You get what you pay for…read more After acquiring a home with a pool I did my research on Pool Maintenance Companies in town. Alabama Pool Services ended up winning my business because 1) they are locally owned and 2) they were the cheapest in town. While they are very nice to talk to most of the time I had a number of challenges and the cheap cost proved out in service. And maybe I'm lazy but the fact that the ONLY payment they will take is to mail them a check every month is annoying. There is only one person in the whole company that can tell you anything about a pool, even basic stuff. That person is the owner and he's rarely available or returns calls timely. If you have a schedule where you can call everyday at 7:30 am then eventually you can reach him and he'll tell you all you want to know but it's a frustrating customer service model to say the least. I paid for weekly service. A number of times I noticed that the pool was not very clean or I had to clean out the skimmers myself soon after my service day. It was hard to tell some weeks because they would come on Thursday and then Monday the next week. Never consistently. One day I was home and observed the pool guy from the window. He checked the chemical levels, cleaned one skimmer (dumping it out in the flower bed by the window), grabbed some of the bigger leaf piles with the net and then left. Tons of leaves still floating on the surface and one of my skimmers completely FULL. Not to mention didn't do any of the other things on the list of services I purchased. I called the company immediately and took some pictures. While the front desk attendant told me they had other complaints on the same guy, days later when I was able to reach the owner, he was prepared to defend his pool boy to the end. Didn't need pictures and didn't offer to send anybody out to clean it. He actually told me "he knew you were watching him so he wouldn't have skipped out." Chemicals seemed to always be ok but there were some various things like some yellow staining that I asked about and was told they could send somebody out at $110/hour to scrub it. Flash forward to 4 months with my new pool service company.. I pay $60 a month more. The pool is 110% cleaner and clearer every week. They come at the same time weekly and bring a bag with them and all the debris they collect ends up in my trash (not in my flowers). They resolved the yellow stain in one visit at no cost because they knew exactly what caused it and how to treat it. The pool guy spends more than 40 minutes at my house weekly making sure everything is perfect. Has even changed out parts on my polaris and other items for just the cost of the parts. The owner, manager and pool guy are all extremely knowledgeable, all have cell phones and will respond quickly. And amazingly, in the spirit of 2016, they auto debit my account for service monthly. I won't advertise for another company on somebody else's review but I would encourage people looking for service to not just concentrate on the cost.

They come out quickly and assessed the situation and get it done. This is my third review for Xcalibur because every time they leave, the problem is fixed. Its totally worth it to become a member because things can go wrong at the worst time and you know who to call. Im happy. Today I have hot water. The staff has always been courteous, knowledge and they get the job done. There are all kind of other benefits that come with the membership so you should call and set it up. Its horrible to run around at the last minute trying to figure out who will fix your problem. Guess what, they do it all. No running around trying to find someone, just call one number and they will get you hooked up. I know they have for me. Now to go enjoy a nice hot shower.

We have had the same problem with our plumbing for over a year now. We have had countless people come out from Xcalibur to look at the problem and we have paid them almost $3,000 in total and nothing has been fixed. The first encounter was in December of 2024. I even paid for the VIP service because I was told that the VIP would help us get quicker appointments. We paid every quote we were given, and we did everything Xcalibur recommended. We even got our septic tank cleaned out unnecessarily because they recommended it. I first became frustrated with Xcalibur in January of 2025, because we had so many people come out and everyone assured us that the problem was fixed when they left. At that time, we were quoted $2,335 to fix the problem that we had been assured was already fixed. I wanted to use another company because I felt like we were getting the run around, but Xcalibur assured me that this would fix our problem. I was told that the company stands by their work and that they offer a warranty on their services. I reluctantly agreed to the work because they were so nice and I trusted them at their word. We were told everyone who had come out before from their company did not know what they were doing, but this plumber was the "fixer" and would make everything right. When I asked for a copy of the warranty, I was emailed a copy of the invoice only. Over a year later, and the problem is still not fixed. We had someone come out last week from Xcalibur, because the problem resurfaced yet again. Not only is there not a warranty on the work done by Xcalibur, but we paid almost $400 for a camera to be run (for a second time by Xcalibur). We were then provided a verbal quote for well over $10,000.00. I was again told that everyone who had come out before had no idea what they were doing but THIS would be the fix. The suggested quote included going through concrete and ripping our floors up. The flooring work was not included in the quote. At this point I have lost all trust in Xcalibur as they have repeatedly lied, and they do not stand by their work. They clearly do not even think their past plumbers did a good job. They clearly only care about money as they continually come out and quote more and more each time. The $400 we paid last week (on top of the money we have paid to them previously) did absolutely nothing, because only a few days later the problem was back. I called another company and they came out quickly and they were so incredibly professional. Everything Xcalibur failed to do in over a year has been fixed in only a few hours and around $750.
