They have fun and festive clothes, vintage items, and an assortment of jewelry, candles, pins, scarves, and bags. The employees are always friendly and helpful in finding sizes or ordering items that aren't available in-store. Excellent Vintage Store With An Edgy Vibe SITREP Bambi and I were just perusing the restaurants & stores along J Street this beautiful Saturday afternoon. We got some art supplies, stopped for coffee, were ready to take off, but then noticed Cuffs. So had to investigate. THE SETUP * They carry some exceptional lines of clothing (I would have to say mainly for women, but interesting nonetheless). * Nice fashions accessories to pair with business or fun casual, including a wide selection of jewelry and belts * Some cool jewelry pieces. BOUTIQUE UNIQUENESS In the few times we've stopped since, we see that Cuffs keeps it's inventory current, switching it with the seasons, or even more so. The only downside of being a boutique rather than a department store of course is that their may not be an appropriate size for the customer with the item being considered. But that is what it is, and focus is place on those items that are size-appropriate. NICE SURPRISE For a store as petite in size as this one, I was pleasantly surprised to see the wide array of HATS that they had! All shapes, sizes, colors & configurations. I came in today and was the only customer in the shop, there was no greeting and the gals working did not say one word to me the whole time I was in there. Really shitty considering I was excited to come in and try on items that i been eyeing online. It made it very uncomfortable as if I was unwanted. I've worked many years in retail and know greeting customers is rule #1. Don't buy their vintage. Idk who is in charge of their collection but their posted pictures are deceiving. I buy from many vintage shops online, and one of my favorite vintage shops is transparent with front and back photos and as seen on models with descriptions of whether it's pinned or not. I'm certain that the skirt I just bought was pinned from the back on their mannequin because it is SO wide. They should also be transparent of condition. The skirt has been over washed and it also arrived incredibly wrinkled. Oh, and the brand was Gloria Vanderbilt ...so prob from the late 80s/90s. Maybe post the brand? Really bad experience here. I had always driven by and thought it looked like a cute store that I wanted to check out. I finally had the chance to go in and see the clothes. When I walked in, I was not greeted by the girl at the cashier (she was not even busy with anyone, she was idly standing there) and instead, she just proceeded to stare at me the entire time. I was trying to look at clothes, and then I would look up and just meet her eyes staring at me. I saw some cute clothes I would have liked to try on, but the environment produced by this worker was stale and discouraging. I don't know why she just kept looking at me in that way and not saying one word, like "can I help you find anything," etc. Nothing. It was such an uncomfortable experience. Cuffs is still one of the best boutique stores in Sacramento. Their selection is incredible and the owners, or whoever picks the merchandise, has incredible taste. It took me a long time and a lot of visits to finally realize how much I should appreciate this place. What already puts them above so many other places for me is the fact that they sell men's clothing as well. As a constant visitor of local businesses, I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed to walk into a local clothing shop and find...only women's clothing. Until I start crossdressing (at least, regularly), these shops will forever lose my business. But not Cuffs. Their selection of men's stuff, from t-shirts to button-downs to sweatshirts to shorts to pants to wallets is impressive. I love Cuffs and I come here often to buy new clothes. It's really nicely curated and I always have trouble deciding what to get because everything is so beautiful. It's a little pricey, but I always know that I'll walk out happy and confident with whatever I buy. I would like to say that although I can find my size sometimes it's definitely a toss up. I'm a size 8/10 and sometimes even the large size feel closer to a size 4/6. I think if larger sizes were offered I would definitely come more often. Side note- some of the girls are super nice and helpful, but when I came this weekend the 2 girls working were a little less than friendly and my friend and I felt a little judged which I normally do not get. I ended up leaving with 4 items so it didn't matter, but just something to keep in mind. read more

Such a cute boutique and a great gem in downtown. Greeted at the door (so important) I was intrigued my the neatly organized boutique. Everything from new clothes to used vintage clothes. I have never really explored downtown Sacramento and I'm sorry that I have been living here for so long and just recently discovered what Sacramento has to offer. I walked into this store just because and I didn't expect to find to many items of internest here because 1. It's the "thrift store" type that I can never find anything in and 2. it was realllllly small. I found SEVERAL pieces that I couldn't help but try on on. I am never one to actually buy things at a thrift stores but I couldn't help but make a purchase. There is a really good selection of used items as well as new clothing items and accessories. The prices are way affordable as well for those on a budget. The owner is super sweet and doesn't smother you and allows you to shop at your own pace and explore the store. Cuffs is always stocked with a mix of cool thrift store finds (in really good condition) and local designers...it's the best way to get a new clothes fix without spending a ton of money... So glad I finally ventured