Shooby Doo catered our wedding reception at Within Sodo and absolutely exceeded expectations. I met with a few different catering companies before selecting Shooby Doo, and what really set them apart before even tasting the food was their level of communication and attention to detail and THEN on top of that, of course, is the food itself. Caroline and Chelsea were an absolute pleasure to work with and were gracious and responsive to multiple emails - there were a few last-minute changes and many questions along the way and they never hesitated to respond in a professional and helpful way, and honestly I don't think they ever said "no" or didn't come up with a way to work with any of our requests. The entire staff throughout the reception was incredible. As soon as my husband and I arrived to the reception, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a plate of appetizers to nibble before our "grand" entrance to the cocktail hour. Anytime I came close to the bar I was asked if I needed anything, and for our vegetarian guests who did not get their entree from the main buffet, it was a seamless process for them to ask the servers and have their meals brought out immediately. The food. The food was in.cred.i.ble. I had a tasting a few weeks prior, but had not tasted all of the courses and I was blown away. Everything tasted fresh, was perfectly seasoned, and was all served and kept at a perfect temperature - our guests all raved and there were some picky palates among the group! I have to also give huge credit to Shooby Doo for all of the excellent work they did coordinating with all of our other vendors and for essentially serving as wedding coordinators on the day of the wedding. They allowed us to drop off items such as vases, candle holders, our guest book, etc. and they put them in place before the reception. They worked with our cake baker, our table vendor, our lighting vendor, and received all of our wine and beer from friends. At the end of the night they helped us package up all of the leftovers, and did so with a great attitude the entire time. Our reception would not have been the incredible success it was without the incredible food and effort of Shooby Doo. From beginning to end, Shooby Doo was absolutely amazing to work with! Kelsey, Todd and Shubert made our wedding the best it could be! Our wedding was at Delille Cellars. They have a preferred catering list and if you deviated from the list they asked that you pay an additional 500.00 fee. I got several quotes and we tried a few different menus but I wasn't really excited about any of them. The food was good but it wasn't great and my family is made up of all foodies. Then I did a tasting at Shooby Doo. The food was amazing! My husband loved that he could cut his filet mignon with a fork, it was so tender. The best part was, even with having to pay the 500.00 fee, they were still less expensive!! After signing the contract we went ahead and did another tasting to decide on the final food list. We chose: Parmesan Tartlets; Potato Cups with Smoked Salmon, Sour Cream and Chives; Proscuitto Wrapped Prawns; and Crab Cakes for appetizers. For dinner, the guests had their choice of two salads: Spinach Salad or Berry Salad; and 3 entrees: Quartered Chicken finished with Lemon and Thyme; Filet Mignon with a Red Wine, Green Peppercorn Glaze; and Wild NorthWest Salmon with a Red Pepper Cream Sauce. The food was out of this world amazing!!! As the RSVP's started to come in we had some issues with a couple guests that we didn't forsee. One woman was a vegetarian and we didn't know that, another was dairy free, while another was gluten free. Shooby Doo had no problem accommodating these requests and it was at no additional charge to us. I was shocked! They were so flexible! When it came to rentals, they went above and beyond again! We were getting most of our rentals from Cort. However we weren't a fan of the tablecloths or napkins Cort had. Shooby Doo was willing to go all the way the Pederson's Rentals in south Seattle to pick up the tablecloths and napkins we fell in love with down there and return them for us! We initially thought we wanted food trucks for our wedding, but quickly realized that we wanted a caterer who would provide more than just the food. THE. FOOD. WAS. AMAZING. Shooby Doo did the catering for our wedding a year ago and we still get compliments on how delicious it was. Our 80 guests had the parmesan tartlets, potato cups with smoked salmon, caesar salad, berry salad, chicken piccata, short rib roast, seasoned potatoes and green beans. Nobody went home hungry! Schubert and his team were so helpful, from the tasting, answering emails quickly, all the way to accommodating picky children! They provided the linens, plates, pipe and drape and stemware. To help with costs, my husband and I provided our own alcohol and Schubert was great about recommendations on what alcohol to purchase and the quantity to make it a full bar experience. The staff were professional, friendly and were quick to respond to guests needs. When it came time for the toast, they handed out the champagne efficiently to all the guests and provided non-alcoholic drinks to those who requested in advance. Shooby Doo staff also transitioned the room from ceremony to reception space in a matter of minutes as we took group photos outside. We used Shooby Doo for our wedding in