I really like this store. I like their selection of wines. I think some of their prices are a little too much. I like their international section. Some of their fruit is moldy but overall it's good. I find things very easy in the store. I go there every couple of weeks and I know where everything is. It's also very close to where I live so that helps. Shoppers only exists here because there really isn't any good competition- the cost of living in College Park is so high that they can charge more for worse food. Better quality and cheaper grocery stores are all over the place in Maryland, and if this Shoppers had to relocate to any of these places, they would go down... fast. I went there today and didn't even buy asparagus because it was all in horrible shape and smelled very bad. The loose mushrooms are always shriveling up, and they shelve things like green onions that look like they are ready for the compost bin. They have some produce that is acceptable (not good), however, but obviously you have to pick and choose. The bottom line is that yes, I shop here, but only because it is sadly the best option in the area (Giant charges even more for the same quality and Mom's quality is not worth the exorbitant price). I am a UMD student and I cannot drive to Carroll County or Baltimore County just to pick up groceries on a regular basis. This Shoppers is like a football team that wins their division because there are no really good teams in it... but would get completely destroyed by the worst team in the other division. read more

This is a Shoppers that feeds a good number of the University of Maryland students. It is a really good size and does sell beer/wine. There is a nice sized produce section and all the vegetables and fruits I've gotten have been a great quality. It's clean and well maintained. The prices on products throughout the store are good and Shoppers does a good job of carrying a really nice international food section. I find the chicken prices on average to be a little higher than I like so I usually don't get my chicken from this Shoppers. The aisles are big and the store is well lit.The lines has always moved quickly and I've never had to wait too long to checkout. The parking lot is a good size but can fill up during the day because it's part of complex. Overall I like this Shoppers and I think they do a pretty good job rotating their produce well. Last I checked they still sell produce by the pound which I am a huge fan of. I never like having to pay per piece especially for green peppers. read more

Went to buy cooking wine with my brother and the lady checking IDs made up her own rules that everyone had to show her their IDs so my brother could purchase the cooking wine even though he was the one in line buying it and we weren't even close to him, we didn't try to argue because honestly by her attitude it felt she was just looking to make us angry. Anyway I recommend trying shoppers @ Baltimore ave instead it's way cleaner. read more

Social distancing wasn't an issue, but the rude cashier I had named Robert was a problem. He was just rude for no apparent reason. I don't care if he was having a bad day, we all are, it's a global pandemic. He could've at least shown an ounce of courtesy, but he didn't. I'm not writing the review to rate the grocery store, since it's... a grocery store. Everything you need is there. I AM impressed by the beer selection though, they have all the basic beers (for pretty good prices), as well as some uncommon ones occasionally. and here's a TIP: instead of buying fresh donuts for $1 each, there's a little rack past the sausages and across from the chicken section that sells day-old donuts. a dozen or so donuts for $3 is pretty amazing, if you ask me. read more

some items have the best prices in the area. parking sucks unless its early in the AM. the store isles are too close together plus the random isle stands - you end up waiting for people so you can get around them with the carts (idea get SMALLER carts!!) produce here generally sucks and sometimes the fruit has mold - espcially the berry's (as aly M. correctly stated) mean can be overpriced along with the scarce selection of seafood. the store just feels outdated and a bit dirty and overcrowded almost ALL the time. some of the people who work here are rude - had a few answer their cell phones and make me wait in the line while they finish their conversation.. i'll generally make a trip the other way to Giant read more

This is a good clean store. There's more space here in this one then the other to SFW that I know of. There's enough space to get your cart around. But I usually come when it's not busy. The place is clean. The prices are super low. This store location does sell beer and wine. There's plenty of parking. I have lived in College Park for the past 6 years and have for the majority of the time made my grocery purchases at this location. The items are for the most part always in stock. The only issue I have is with the long lines. Customers shouldn't have to wait in long lines due to the lack of staff. Please hire some qualified personnel. Thank you. read more

Yes, the meat area is kind of bloody and picking up any given package will coat your hand in various meat fluids. Yes, the decor is a little lacking. Yes, you're not allowed to take the cart to your car. All of these things lead to 3 not 5 stars. But, two words make up for all of this....La Yogurt. That's right, they sell guava and mango flavored yogurt. In 6 packs. There are also plenty of plantain chips, various nectars and wafer cookies that come in dulce de leche flavor. Basically, the latin food section kicks ass. Everything else is kind of blah, although the prices are right. Too bad this is so far from my apartment...but it makes for a good side trip when visiting the local IKEA. read more

