Certain shelves are also locked up, and require an escort by an employee. Says a lot about the clientele. Other than that, the place does get the job done. Good store for getting odds and ends. However, The pharmacy is a nightmare. Would give only two stars to them. Will take way longer than necessary to get your items. Often 3 hour wait or longer at times. Was told to come back in an hour. Came back two hours later and still wasn't ready. Once they had my prescription from 2:45pm and i didn't actually get to pick it up until 11 pm. Totally unorganized. Asked for assistance with stuff in isles or over the counter meds and they don't seem to know much or help much. The store staff on the other hand have been very nice and helpful. Decent selection but it is a smaller store. Prices can be good if you look for sales. The cosmetics people have been very nice and helpful also. Feel bad for the security tho as there is lots of confrontations with mentally unwell people. read more

Every time I shop at the shoppers drug Mart on hilchey Avenue in Campbell river I find everyone in there is so nice except for the guy ( approx 50 yr old man) in the post office.. always rude, never says hello, never speaks to you while he's processing your parcels and then when you leave he just hands you your receipt. I hate shopping there because of it. The store really needs to know he needs to be spoken to no excuse for somebody like that. read more

The male employee who was stocking in the canned fish aisle was stinky. The unpleasant smell deterred people from going there (you can smell it across the aisle). Also, they should not put the cart with boxes at the end of the aisle which blocked others from passing and browsing the products. This Shoppers is open 24 hrs. However, it is one of my least favorite locations to shop at. I do however tend to keep Vampire Hours, so I wind up here allot. What pisses me off about this location, is that the cosmetics department gets locked down (I am talking metal bars ) rather early. Being a cosmetics junkie-this really makes me upset! Especially when I actually need something-not just want to browse. They also tend to be out of many sale items here (water, paper towel, laundry detergent to name a few) and the front check out is ALWAYS lined up, with only 1-2 cashiers. However- The pharmacist tends to be rather nice, and will ring up my other items. They also have a clearance section that I have scored some great deals (Quo shadow powder $2 last time) I also do like the Optimum points program. And yes, they are open 24/7 ....... Best thing about this Shoppers Drug Mart is the free parking in front. Its located in a very busy location, Davie Street (where there are many good food). Parking and traffic can be busy. Went inside couple of times. Well its a bit cram inside. There is a small section for electronics or should I say video games. Sometimes, when I walk in, I feel like this is a big version of a convenient store. I usually pick up chocolate and chips here. Not convenient for me to pick up my prescription here. read more

If you ever need to go to this location in the middle of the night since it's a 24/7 pharmacy, beware of going because there are a lot of crazies that go to this location. When I dropped by yesterday after midnight, there was this woman yelling at the cashier from the door straight off the bat who seemed to have some psychological issues. It wasn't always like this 5+ years ago. It may be that a different crowd have moved into the area because Davie was previously a friendly and welcoming place before. I personally did not feel safe once I walked into the store. Might be better if they mandated masks like at their other Loblaw's stores and enforced a 2 meter distance requirement. I would hate to work at this location during the middle of the night and it would be emotionally draining to deal with a rougher and unpredictable crowd at night on a daily basis. As a result, your shopping experience at this location and the customer service you receive may not be similar to the other Shoppers' locations around in the suburbs or the malls. Therefore, unless you need a prescription desperately in the middle of the night, just go get it during the day. read more

I was followed by a security guard immediately after I walked into the store. Being a regular customer and a senior citizen I found this behaviour absolutely unacceptable. He kept following me which made me so uncomfortable that I just left the store. I can understand that they experience a lot of theft in the store but there has to be just cause for someone to follow you. I gave this location too many chances. I loathe going to this location but visit on occasion for 20x PC Optimum points events only. Even with that, I hate going here for multiple reasons: - Store is small and terribly cramped, large product bundles block walking paths, you're constantly sidestepping people or they are passing by you in the narrow aisles, very annoying - Terribly understaffed. There's never enough cashiers on staff or self-checkout machines avail (only 3), there's always a long lineup and it takes FOREVER to checkout. People are quick to get impatient here. - Store is hot, hardly any air conditioning which does not make it comfortable to shop or spend time here - Aisles are very narrow, often with popup standing cardboard shelving containing promo products in the middle of aisles. These only block foot traffic and create more congestion and frustration. - For some reason the cosmetics area takes up 1/3 of the store and is hardly ever busy, yet seems to have priority over everything else space-wise (IMO this is a complete waste of space). - Prices are very expensive for all goods, even on sale vs other stores or online. Definitely a rip off. - General riff raff, druggies and homeless that seem to enter and wander throughout the store often - The pharmacy at back of store -- people lineup to get their meds (blocking aisle again) and loudly discuss their prescriptions out in the open!!! Everyone can hear them stating their business, phone #, address, date of birth etc. Absolutely no privacy here, and likely a great place for identity theft thieves to eavesdrop. - General store appearance is shabby, upkeep is poor, dirty floors, unkempt product displays... just looks and feels outdated, unsanitary, apathetic and gross. Of all the pharmacies I've visited this one is the most poorly laid out and just too cramped. Couple that with the expensive goods, lack of AC, lack of privacy for prescriptions, narrow aisles and general riff raff, I try and do as little shopping here as possible unless there's a reward involved (PC Optimum Points 20X events). Feel bad for the poor staff that have to work in this environment but unless these issues are addressed and the layout changed (ie shrink the cosmetics area) to give more breathing room, this place will continue to suck. read more

