Great Safeway location that's pretty clean and organized. This Safeway is located in the Cloverly Shopping Center with a large parking lot filled with plentiful parking spots. Rachelle, a childhood friend of mine works as the florist there and she does an incredible job at creating arrangements for her customers. She's super friendly and has always been friendly with everyone she meets. Really professional and would highly recommend going to for any floral or ballon needs. The employers here are very professional as well. There's been a few times where I wasn't able to locate a particular item and was assisted almost immediately by a team member. Their items are always fresh and they do a great job rotating their inventory from those closest to expiration up front and newer items in the back. There have been a few times where I've picked up yogurt that expired 1 or 2 days after its printed date, but other than those experiences, I've never had a serious issue. This Safeway location works pretty efficiently where self-check out is on one end of the store and on the other is a lane opened for 10 items or less. All other check-out lanes are available to anyone. There hasn't really been an issue with handling long lines or having to wait long either. I also recommend participating in the Monopoly Game Board whenever it comes along. I've won gift card prizes before and it's a nice way to earn coupons, discounts and money back after purchasing groceries. There's also a rewards program affiliated for in-store discounts as well as gas discounts whenever you enter your phone-number affiliated with the account. I would definitely like to consider this Safeway as one of the better locations in the area and will continue to support their business. UPDATE with COVID19: Supplies are limited with toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Food supplies are decent and employees are working really hard to restock produce and supplies. Please continue to be kind and mindful of others while shopping. I know my family and I rely on this grocery store specifically quite often since it's closest to our house. Remember to continue to help others and stay safe!

I've been to this grocery store several times over the past few years. The shelves are generally well stocked, the lines move quickly (self-checkout is the way to go here), and there's a Starbucks inside. Take care when purchasing refrigerated food items from those square fridges with the open tops---several months ago I found single-serve yogurt cups that were room temperature and reported it to the cashier, who said he'd have someone check the thermostat on it. I returned a few days ago and noticed the issue remains. I also visited the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, and the pharmacist was friendly and quick. She also informed me of the new loyalty program for repeated pharmacy fills. I don't buy anything regular price unless I have to; the sale prices are aplenty and I never have any issues of overspending.

Only because they are close to me, I deal with them. They are the closest grocery store for miles. They stay busy yet only open 2 registers. I stood in a line 15 mins long with a pint of Talenti gelato. THAT'S IT! Nothing convenient about this joint, I'm sorry. Nothing outstanding about it, nothing horrible. Prices are on par for the area and parking is decent. Meh *shrug* I'd drive a few extra miles and go to GIANT instead.

So many everyday and unusual products at a fraction of the price you would pay for the same thing in little bottles, boxes or jars. My favorites are oatmeal and spices. Second, the wine section often has good prices on decent wines. Not easy to find these days. Some of them are organic. And finally, there are some freshly prepared foods that make the co-op a destination store for me. Sushi. And those spicy samosas that are kept in the warmer near the soups. Especially the cabbage one! Apparently they are made by Zemen, the Ethiopian grocery on Maple, so you could also look for them there. That is the co-op the way I experience it. But it is waiting for you to discover your own - the possibilities are endless

Not many cars were in the garage on a Sunday night. I needed milk, but I also came to buy some pastries for breakfast. I got pumpkin scones and almond croissants. Both were good, but not the most flavorful. I'm kind of partial to my French bakeries in Bethesda. However, if parking is always this easy, then I may make this my regular Whole Foods over Downtown Silver Spring. You do need to take a ticket, but then you self stamp your ticket at the machine by the door like the WF in College Park. It was very dark when I exited and took a few wrong turns to get back home the easy way. I will try again!

I walked here to go on a grocery run as my last errand of the day. I have poor eyesight when I do not wear contacts, and I did not wear contacts on this grocery run. Whenever I saw something I was interested in buying, I held it right up to my face to make sure that I had the right item. During this time, something else was right up in my face---the store clerk. A woman had pointed at me and presumably said something negative about me ("He must be a thief! Don't you see that he doesn't have 20/20 vision?") I was just trying to mitigate the effects of my poor eyesight. After that woman pointed at me, the store staff followed me around the store as they would a suspected shoplifter, even though I have been a regular customer for years; literally since the day that this store opened, and far longer than that woman. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience. Is this how you treat your shoppers with disabilities?

I want to give a special shoutout to the international foods Trader Joe sources. This is generally a TJ strong suit, but here I want to mention a few they absolutely nail: Mini samosas: most Indian restaurants in the US serve samosas that have thick doughy shells and are overstuffed with potato filling. But the ones I really love are the Gujarati kind, with thin exteriors and better proportioned, more flavorful filling. This is the kind TJ carries. Oh my heart! Beef Birria: cooked long and slow, so the tomato, vinegar and chili meld into a deep, complex sauce to flavor the beef. The meat itself is so tender it falls easily apart, perfect filling for a tortilla. Takes me right back to Mexico. MultiPurpose Japanese seasoning: I originally bought this to make a seaweed mayonnaise that I wanted to serve with salmon. It turned out beautifully, but pretty soon I was sprinkling the seasoning on all manner of dishes, bringing them alive on my tongue and giving me a new reason for being excited about food!

It's fine if if you need basics and household products for less than big brands. However, if you want more variety, one of the more traditional supermarkets in the area may be a better bet.
