help me, not make purchasing a new pair of boots of very negative experience. Money is tight these days folks, spend it at a business that is both helpful and deserving!!!