March. I don't think many people are able to say that not only was there wedding food delicious, but also incredibly affordable. Shooby Doo was amazing to work with from the very start. They were the first food tasting we had scheduled as we were starting to look for a caterer. Let's just say...they were also our last tasting. We ended up booking them same day! I worked with Kelsey throughout the planning process. She is seriously a rockstar! Responsive, super knowledgable, and made the whole process feel too easy. She would give me helpful tips throughout the planning process and help with layout and flow planning during our venue visits together. With Shooby Doo, you're also getting somewhat of a day-of coordinator. They helped keep the night on schedule, moved chairs and other decor around throughout the night, made sure we had food and drinks in the bridal suite right after the ceremony, and helped ensure everything was set up in the correct spots. On top of all of that, the food was actually amazing. Many people went out of their way to comment on how great everything was. We did what I think was one of their cheapest buffet options, and it still blew the guests out of the water. I really can't say enough good things about them. Shubert and his wonderful team recently provided food and bar service for my wedding, and it was perfect! We opted for heavy appetizers and a few platters instead of a full seated dinner. A lot of our guests were skeptical, and worried that there would not be enough food, and that they would have to stop on the way home. But, it was more than enough food, and everyone raved about it afterward. All of our guests we talked to the days following our wedding commented on how good the food was, and how there was definitely enough to go around. The food at our wedding was extremely important to us, not just because we love good food, but because so many times you hear people talk about how unmemorable wedding food can be. Catering and high volume food service can be tricky, rendering the food cold and bland. But, Shooby Doo is definitely and exception to this occurrence. Shubert and the rest of his cooking staff and truly talented, and highly experienced - their food is absolutely delicious! Shubert was also great to work with leading up to the event, so helpful and easy going. His menu options are great, and he even let us make our own addition to our menu - mini grilled cheese, which turned out AMAZING! The service was also great! As a busy bride and groom running around, they made sure we had snacks ahead of time, snacks waiting for us right after the ceremony, and set up plates of food for us, to make sure we ate enough throughout the night. Mother of the Bride here...Shooby Doo did an excellent job catering my daughter Lauren and Saul's wedding at The Antheia Ballroom in Snohomish this last week, March 27, 2014. Although it was a venue they had not worked at before, they showed up on time, found their way around like experts, were completely helpful and responsive during a very hectic time. The food was excellent. We had many wonderful comments from the guests about how amazing the food was! We had appetizers on the patio and a full buffet dinner. Chicken Marsala and the Braised Short Rib with sides. Several people told me it was the best beef they had ever eaten in their entire lives! The service was as good as it gets. Back when we were just starting to plan our wedding, we lined up tastings with several different caterers, and Shooby Doo Catering's just happened to be the first one in line. We had our tasting, then paid our deposit on the spot and left to call the others and let them know their services would not be needed. It was seriously that ridiculously good. My (now) husband still mutters about the butternut squash tartlets in his sleep, but don't tell him I told you guys that. I sent emails to Shooby Doo from time to time over the 6 months between our tasting and the wedding, and I always got an immediate answer. Seriously, I emailed them at 8pm on a Sunday one time, thinking oh I'll probably hear back from them by Tuesday or so, and I got an answer from Schubert himself less than an hour later. He also later handled working with my mother-in-law with grace and tact. So I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when one of the two promised chefs at the wedding turned out to be Schubert! I'd asked him to include strawberry lemonade as part of the drinks service, and not only did he remember, it was fantastic. I hear the beautiful and prominently displayed lemonade dispenser was the reason we were out of vodka halfway through the party. The catering staff was smoothly professional and genuinely friendly. The only complaint I can think of is, the beef was so popular I didn't get to take any home. read more