Being DT, with rent being expensive, this one tries to cram as many aisles as possible, so not as spacious as West Broadway where you can swing your arms no problem. And don't like how the lineups block your way as soon you walk in the west entrance. So the east one is better esp if you're looking for cosmetics lol. I was on vacation and felt that it was the start of pink eye, not fun while on vacay, so headed to this Shoppers to get Polysporin pink eye drops. Made my way to the shelf but it was empty :( I asked at the pharmacy if another product would work and she suggested the Polysporin. When I told her the shelf was empty, she offered to call other Shoppers in the area and asked how far I was willing to go to get it. She called a few Shoppers but no luck as they were all out of the product. It was such great service for her to do that, especially when I'm sure she had other things to do and another customer was waiting for help when she was calling the third store. I left empty handed but it seems to be a busy place. The other time I was in the store, the line up was into the aisle but it seems to move quickly with lots of cashiers working. There's a good variety of drink, snacks, and health products. Also great that it's 24 hours too! OMG, I still had water or something in my ear that sounded like beans were rattling in my head. My wife got concerned so we stopped at St. Paul hospital nearby our hotel on Hornby. However, it was Canada Day and there was limited staff. The front desk said that it would be $995 CN to see someone since I am US citizen (apparently, my healthcare plan card wasn't good enough). So, we got outta there quickly and tried to find a pharmacy nearby. This was probably the best solution and spoke to a Chinese pharmacist who suggested isopropyl alcohol solution to dry out my ear canal as well as olive oil to loosen up ear wax. Well, we bought both and tried the IPA solution and it fixed it the next day. Easily, this was the best thing to happen at the beginning of our Seattle-Vancouver trip. Just about everything from computers to toothpaste. The make up selection is decadent. This is serious drug store beauty bliss. Oh you can still splurge on the high filluting brands, but buy a few choice pieces and then fake the rest at Shopper's Drug Mart. But this review is all about the Canada Can-andy! If you're visiting Canada, you have to buy some. Just from the regular selection in the drugstore, supermarket or duty-free on the way home. Here's 5 to get you started; 1.) Coffee Crisp - Fluffy coffee whip between lite wafers dipped in chocolate. De-lish 2.) Areo Bar - Rich chocolate bar with chocolate bubbles in the center for a light chocolaty dream. 3.) MacIntosh Toffee - (in the tartan box.) Hit it up against the counter to brake it into pieces before you open it up. It's creamy tasting toffee that melts in your mouth. 4,) Scotch Mints - my grandfather always had these in his pocket. The trick was to get him to share. They look like mentos, but they don't taste like them. I always bring some home with me. 5.) The Davie Street location is the WORST. I actually stopped bringing my prescriptions there because there was a pharmacy assistant who was so unbelievably rude that I just couldn't stand to talk to her anymore. I can't remember her name, but she always has very smudgy make-up, kind of like she just woke up and never washed her face. Anyway, besides the rude pharmacy gal, I realized they charged a lot more for the filling fee, and my medical plan wouldn't cover their charge, so I was outta there! This week, I was in the hospital and when I was discharged, against my better judgment ( I was high on Morphine!), I straight over to the Davie Shoppers to fill my prescriptions on my way home. Not impressed. I forgot about the high filling fee, fine whatever. BUT, one of the prescriptions wasn't actually a prescription - it's an over the counter drug. They filled it without warning me ahead that my plan wasn't going to cover it. Whatever, I needed it. THEN, I told the guy who rang me up that I had never taken that drug before and he didn't offer to tell me anything about it!! Just threw it in the bag and sent me on my way. Niiiiice. I didn't have the energy to complain at the time, but I really should have said something. At least they were quick with my prescriptions that day, because I really needed to be in bed and not sitting there all day. I've gone on long enough, so I won't even get started on the cashiers! There is really only ONE nice lady there. The ONLY time I go to this store is when I need something and nothing else is open...and I always cross my fingers that I'm going to get the nice lady at check out. read more

