I went into this business during covid only to find them allowing "consignment" sales of ammunition at anywhere from 200-1000% markup over retail prices at other locations during the same time frame. The shop owner is well known to be ignorant of what he can and can not do legally, and will happily confiscate your legally owned firearm should he decide you shouldn't possess said firearm. (literally) , nobody force me to buy it but still I don't think that is not fair, anyways I shoud have look for the reviews of this place before I went , there actually too bad and now I know why, taking Advantage of people who is not familiar with firearms. Neither employee was interested in getting off their butts to do anything. Obviously not interested in sales. Babysitting a store, but nothing else. Prices were high. Argued that I couldn't get a part for a gun; and I already had it. I just was wondering if they had a gunsmith. They recommended Calibers, but didn't know who to ask for there. To me, the place, appearance wise looked "plain"... certainly doesn't speak to the customers interest. The employees didn't want to speak at all. And certainly had no helpful answers. The owner is is dishonest, shop elsewhere. If you click "lowest reviews" many others have complained. But for some reason google is only showing positive in "most relevant." The owner's response to negative reviews are generally sarcastic. I'll expect the same. This is exactly my experience at Shooters Den: The ammo i was interested in seemed expensive. I asked the owner, who was all smiles, why it was so expensive though I knew ammo is more costly a little bit nowadays. He said supply and demand. Not knowing the pricing in ABQ, I asked several times if he would just be honest and let me know if I'd find this ammo half the price down the street before I bought it..He said absolutely not. The ammo was on consignment (but new). I bought 2 boxes for $140 inc tax. Went to my car and called a gun store 3 miles away and found it was half the price. Went back in the Shooters Den told the owner who of course said no returns even though it was just 10 minutes after I purchased it. He's local and I just assumed he'd level with me for the small amount of dollars involved. Certainly owner will have a negative response to this, but these are the true facts. The employee there was condescending and scoffed at me for asking about surplus guns and ammo. He was not very knowledge about ammunition or historical firearms. He told me,"it's 2018 bro! What are you going to ask me about mosins next?" Apart from that, there was not a large inventory in the store and the prices were a little high compared to other venders. I recommend going to Ron Peterson's on central instead. In addition to having better inventory, Ron Peterson's has a much more knowledgeable staff and indeed they do have mosin-nagants. read more

This is my favorite place to go for ammo. They usually have everything I need in stock from 9mm to 38 rounds, to even 357. They are very helpful and have given me great advice on different hand guns. The only reason I would go anywhere else is if they don't have what I need in stock, and that is very, very rarely. read more

It didn't seem to me all the employees were on the same page. I was told different dates of arrival. I was told they would overnight, but arrived in the store to be told they didn't have the shipping option I was told. No two employees had the same answer to the same questions. Very disappointed in their lack of professionalism. Had I know it would be a bait and switch I would have cancelled my order then went with Omni Arms like I originally intended. I am an avid supporter of the Second Amendment, so a good place to purchase items needed for self-defense, home-defense etc. is crucial. I bought my first weapon at Shooters Den back in 1988. Every other weapon I have purchased in my life has come from Shooters Den. I have gone to other gun stores in the Albuquerque area, and find that the people behind the counter are generally rude to you if they do not know you, try to sell you the most expensive items they can, and do not listen to what you tell them as far as your personal needs or preferences are. The people at Shooters Den are not this way at all. When I walk into the store I am greeted and asked how I can be helped. There is no high pressure sales practices, and the staff is very knowledgable on every item in the store. On a few occasions, they have gone out of their way to get answers to my questions. If they do not have exactly what you are looking for, they will order it for you. These people like what they do and it shows. If you are new to the world of personal defense, Shooters Den is the place for you. they will get you set up and make sure you understand how to operate your new equipment safely, effectively and properly within the limits of the law. I know quite a few police officers and sherrif's deputies who purchase their duty and off-duty weapons at Shooters Den. That in itself is the best endorsement for this business. If your needs are hunting, law enforcement, personal or home defense, black powder, reloading or optics and accessories, Shooters Den will steer you in the right direction.