into this shop on Sunday! It has one of the best curated vintage selections I've ever come across. I don't know what wizardry the owner gets up to in order to find items in such great condition. Everything is clean and pressed and priced reasonably. Really, I think this place is too expensive. Then again, I am a born bargain hunter with the inability to buy anything that isn't a good deal and/or on sale, which is why I bought the yelp $15/$30 deal. However, that being said, they do have some really cute clothing. Just bought myself the $15 for $30 Yelp deal!!! For months now, I've been walking in and salivating at the merchandise. The merchandise, as well as the store itself, is super trendy, super current, and super fun to look through. Found LOTS of good stuff! Cuffs is rad. They carry great new clothing and accessories as well as some sweet vintage/thrift finds. They also carry some vintage pieces that have been redesigned by Cuffs owner Lacadia Olsen. Lacadia is probably my favorite designer in Sacramento- and that is saying a lot. There are many talented designers in our city and I think what makes Lacadia's reimagined/redesigned vintage clothing great is that her clothing is very accessible. Everyone seems to know everyone in that part of town. Their selection of clothing is pretty great for such a small store. For the women, there's always some pretty cool pairs of shoes waiting to be tried on. Clothes and local or vintage, perfect for mixing and matching to the ultimate outfit. I love love love this shop. You never know what exactly you will find but it is always filled with treasures that would appeal to many. They have vintage, new and lots of locally made accessories. They even have a men's section! Over the last few years I have started to shop here more and more... Sometimes I feel like they are my personal shoppers. The owner is a lovely human being and all the sales staff are super nice and pleasant... They don't pressure you at all and instead just make it known that they are there to help. On a recent visit I needed a belt for a dress and the girl ( wish I knew her name) went through all the vintage belts helping me match one to the dress. She even modified one of the belts by switching the buckle with another.. 12 bucks SOLD. The prices have a wide range... Sometimes way cheaper then I would expect and sometimes way more.... Decent selection of jackets, especially leather ones (but the cold weather appears to FINALLY be behind us). The used stuff had acceptable, but not great prices. The had a good selection of short sleeve, button up, vintage shirts... but am I the only one saying that particular hipster fad has passed, or is that just wishful thinking? Cuffs has a mix of used and new clothes, and the new stuff is definitely overpriced, at least for the guys stuff. Didn't take the wife along, so I've got no input on the women's selection as far as prices go, but some of the stuff on display looked cute. How have I worked two blocks from here for a year and never stepped foot inside in until last week? This place is so modest; from the exterior, you would never know the great selection of accessories that's tucked in here. The shoes are amazing; they have anything from pink cowboy boots to glamorous sandals. And, what was most surprising to me was that they're not ugly! I bought two pairs of fancy heels from here. These were one of a kind, and way more unique than anything that I could find at Urban Outfitters or any other novelty store in the grid (though, sad to say). Following the shoes, a bag or purse will be your next best find here. They are all reasonably priced and very fashionable. You can easily find a cheap, yet fabulous clutch for a big event or an vintage bag for every other day of the year. And if you're that hipster (yeah, I'm talking about you), you'll go to the back of the store and find the sunglasses that you've been dreaming about. I don't know where they found 'em, but it's a pretty hefty selection of vintage glasses. Aside from the accessories though, the actual selection of clothes is some what limiting. Nothing there seems to fit my taste, and for the fellas, it seems like there is a relatively smaller selection for men. I first visited Cuffs during a Second Saturday event and was impressed with not only the shop but the owner. She was very friendly and kind to everyone who ventured into the shop and didnt mind my son running around like a lunatic playing hide-and-seek :) The store is small, but has a good mix of vintage and new items (Ill admit, Im partial to the more obscure, new items). Ive purchased a few random items over the course of the last year such as a belt and several interchangeable belt buckles as well as a number of accessories for my girlfriend, but my favorite purchase to date is my Basiquenti knit cap (Japanese brand). As I mentioned in a review for Havoc Boutique, Im not partial to boutique shops like some, but I did enjoy my experience here and plan to visit the shop more frequently this next year. OK, I've been in here a couple of times on second Saturdays just to browse and they've always had cute stuff but I've never had money or felt compelled to purchase anything until last night. As I walked in I immediately spotted the most adorable sandals I had seen in a long time. The first thought that popped into my head, "They're going to be too big. Nothing is ever in my size." Writing this review as I leave the store. When I walked in I received no greeting, which seemed odd as I was the only customer in the store. Sales associate was sat behind the desk, loudly eating and scrolling through her phone. I attempted to jingle my keys around in case she didn't hear me come in, but she still refused to look up from her screen as I walked past the desk. I was able to be in the store for a sum of about 10 minutes and