I chose this catering company purely based on Yelp rating for my daughter's high school graduation party. I ordered food for 50 people with dinner menu and 3 appetizers. And yet I seriously do not recommend this company to anyone for any kind of gathering. I communicated 4 different people based on the day and time of the day I questioned. It was confusing and not organized. Worst of all, I'd realized they didn't even bring a salad dressing after delivery person left my house. So I served salad without dressing !!!!!! After talking to the owner of business, I have realized that in fact they provided salad dressings which delivery staff told me it was for flat iron steak. So, it means the staff did not even know about the menu. After all, I served wrong sauce for flat iron steak and salad without dressing. Anyway, they were not prepared and not trained well. I do not think it's last minute order at all. I inquired information on 5/1 and contacted them to order food on 6/8 for 6/14th event. In the Meantime, I was given wrong prices and ridiculous quantity on chafers and so on. I have contacted other catering company in Seattle and Kirkland area with one week notice too. And they were very friendly and sincere. In fact, they were very helpful and professional. Shooby Doo is all around amazing and I would not hesitate to work with them again! As many other reviewers have noted, the food is absolutely delicious and our guests had rave reviews! Everything we had during the tasting was great and they were able to replicate it at mass scale at our wedding. Even the things we did not taste but gave to our guests did not disappoint. We highly recommend the braised short ribs, ahi tuna wontons, pear and gorgonzola crostini, and coconut rice cake with lemongrass chicken. All of the staff of Shooby Doo are fantastic professionals. They did a site visit to our house, which was our wedding venue, and asked many great questions and had very helpful suggestions to make the day run as smoothly as possible. The staff truly shined, though, when the skies unexpectedly opened up right as dinner service was about to start, and they had to scramble to get all the buffet food moved from outside to inside our house. They were quick to come up with a solution without bothering us. They just made it work! We had food left over after the event but not too much. It seemed that we were low on alcohol near the end of the night, but somehow they took care of it. What was so unexpected was how clean the left everything at the end of the night! We can't begin to express how appreciative we were for the immense effort that the staff of Shooby Doo took to not only clean the kitchen but also mop up the floors where our guests had come in with their muddy shoes due to the unexpected deluge of rain. I also happen to work for a catering company myself in Florida, so I had pretty high expectations and I have to say they exceeded them all. The sales person I worked with Kelsey was very responsive and extremely helpful with all dietary needs for my menu both gluten free and vegetarian items. My husband and I just had our wedding catered by Shooby Doo. We and our guests loved the food and LOVED the service. Shubert and his staff were extremely helpful and great to work with both the day of the wedding and in the process of planning it. Shubert was always easy to get a hold of when we had a question or needed to make a change. He was great at accommodating specific requests, dietary restrictions, and so on, and he also gave us great advice on what sort of menu selections and rentals to choose. He allowed us to provide our own alcohol for the bar, and he helped us decide what and how much to buy. We always felt like he was helping us with issues we didn't even know we had--such a huge help during the planning process. The day of the wedding, the service was incredible. Everything was smooth and effortless. They did everything: setting up the rentals, flipping the room between ceremony and reception, cleaning up the space and taking out the trash at the end of the night. We were even more impressed with their ability to respond quickly to requests that came up on the fly. We asked for a bottle of wine in the dressing room while I was getting ready, and it was there in just a couple minutes. We didn't think about bringing a cake knife and server, and we never mentioned it to Shubert, but they had us covered anyway. We somehow managed to order only forks with our rentals--no knives. We just didn't notice that knives were left off the contract. It was our fault, but since a few of our guests had asked for knives and they hadn't brought any, they gave us a refund on our rental costs. Our one minor complaint was that one of the bar tenders seemed pretty inexperienced. She needed instructions from our guests on fairly basic cocktails (an old fashioned, for example), and her single malt whiskey pours were way too large, so we ran out quickly. Neither would be a big deal, but our guests are pretty big booze snobs. All the same, Shooby Doo was excellent, and we would highly recommend. Shooby Doo Catering catered my wedding on 8/17/13 and I could not have made a better choice. I was going in blind; I was planning my wedding from California and was unable to do a tasting before booking. I looked though all the reviews and decided I was going to take a leap of faith that all the reviews were true. And let me tell you they were! Every single person working for Shooby Doo made sure my guests had everything they needed. A glass was never empty and the food was beyond words. I have never had such amazing food in my life, we had the Beef and Scallion Skewers (my favorite), Lamb Lollipops and Roasted Pear and Gorgonzola Crostini for appetizers that were pasted. They were so thoughtful that they made me and my new husband, a plate of all the appetizers to eat while we signed out marriage license. My husband's Aunt mentioned in passing to the