I really liked my time in Shop Old Gold. I found a super cute vintage 49ers sweatshirt and my friend found some cute sunglasses. I thought they had a nice selection with decent pricing. I didn't feel like things were overpriced at all. The service was also great. I had an item without a tag and thankfully the associate had found it earlier and was able to assist me. I went here a couple weeks ago and bought a top. The store was nice and clean, really cool decor but I didn't love the vibes given by the workers and overall there wasn't much variety of clothing. I don't usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share what happened. I've been to this shop before and loved all the cute items, so I came back today. Unfortunately, my visit was ruined by the owner. She told me not once but TWICE that a few things would be "too small" for me BEFORE I even tried them on, which made me feel embarrassed and stopped me from looking at other options, even though the clothes I had did not seem too small by any means. Isn't that what fitting rooms are for? Her comments about my body were really out of line, especially since I'm not overweight. When I told her at the register that her comments made me uncomfortable, she just brushed it off and said she'd had clothes "stretched out" by other customers before. It's a shame because the store has great stuff, but I won't be back. Not a friendly lady and clearly doesn't care about her customers. It's not a place for body shaming. read more

Shop Old Gold is a women's boutique selling new and mostly vintage clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry, sunglasses, and gifts. The selections are beautifully curated. Nice mix of different clothing styles... modern, bohemian, mod, grunge, and street wear. Geared to the hip snd trendy ... which I am not but most others are. The vintage items are in great condition. It passed my look and touch tests. The shoe wall was eye catching. They have a loafers, ballerina flats, casual walking, and lots of boots... ankle, high heeled, cowboy. The leather shoes were all well conditioned, no dry cracking leather. Prices are priced above thrift but below vintage. The greeting cards, jewelry, candies, gifts, and stickers are from local artists. Well of course since the shop is in the WAL Public Market building which stores art galleries and studios on the upper floors. The building is a turn of the century warehouse that was converted into living and retail spaces. The whole vibe of the market shops is local, independent small business collaboration. I wish I could give zero stars. After shopping here for 3ish years I had two bad experiences recently and never have a pleasant experience in the store. I got Levi shorts only to get home and the crotch was covered in PERIOD BLOOD. I scraped off the literal crust and cleaned them and it wouldn't come out. I sent a pic to old gold and they said no returns sorry it's final sale. How are they selling shorts with blood in them?! Thats a biohazard but okay??? I never got a respond on texts only call. 3 years ago I bought vintage Levi jeans and posted a photo on yelp which Is attached to this review. They had literal POOP ON THEM. Wtf????? I almost went to get a STI test after trying them on. I was so upset. They have no regard for there customers and literally source the nastiest stuff. They also had many Shein swimsuits last summer.. that's not very vintage of them. The customer service is horrible. make sure to look at your clothes before purchasing so you don't get home to realize your clothes have human discharge, blood and feces on them! Because no refunds even if there is HUMAN BIOHAZARDS on your items. They simply do not give a single F. Never stepping foot in there again. read more

I would not recommend trying to sell any items here. You'll barely get any money. You are better off selling your vintage clothing online. I brought in two vintage jeans and a dress (all items I initially bought here) to sell and got $28 in total for them. That's only $9 an item... I spent close to $70 on a single pair of those jeans and I know she will be selling them for close to this. Can't believe how cheap this place is when it comes to buying items. read more

Extremely helpful and friendly people run the store and social accounts. I saw a lot of cute stuff on their Instagram stories and decided to book a shopping appt to come in and see what they had. I agree with many previous reviewers about the service, but I do like the eclectic selection here, even if it caters more toward women than men. I've bought some cards and am still hoping to find something on their vintage rack that is big enough for me (vintage clothes, especially concert t-shirts, run small and that is nothing new to vintage shops). As for the service, I've been in twice now and both times the people working there didn't acknowledge me despite the store being otherwise empty. No "hello" or "Let us know if there's anything we can help you with." Contrast that with the record shop across the way, where the owner actually came out from behind the counter and shook my hand, and you see what a world of difference a little gesture makes. read more

