Shore Shakes is really small, literally just a counter with 3 or 4 stools. But of all the times I passed by there, I've never seen a line at the shake counter. Which leads me to say this place is a hidden gem and a half! The two dudes that were there at the time seemed super cool and very friendly. I'm not really that much of a social person, but I talked with the guy who made my smoothie for a few minutes after my smoothie was done. Definitely a nice, enegetic atmosphere, good music, and great staff. As for my smoothie. It was a s fresh as can be. They make it right infront of you, so you can see all that goes into it. No presevatives/ pre-made mixes or anything like that. I'd also like to add that most smootie places that I go to in the city charge you about $6 for a 16 ounce smoothie, so I was very satisfied that to see Shore Shakes giving 24 ouncers for the same price. And best of all, the few drinks they offer that have protien powder in them, they give you healthy doces. Something like 23 to 35 grams depending on what smoothie you get. The only "fresh" thing they put in was blueberries, which looked like they had been sitting in the tub for days. They put a vanilla protein powder in, whatever, and then they blended it all together with some ice. The "smoothie" was a sugary, syrupy mess. On the brighter side, my friend got a strawberry smoothie which they put in some "fresh" strawberries and he added peanut butter which made it less sweet and Taste better. It also takes you to the basic description of the business, which discusses the cozy atmosphere and the extensive food selection. Wait Time: 5/5 I experienced no issues or delays with my order. Indeed, the establishment uses the name basis when announcing the order. Ambiance: 4/5 I did like the smooth jazz playing over the radio and the authentic fireplace at the center of the establishment, warming it during the winter. The wood panels on the floors and the walls evoke the cozy vibe of a cafe. Around noon, the establishment can get noisy and cluttered, though it did not prove cumbersome compared to the rickety table. I did not have any issue with the seats nor the space within the medium-sized dining area. Drink: 5/5 I ordered the Kava Supreme Frappuccino, which is their signature frappuccino, consisting of cookies & cream, caramel, peanut butter, blended with coffee, and ice cream, topped with whip cream, drizzle, and cookie crumble. The staff put a lot of effort into their dishes, and the specialty drinks are no exception. Based on my first impressions, I will say that Kava Coffee House managed to get me in a good mood with its fireplace and the smooth music. That good mood stayed with me throughout the time I enjoyed the Kava Supreme Frappuccino. The website reflects the ambiance of the business with its overall design. While the staff cooking in the background can be tedious if you sit too close to the kitchen, the noise did not burden me. Would I say that the price was worth it? The owner explained that they've been at this location for only a couple of weeks. They have a big mobile orange food truck outside that has Taco Loco painted across the body of it (you can't miss it driving down River Rd). However, food is ordered inside the converted house. This is a small take out spot with a few seats inside and outdoors. There's a selection of regular drinks and sugary Spanish drinks as well. The bald chef/owner is very friendly and personable, although his English skills are not the best. The taco's here are really good and they are two dollars a piece. You can choose between regular or spicy beef, chicken, or pork. I like the spicy as I prefer hot foods. Either way, the meat is marinated well and has lots of nice flavor. All tacos come with fresh onions and cilantro, lime and a homemade green hot sauce (Salsa Verde) on the side. Each taco has a good helping of meat and is wrapped with two soft shells. My preferred method of eating them is to take the extra shell and split the meat and veggies, turning one soft taco into two. I'm a pretty big eater, and I can be satiated with 3 tacos (that I turn into 6). They also offer a cheese quesadilla for 2 bucks and a cheese + meat quesadilla for $3. The only thing keeping my rating from being a 5/5 stars is the fact that they don't offer tomatoes, cheese, or sour cream standard with their tacos. He explained to me that this is a more authentic taco, but authentic be damned as I've been spoiled by Taco Bell and all other Americanized taco places that I've been to. But again, the taco's are very good. I've actually bought my fixings separately and added it to the tacos at home. Tip: The chef/owner with a bald head appreciates regular customers. My only complaint was that on the pork taco, the meat was rather dry - and the limes weren't really all that juicy either. The salsa provided added a nice little kick of heat, and the "spicy beef" flavor was actually spicy. Also, I believe this same company runs a truck out of a gas station parking lot about 4 blocks away, since it bears the same name.