look through all the racks of clothes and jewelry tables and not one word was said to me. As I was nearing the end of my visit to this store another woman walks in, she was greeted within 2 seconds of her being there. So, I walked out. The only reason this store is not receiving 1 star from me is because their clothes are actually cute. Obviously the clothes are higher in price, but that's expected of boutique stores Downtown. I came in with my mom yesterday, and immediately I noticed how crowded it was in the store. It wasn't from other women shopping around amongst themselves, there was a crowd of people gathered in the store, all seemed to be friends, talking extremely loud and vulgar to each other. I'm fine with hearing foul language, but my mother is not. I looked over at her and I could visually see how uncomfortable these people were making her. None of the people were shopping in the store, so they could've so easily stepped out and talked outside, but they decided to take up 50% of the space in this store to gather around and talk about a party they were all attending that night. Since I have never shopped here before, I had no idea that I was not allowed to take the clothes off the hanger. I looked around and saw that a woman in the store had an item of clothing draped over her shoulder while she walked around, so I grabbed 2 items of clothing and draped them over my arm while I shopped. One of the blonde workers came up very close to me and said "Do you need help with anything?" and as she looked at me and saw that I had clothes on my arm, her attitude went from happy to angry, and she said "You're just holding the clothes? You really just... took the clothes off the hanger and left the hanger?" and I was silent for a couple seconds because I was so appalled at the way she just spoke to me since there was no sign saying to leave the hangers on the clothes, and the hangers have no grip on them so it's nearly impossible to keep the item of clothing on the hanger without having to bend down every 10 seconds to pick it up. I said "Umm... I'm sorry I didn't know I had to leave the hanger on..." and without saying anything, she grabs the clothes from my arm and walks away. I didn't know what she was doing or what to do so I just stood there for a minute waiting for her to come back and she never did. So I walk up to her to get my clothes back and she refused to give them back to me and tells me that she's going to leave the clothes in the changing room until I'm ready to try stuff on. I was fine with that until she began following me around the store, and every item of clothing I would pick up, she would grab from me and add it to my pile in the changing room. She did not let me hold onto any of the clothes even if I was unsure about them. I know her intentions were to try and make me feel comfortable and not have to hold clothes around the store, but the way she acted and came off made me feel more like she thought I was going to steal the clothes or she didn't trust the fact that I was walking around with clothing. I was with my mother for god sakes, she would have beat me with her slipper if she found out I stole anything, so the woman working the store did not have to micro manage me like that. After I tried on the clothes, I just wanted to leave that store so I had all the clothes (on the hangers this time, I learned) and was standing around looking to give them back to one of the employees so they can put it back. I stand at the cashier stand and I only see one employee, and she's standing maybe 3 feet away from me with her eyes glued to her phone. I kid you not, I was standing there for a good 3-4 minutes saying things like "Do I just leave these here? Do I have to put these back myself? I don't know what to do with these..." trying to get her attention and she continues to glare at her phone before checking back into reality and grabbing the items from me. The clothes were cute but I ended up leaving empty handed. I was annoyed 95% of my time in this store, and as much as I wanted to keep shopping and actually purchase something, the employees just made me want to leave immediately. Cuffs has a great mix of vintage and new clothing items, accessories, shoes, and a variety of price ranges. I really should try to go to Cuffs when they get new stuff in, though, because I saw a lot of cute stuff but there weren't any small sizes left. I'll come back later and assess the gravity of the situation then! The customer service was great. She was helpful and answered all our questions. She also didn't mind that me and my friend took forever inside the shop and ended up buying one purse. We also paid for the item and asked if she could hold onto it while we continued walking around midtown. She obliged and when we came back to pick it up a couple hours later she remembered us and gave us our item. I will definitely be back again to chiggety check out the selection. I dig this place so much I hesitate to write a review because I like that it's still slightly underground and not everyone shops it. It can get pricey but it's worth it. You'll never see anyone else rocking the same stuff. It's like my own personal Urban Outfitters. People think it's a thrift store, but it's not, much like Urban they do vintage styles but it's all new clothing. It's a super small space, but I can do three laps in it and find something I didn't catch before on the third lap. They have amazing accessories. Great purses, hats, wallets, shoes!!!! and necklaces. They've got some killer romper/jumpers right now and they always have some really inventive jackets and blazers. Sometimes it can get pricey but it's really worth it. The owner is super cool and never gets in your face when you are looking around (I hate when they talk to you about what you are looking at). I'd be in there every week if I could.