Love this little vintage (and new gift) shop! They are always getting new items in and I love being able to walk into an organized place vs digging through so many unwanted pieces. Customer service has always been great and they are located in a great spot to shop, eat and drink. They've also been adding some local and handmade gifts to mix it up. They seriously have the cutest/best vintage levi 501s shorts and jeans! i had to get both because the prices were perfect!!! I picked up a two piece vintage dress/ jacket to try on & the old lady (owner?) who was behind the counter (instead of helping customers as they shop) decides to yell across the store "that dress is a size 25" waist" implying it wouldn't fit me- really lady!!! So you expect to make a sale that way. News flash old rude one it fit me! Along with being rude you suck at guessing a persons size. Not that I had any intention of buying it after her outburst. They have a pretty good selection of clothes, even though they carry more women's than men's clothes. (I tend to mix both sometimes anyway) But the owner seems kind of rude, especially to one of the younger employees. They act like you're inconveniencing them just by being there and the owner was loudly telling the other employee that they needed to start asking people who had been there "too long" to leave. It's a pretty cool place though, so I still check in on occasion. read more

This place is great and one of the very few vintage stores that reasonably price their stuff. That is kind of a miracle. The only downside is I bought a bag (which I love), but when I looked inside it to take out the stuffing, I noticed it was full of dead fingernail clippings. Had high hopes for this place. Was let down. Service was pretty bad, the blonde gal at the counter was kind of snooty and seemed uninterested in helping us. Maybe we didn't fit the look? Prices were ok on some things, then crazy high on others. The real let down was the product we did buy. Bought my wife a "handmade" leather purse. Turns out we found the exact one on Ebay straight from China. The thing is already ripping. I have a feeling more items in here are not genuinely hand made but bought online and sold as handmade. While in Sacramento for the day thrift store shopping, my friend and I heard about Old Gold and decided to go even thought we knew it was a curated vintage shop (i.e. higher prices than you typical thrift store). I was impressed by the shop layout & merchandising, quality of vintage clothing, and prices. I know how difficult it is and how long it takes to find cute stuff thrifting so I thought their prices were totally reasonable. I tried on some $40 vintage made-in-USA Levi's (too big sadly!) that would have easily been twice that much at a similar shop in San Francisco. Some reviews mention the rudeness/indifference of employees but that definitely did not pertain to the girl working today, because she was super sweet and helpful. Also they have a really nice selection of candles & apothecary including PF Candle Co., Urb, and Everyday Oil. Personally I love shops like this and even thought I didn't buy anything I enjoyed looking around and thought it was super cute. The other shops and cafés in the building are also worth checking out. read more

I really want to give this place 5 stars, I truly do! I've been here 4 times now and each time service has been awful! During my most recent visit, I told myself that it would be the last time that I shopped there. I wish I was kidding when I say that during each visit I've never been acknowledged by the woman working (I'm assuming it's the owner?) During my most recent visit, I purchased an awesome "The Future is Female" t-shirt. I got in line behind one woman and she rang her up. Instead of taking me next, someone else that came from the dressing room walked around the other side and handed her her stuff and then she took care of her. The entire time I'm standing in line obviously ready to check out, I'm ignored! She seriously went over to the other side of the jewelry case and asked the woman standing there if she wanted to see anything. So then she spends her entire time helping her pick out earrings while I'm clearly waiting to be checked out, at this point, I'm confused and shocked that she would be that rude. I was waiting for so long that I almost put down my shirt and left, but as I was about to, another woman walked in to start her shift and asked if I've been helped and rang me up. Overall this place has a great selection of vintage clothing, bags, shoes, and the unique jewelry selection is my absolute favorite! If you're looking for a gift they also carry cards, candles, oils, etc. However, as much as I like the merchandise and would rather support a local shop, I can't continue to give my money to a place that makes me feel like I shouldn't be there. read more

My friend and I went in during spring break and I absolutely adored this store. The layout was beautiful and chic while also calm and collected. The prices were great for vintage clothing. My friend bought three vintage men's shirts and two pairs of sunglasses for $70 where in other shops it would have $130. The women we met working was the owner and she was the sweetest women, she helped us and recommended some other stores as well if we were to continue shopping.