I have to divide my review of this place into pharmacy, post office and check-out. The Canada post office and pharmacy are both good, if somewhat slow at times. That may be explained by the fact that it is a very busy outlet and I am content with their service. However, the main shopping check-out is often unreasonably backed up and I have often waited a long time just to buy an item or two. I also had a very bad experience returning some returnable bottles I had purchased there. I am not exactly sure what I did wrong, but I managed to enrage the cashier and it ended up causing me permanent brain damage. Her name is Cathy and you should avoid her if you can. Finally, the prices at Shoppers are obscenely high. You will do much better at a place like No Frills if you want to buy your necessities at a reasonable price. I can understand the previous reviewers enthusiasm for drugstores. In Vancouver, drugstores really hold everything. Whether your needs fall within dental hygiene, food or electronics, this place is the place to go. That said, considering that it's open 24 hours a day, it tends to attract odd sorts that make this particular location less than appealing. The person who helped me was a bit strange, to say the least, and didn't seem all to pleased when I interrupted the monologue he was muttering under his breath mid-stream. He seemed to struggle to understand what I meant when I asked if they carried cereal. Some of the patrons were a bit odd as well. Still, the convenient location always has me coming back. read more

I'm pretty surprised that this place has such poor reviews as well. Shoppers is conveniently open 24 hrs and a "one-stop shop" for some basics when you need them in a pinch. The pharmacy staff have always been helpful, professional and efficient. They always ask if you need any advice about the medication. The check-out is often busy, but they get enough cashiers up there to help move the line and get you through. And it's pretty nice to have a little post office in the corner (albeit not open for 24 hrs). The size is small, so you won't find anything and everything - however, enough to tide you over until you can do a big shop elsewhere. Really frustrating. Every time I go in my meds are wrong. Ive never changed the kinds I use for this one, but started going to this pharmacy as I moved. Now every time I got in its wrong. Amount, formula, you name it and its wrong. Special orders never arrive, and when they do, its wrong. Ive now been told I have to ask for it to be the same formula every time I fill my prescription? I'm leaving a poor review due to horrible customer service, albeit on the only occasion I've dealt with this location. I called (because my nearby location already closed and I needed a 24 hour store) to ask about returning an item that doesn't work, and I'm almost past their return period. The employee that picked up (after I waited for a few mins) was very rude. She didn't have the information I needed but couldn't be bothered to try figuring it out or asking, and when I asked what I could do/what would happen if I went there, she said she wasn't going to give me advice, and I could talk to head office.. or a manager (but then said they won't be in 'til morning). It was clear she just didn't want to help at all; I gave up and thanked her, saying I'd figure it out in the morning... (I *think* she mumbled 'yeah thanks') and she just hung up on me. I don't think locations have differing policies but I wanted to know, before travelling, if going to this location was worth visiting. It doesn't seem to be. read more

Somethings never change... it has been 7 years since i last reviewed this store. So, i went in to buy something today and notice the store is huge now and has self check out. I thought this should be great I don't have to deal with their staff and I can be in and out and it would be a HUGE change to previous experiences. Sadly, the self check outs need to be corrected as people had started their check outs and didn't finish. We found one that we could erase what was on the screen as the supervisor corrected the other machines we asked if we should try another machine. She said no. As she walked away i tried to call her back but she kept walking, we could not scan my partners points card as the previous customer had already done so. We moved to one of the other machines. As we were leaving the supervisor came back and sarcastically said "oh you decided to move to another machine anyway, i will have to fix this". Argh! So moral of the story if you need pharmacy help they seem friendly enough although overworked. Any thing else go somewhere else... it is not worth the rudeness to over pay for items that are cheaper anywhere else. read more