chef that her husband had a slight allergy to Thyme, so she made a plate special for him, with items that did not have thyme without being asked or expected to do this. I also had some guests that had to take an elderly guest home as she was tired, the team made up plates for all the people so that when they returned food was already and hot for them! No that's what I call going above and beyond! For our dinner we had the Citrus Fennel Salad, Roasted Chicken, Braised Short Ribs, Gratin Fungi (amazing) and Seasoned Roasted Potatoes. Everything was just amazing! Everyone loved the food, even our picky eater. For dessert we had a lemon and vanilla bean cake that was so good, people were eating it for breakfast the next morning. For the guests we had mini apple, cherry and blackberry pies. I had a few guest eat one of each because they were so good! I also got all my rentals though Shooby Doo, which made things so much easier for me! I didn't have to worry about a thing. Everything was dropped off, set up and then cleaned up, torn down and the next morning picked up by the rental company. I would like to tell anyone looking for amazing food and service for an event, Shooby Doo is the way to go. You will not be disappointed! read more

In such a difficult time it was so wonderful having a caterer who not only cared about the food but also my family and friends who attended. The owner and his wife both played a part in ensuring my mother's memory came out in the food that was served that day. My mother was a big fan of prawns and they served a delicious prosciutto wrapped prawns that would make my mother's mouth water. They came into our house fully equipped to cook and serve. The food was pretty good but to be honest, the service wasn't as we expected. We picked Shooby for our wedding because of all the great reviews. During each meeting we had with Shubert, he made us feel like we were making the right decision by choosing his company to cater our wedding, but when the big day came, his staff just didn't deliver. His staff only checked on us once, didn't make us up a plate like they said they would, and forgot to make the vegetable Ratatoillie for the vegetarians at the wedding. The cook was also rude and even had an altercation with my father in law. That being said, all companies no matter how good, make mistakes and have bad days. How these mistakes are corrected are what sets the good companies apart from the bad. After writing Shubert of our experience, he literally called us up 12 minutes after sending him the email and apologized on behalf of his staff. He took the time to go over each of our concerns and made note of them. He also took full accountability for forgetting about the vegetable Ratatoillie when he could have simply blamed it on his staff. After speaking with us and making sure all of our concerns were addressed, he refunded us a portion of the balance and made sure we were satisfied. We were really impressed about how responsive Shubert was to our needs and speculate that the level of service would have been much better had he been at the wedding personally. Though we did not get the best service during the wedding, I would recommend Shooby for their food and their accountability. read more

Shooby Doo catered our wedding this past weekend on Guemes Island, WA and they were absolutely wonderful. When we met with Shubert a year ago, he didn't bat an eye when we said where the wedding was, even though we met him about 2 hours away in Seattle. He was easy to work with and accessible all during the planning stages. At the wedding itself, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We briefly chatted to get them set up, and they took it from there. Not only did they handle all the food, but they set the tables, moved chairs from the ceremony to the tables, and handled the bar like pros. We didn't have to worry about a thing. At the end of the night, they left us all our leftovers for the next day. The food was fabulous- both the passed apps and the dinner. We literally had friends following around the person with the pork belly tray. We had multiple people rave about the food, some saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Shooby Doo was the caterer for our daughter's special Sweet Sixteen party with a 1940-50's Hollywood Glamour theme. Shooby Doo's planning for the event was highly professional and Shubert (the owner) was very responsive and creative. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The pleasant, attentive staff lived up to what "catering" means in every way: 1. provide with food and drink at a social event, 2. provide for what is needed or required, and 3. try to satisfy. Shooby Doo Catering is simply the BEST. Shubert and his crew were confident, professional, and made our wedding day easy and stress-free. When planning the event, Shubert was prompt with responses, and open to the many different ideas and timelines that we were intent on using. His staff members were courteous and respectful, and always made sure we were happy throughout our wedding reception---and did so without being in our faces all the time. It was like he was two steps ahead of us always, and did everything before we even said anything! The food looked beautiful, tasted excellent, and was presented perfectly. The catering staff and Shubert were excellent...we couldn't have asked for more!
