Well I was in the self checkout and my DoorDash card wasn't working no service ever in this store so it's hard to shop there for Instacart and DoorDash anyway a girl walks over and says very loud and in front of other customers IS YOUR FOOD STAMP CARD NOT WORKING! I said no it's my door dash card.she says oh ,and walks away. Still didn't help me finnally got service and then it worked. I also felt bad for the people using food stamps! I'll never shop here again very rude employees! read more

Over the past 15 years that we have been shopping regularly at the Hamden store, we have been very positively impressed -- in virtually every department of the store (deli, produce, meats, dairy, groceries, -- by the eagerness to help (and patience with our questions) of ShopRite's employees. In particular, we have greatly appreciated the staff ( as well as the hours!) of the Hamden store's pharmacy. Unlike CVS, where the staff often seemed, frankly, a little grumpy (and the line for service at the pharmacy often proved quite time-consuming), the pharmacy staff at ShopRite were unflaggingly positive and gladly answered questions. We make the effort to get to know their customers by name; they took time to provide information about possible side-effects or ways to help a medication work most effectively. If, as sometimes happens, they secured a generic Rx med from a new source, they were careful to call our attention to the fact that we needn't be concerned if pills were of a different shape or color than what we had previously been accustomed to. They also kept an eye out for ways to reduce our prescription costs (occasionally finding that they could offer us a cheaper price for a generic drug if we didn't purchase it using the insurance plan provided by our employers). Though we began our years in Hamden relying chiefly on Stop & Shop (which was familiar to us from CT's northwest corner, where we had lived previously), we've found shopping at the Garafalo family's ShopRite a better experience in almost every respect. The store may not be as large or flossy as the nearby Stop & Shop, but it's easier and faster to walk its aisles and the employee's attention to customers is more uniformly generous. read more

This supermarket has fresh produce and meats . I fully enjoyed my experience going to the supermarket as opposed to others. I would definitely recommend ShopRite as a post to others. read more

Their curbside pick up and customer service is terrible. Yesterday I waited in my car for over 20 minutes for my order. When no one came out, I had to go into the store and find an employee. I asked them to refund me the five dollar pick up fee since I had to wait so long and they wouldn't even do that. Another day I was shopping in store, and I asked three or four employees, the location of a product, and none of them knew where it was or offered to help me find it. They just said I don't know where that is and walked away from me. I will not return, which is unfortunate because the prices in the products are pretty good. read more

This isn't the first time. I'm disabled and was using ShopRite's delivery service. My address and institutions note to deliver to the back door and to call when items are here ShopRite's web page states they will call when they are on the way, and you are responsible when they have delivered your order to your home. But they will not replace your order or items if you are not there when delivered. I was home all day waiting for the call. When I didn't get one and looked at the back door and nothing I called. Customer service said my order was delivered to the front door. They had a picture. I was informed that Doordash doesn't always follow ShopRite's policy and call. I told them they didn't call, ring the bell or knock when delivered. Customer service said they have no control on their agent Doordash. When informed about my refrigerator items, my answer was they would replace it but Doordash will redeliver it. But ShopRite has no control as to how it's delivered, or following their instructions. I noted this wasn't the first time Another order was left on the side of the house in the sun, and another time my order was delivered to a family on the north side of town and I live in the south end. 2 hours later I received my order and some of the other persons order and their receipt. When I called to inform ShopRite of the extra items they didn't want a return. But I as I noted they should have replaced my refrigerator items before delivering. That wasn't done. Hopefully they credited the other family"s order or replaced the items. But I will never use Doordash or a restaurant who uses them, nor shop at ShopRite again. Since they have NO CONTROL as to HOW their items are delivered to your home. read more

Produce is typically hit or miss double check your berries and always check expiration dates on yogurts FIFO doesn't seem to be practiced much. Staff most of the time is friendly,they have fairly new grocery carts, and fair prices. Almost always find what I need but can use brushing up on practices. read more

Jennifer in the curbside p/u dept is AMAZING!! I called to make sure I wasn't charged for an item I didn't receive. The itemized invoice is a little confusing. She said I wasn't charged and I trusted that answer so we hung up. 2 mins later she calls back and said, after we hung up, I looked again to double check and you WERE charged for the item. I'll credit your card and you should see it in 3-5 business days. If you don't, give me a call and I'll take care of it. I absolutely told her mngr Chris about this exchange and how blessed he is to have her because she didn't have to exude such efficiency and stellar c.s. He says they have an Emp Recognition Program and SHE needs to be recognized for going above and beyond! read more