I have been a regular customer at this store for 7 or 8 years, spending upwards of $ 100 a week. The area is weak for broad shopping, and so a lot of people buy groceries there as well as pharmacy and household items - as do I. It is the place I always go when I suddenly think - 'oh, I'll just whip out and get --' It's a very busy store, and they adapt to put in more cashiers - something they are needing to do again, as the lines and waits are often far too long to pay. However, I had an experience in the store that means I will not be shopping there again. This is a lesson in how not to do customer service. A couple of months ago I was there buying concealer. There was no colour indicator on the package, no testers, and no colour indicator on the display, so I opened the package to check the colour. As I did, a store employee - with the name tag Aris - came up and began yelling. He was correct that packages are not meant to be opened, and I indicated that but also explained it wasn't possible to know the product colour. He continued raising his voice and demanded the product, I explained that I was buying it, which I did. At the makeup counter, I said that I was shocked by the aggressiveness of the employee - and the behaviour, that immediate accusation with no discussion costs a business customers. I explained that I am a regular. The checkout person explained that there have been problems with thefts in the store, and so staff are very sensitive and angry about anything that might be understood as such, and the staff member therefore reacted inappropriately. Later, I filled out the Shoppers Drug Mart survey online based on a till receipt with a survey URL. On the survey, I explained the incident and explained my extreme dissatisfaction with the situation. I recommended that staff training include better preparedness for situations like this. In my view, approaching a customer immediately with 'Can I help you?' at least allows for the possibility of a miscommunication and not losing a customer. Checking the Optimum card and seeing how much a customer spends there could be another recommendation before deciding that a regular customer is a thief. I had no response to my online complaints. Yesterday, perhaps two months later, as I entered the store I saw the employee with the furious temper, whose name is Aris. I was surprised, I had not seen him and thought he may have been been suspended based on his people skills. I had a basket and went around the store getting things from my list, when a security guard identified himself and asked if I had ever been banned from the store. I was baffled, and said I'd never been told that I was. He was persistent. I was stunned, and extremely offended. This is a dreadful way to treat one of your regular customers. I asked to speak to the store manager. The store manager Vincent Yeung asked for personal ID. I was puzzled, as I was there to complain, but passed it over. The staff member with the past-visit furious temper entered the pharmacy and spoke with the manager who then curtly informed me that I was permanently banned from the store, and could not make my purchases. No willingness to discuss, to look at my store card to see that I was such a regular, or to listen to situation. The message suggested by staff, security and the manager was 'the customer is wrong if we say so'. I'm someone who's never stolen in my life. I was escorted out by security and treated - well, as though I'm a robber. I was quite shaken. I sent the company a complaint with my optimum number encouraging them to look both at my purchasing history, and the amount that not having me as a customer will be costing at this location. I am humiliated that this happened to me in my community, disappointed by how these incidents have been handled and that an earlier customer complaint was completely ignored, and frustrated. I have never stolen anything in my life and am known to be an extremely honest person. I feel that I have been accused of a crime I didn't commit, verdict and punishment with just the humiliation and no recourse. It's awful business. read more

I'm a London Drugs person (live so close by) but used to like the Davie St. Shoppers for various reasons - mainly the food sales. Wish there was a No Star Option! In November I had a serious fall in the store, employees came up to me including the "Front Store" Manager - Employees helped me up - So called "Manager"JESSICA STIMPSON gave me her card and took my no. She said for me to call her and I did after going to Emergency the next day. Doctors, Emergency and she said she would call me on a 3 certain dates....NOT ONE CALL. All info is now with H.O. in Toronto and they are giving me the run around. I'll probably have to have surgery - whose fault is this?? We are trying to dertermine......but, I'VE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY BY THIS STORE'S MANAGER and H.O. IN Toronto (Customer Relations) What a joke - Customer Relations. I'm the type who always give kudos to great companies (just did to London Drugs) who even delivered pain meds to me and they don't deliver - am on crutches and full leg brace and will probably have to have surgery as noted by Doctor. Not even a Gift Card, or Optimum points (NOT THAT THIS WAS WHAT I WANTED)- NOTHING. I had NO intention of suing until I FIND out what really happened - NOW? I'm rethinking. First of all, I call Shoppers by another name: Church. I love shopping here. Tip: always but yor stuff or presents for others during 20x the point days. You can get so many points on your shoppers card, which equals more great stuff for free! I just went to the one on Davie last Saturday. The man working in fragrance/cosmetics was very nice and super helpful. He advised me how to get an even better deal on an already great deal. I have found this to be true of all the clerks there. They help you maximize your purchasing power to get the most points. I love this store. It has been my saviour on days when everything else seems so wrong. read more

I have been shopping at this store for small things, a couple times a week, for years. After today I will never go back. I'm fed up. Two reasons: 1. They have changed their checkout system and it is difficult to know where the line is. Today a rude individual cut me off in line. The staff there was useless. The man who did it was quite belligerent, in a suit and tie (lest people think we are talking about some down and out person). I'm a senior and this was disturbing to me. 2. Seniors day Thursdays. They claim you can get 20% off if you have a seniors' card, but the discount doesn't apply to items that are on sale. Fair enough, but guess what? At least 80% of the items in the store are "on sale." They aren't really; they are the same items every week. It's a lie and a come on. This location on Davie opens til late, however they do fence off the cosmetic section after certain hours. Since its in the downtown area, it can get pretty busy with a 5 min wait at cashiers.