I had a great first experience with this store brand and this specific store. It is a vast store. I liked the salad and soup bars, huge veggie selection and many specialty items throughout the store. Clerk was helpful. As a tourist, I must tell people they are lucky to have a nearby store of this size. In the south, ours are all half this big. My only complaint was not enuf electric carts for the disabled. It made my purchase $10 instead of $110. Just sayin'..... read more

This is one of the few grocery stores in the area (the only one in college park and greenbelt, I think) that has a beer and wine license. They have some of the lowest prices for wine, and it is one of the few places that carries my fave beer. I don't buy produce there because it isn't fresh, and I've gotten terrible food poisoning from the salad bar. This is also one of the few places that carries Malt-O-Meal which I prefer over Kelloggs, Post, etc. I think it's open 24 hours a day. Don't go too late, though, because I've seen some pretty sketchy activity there, mostly involving drunks. read more

Unfortunately, this is my local grocery store. I will drive 10-15 miles just to avoid going here. This customer services is mediocre. The produce and vegetables, by the pre packed items. I've returned lots of food here due to the lack of quality. The manage Eyon/Deyon or whatever, he's absolutely the worst manager ever!!! He should be fired!! Amazon Lockers available at this location so you now can pick up your package same day its delivered since this location is open until midnight ! Super easy and right in front of the store by the registers. Down side is obviously due to size only some things can be delivered there. Beats having to wait for your leasing office to be open to get your package if your in an apartment complex. read more

Usually my experience here is a good one but this time was both scary unprofessional.It was myself and my elderly Aunt and Uncle.When we where shopping the frozen food section me and my Aunt started down an aisle when all of a sudden my Uncle yelled "Get your hands out of my pocket".We ran back to him and a few employees also ran over to find a man walking away saying I wasn't trying anything and both him and a female ran out.I like to feel safe while shopping. read more

I disagree with some of the negative points in the other reviews. This Shoppers has really made an effort to clean up its act (literally), and to me the store is organized and appealing. I've had very friendly check-out clerks and other staff members assist me. Maybe I've just been there on their best days, but all has been very pleasant. Shoppers isn't the most beautiful supermarket but it serves me. The prices are usually pretty good as well. Have sampled all the local supermarkets and shoppers consistently comes in at the lowest best price. However, there are certain items that they seem to try to charging a little bit more. I've noticed the eggs prices to be consistently higher at shoppers. Also some of the ice cream I like is a little bit expensive sometimes. Overall, you'll find pretty much everything you need there. I even have my favorite Earl Grey stash tea there now. I used to have to go other places for it. Fruits and vegetables ro so consistently cheaper at Shoppers in my experience. They have a pretty good salad bar, it's not the greatest but it is allways available and stocked with fresh items. The deli meats as well can be a little bit expensive at times. But the cheese, meats, drinks, cereal and many other items are consistently priced well. Happy shopping read more

Walked over here to buy an Amazon gift card for my wife yesterday evening. I waited in the checkout line, but then when my cashier rang me up he couldn't complete the checkout. He fiddled around, called over an employee, who called over another employee. 5 minutes later, a manager came over and asked how I was paying. I showed my credit card. The manager simply took the gift card, tossed it to the side, and without even looking at me shook her head and said "No, cash or debit only," then walked away. Immediately I double checked the gift card display to see if there was any language that denoted a cash/debit policy. None. I double checked the back of the gift card to see if there was any language denoting a cash/debit policy. None. Ridiculous! This store wasted my time. The manager was needlessly rude to me, and acted like I was some kind of criminal. All they need to do is put up a sign that says "Gift card purchases are cash/debit only" and this whole thing could have avoided. Take your money elsewhere, to people who respect their customers. read more

I went to Shoppers almost every Sunday during my undergrad years at nearby UMD. This particular Shoppers used to be a dilapidated and rusty old store. After the fairly new facelift, it became a much better place to do grocery shopping. The prices are fairly cheap compared to the Giant. The staff is friendly, although, I wish that they would have more cashiers, especially when it gets busy. All in all, this is a the perfect place for students and families in the area alike to shop. read more

I have been going to shoppers for over i5 years. I never care about savings because the price is already low in comparison to others stores. The only thing that changes recently is the disappearing of the BRICK OVEN BREAD which has been my favorite. Giant, Safeway and foodlion never carried it, so it looks like I'm stuck and need to change to another bread brand. I have been searching the metro area for the bread to no avail.