Today I shopped this store and arrived at 7am along with at least 15 customers. I was at the registers by 720 am to find no cashiers open, but two were hanging around. When I asked the cashier who was open she replied they are counting there money and you can use self checkout. NOT Happening! I sat there waiting for a cashier for over 20 minutes with at least 6+ other customers. Finally there were two employees talking and filling a display upfront, completely ignoring the problem up front. I approached one and asked if he was the manager which he replied yes. I then asked him what the story was up front with NO SERVICE! He smiled and said the machine that gets the draws was broken? I said credit cards do not need change, he told the same two employees who were up front to open and take credit card customers. First thing the draws should have been ready for the weekend HOLIDAY rush prepared last night, 2nd- As a manager his first responsibility should have been the lines of customer waiting to be checked out, 3rd, filling a display is a job for his help, not him! 4th, shelf checkout says 25 items or less which you cannot fit on the belt in these checkouts, 15 or less would work. I believe it's called " Express Register". After working in this type of business for over 35 years, being a manager, I now understand why Stop n Shop does the business they do. read more

adds are crooked and misleading picture of the chicken thighs on sale looked like booneless sk chicken thighs underneath picture was boneless skinless chicken breasts so I decided to go to ShopRite instead of my usual grocery store. but no it wasn't the picture they showed it was the bone in skin on thighs not the picture at all . when I brought to the attention of the tall manager on he just looked mad and walked away from me . great customer service! read more

I went here on Monday because there was a sale on chickens. The sale price was $1.29 lb. In the case there was 1 chicken with the sale price tag and 1 without. I went to the butcher to see if this could be marked down with the sale price but the butcher said that it was a managers special instead of the sale price and refused to mark this down. I've never really had a good experience in this store and this was the last straw. read more

As a person with mobility issues,I am very grateful for the staff at Shoprite. Their motorized scooters are usually working and charged, unlike stop and stop which has hardly any scooters. Forget being charged. Unlike a previous reviewer, I haven't found the store to be overly messy, except in produce. However, that's usually from customers shocking corn and leaving the leaves on the floor or "sampling" the fruit and spilling the remaining. No dept can keep up with that. I get a little annoyed when the available brands change and Omg, don't order delivery. A 60 dollar order became 80, because they contract out delivery to a firm that charges outrageous up charges. However, I can live with that because it's so easy to shop there. read more

They have the best prices and a great selection of items. There are several places to shop in Hamden, but I choose to go here. Yes a lot of the cashiers are young and inattentive, but that's pretty typical of most grocery stores unless you go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. read more

Staff here is dreadful. The guy who is overseeing the bottle return station is the worst employee I have ever had the displeasure of having to interact with. He lets people wait outside (which is completely reasonable with this pandemic) but then comes out to say that those who have been waiting outside for a great amount of time cannot return their bottles and should return at 9AM. Those who are busy taking care of patients all day can't tell patients oh wait, the ShopRite of Hamden told us to let you suffer while we go return our bottles. I should have either been told at 6:30 or allowed to go when the other person had finished at 7. This was a horrible disappointment which has forever tarnished my image of this store. read more

Staff very friendly and they get you out as soon as possible so you don't have to deal with waiting in line so long There are several employees that are really great and the owners are very nice and are trying to keep everything stocked in during the pandemic and that's what I like and need so I don't have to go to stop and shop where the prices are high or even big y. read more

Watch out for deceitful pricing. They put stickers under products but the price is for a different product.

Store is very poorly managed! Staff including management is rude, unhelpful, and doesn't give a crap about the customers! My most recent bad experience was a late night run to get tooth fairy money for kids who lost teeth in the same night. I go to self checkout and I asked the cashier if I could get money back. I told her I needed two five dollar bills. She said it shouldn't be a problem. The machine gives me a ten back. I politely ask her if she could break it. She very rudely says no, we can't break bills even if they came from our machine. I ask to speak with manager. Misty the front end manager comes up and she restates store policy and walks away. I go to Marshall's next door and they gladly break the bill without having to buy anything. I then proceed to call asst manager and he cowardly says Loss prevention and Store ownership made the rule. He can't do anything about it. I will not step foot in this terrible store again. Not even for the last slice of bread in 13 feet of snow. I then called Milford store as advised and they very nicely apologized and said they would speak to owner. Worst store customer service wise and would not recommend!
