Shore Gourmet is truly a local gem on the Shore with a menu built entirely with local products, a small store with local vendor products on display, and quick service. There is a small amount of indoor eating available, but they actually have multiple outdoor tables available that make for a great experience. Picking up lunch is also a great option for any local business or people passing through looking for a quick meal. Online ordering is easy, and the menu is very descriptive with lots of great choices. Shore Gourmet is also a subsidiary of the Caroline County Public Schools Food Service department and is located in a remodeled high school, making it a very cool experience to go inside. Very very concerned that the people taking orders don't pay attention every time I leave I'm missing something that I've paid for so if you order for here pay attention, make sure that if your meal comes with chips that you have your chips make sure that you get what's on the menu sometimes you may be ordering something on the menu and they have switched it up or changed it and they'll give you the new version of it and it will taste different than the one that you had and then they'll say they don't make that anymore like that so just be mindful of that, very cozy warm environment if you decide to sit in and eat read more

Shore gourmet has a café and retail shop, located in the Caroline Schoolhouse (1901) , and originally served as Caroline's high school. Currently the Spring menu is up . You can order for dinner on Wednesday nights, up until the day before online, and pick up curbside. Very reasonable for two people, $15.00 , either Jambalaya with rice and peas or Italian baked chicken with creamy sun dried tomatoes , wine, spinach and roasted red potatoes'. The menu is never the same. You can add to your dinner with bakery items, sides, and salads for few dollars more. I get a great salad at lunch most especially the Farmhouse salad when I work in Denton. But they offer also offer sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, and paninis. On Fridays, they offer cinnamon rolls (dozen) for $15.95 either baked or unbaked. I love this entire concept of Shore Gourmet!!! The menu always changing and farm to table ingredients. I was so excited to try this place. I love the concept of a cafe attached to a culinary school. What a shocking disappointment this turned out to be. The quiche consisted of a hollowed out roll (that was so tough you could not cut it with a knife) with scrambled eggs and flaccid bacon inside and a piece of some hard-as-nails cheese on top. If this is what they are teaching in the school I despair for our culinary future. Learning to make a pie dough and a custard should be introductory lessons...if this wasn't so pathetic it would be laughable... read more

I wish I lived in Denton so I could come here everyday! We stopped for lunch on the way from Bethany Beach back to Baltimore. After parking in the lot, we tried the doors in the back but everything was locked (probably due to COVID). We wandered around the back and found the outdoor tables on the opposite side of the parking lot! After looking over the menu, we called in our order. (I believe this type of ordering was the result of COVID protocols, which we did not mind.) They came out with the biggest, most delicious salads ever! My husband got the farmhouse salad and I got a "make your own salad." They were extremely generous with the portions and you could add as many ingredients as you wanted after choosing one protein. I drive to and from the shore often and I get so sick of convenience store sandwiches and fast food snacks. This place is a breath of fresh air. I recently stopped for lunch and had a fresh, tasty chicken caesar wrap without having to go far out of my way. The wait and price were both reasonable. Nice place off the beaten path in Denton, MD. Make sure to pay attention to the signage. They are located in the old High School Bldg (pretty cool). We initially came for breakfast which they no longer serve, but that's ok. What we got was really good. I had the rancher and my wife got the grilled cheese BLT. They also carry quite a bit of locally grown foods along with the rest of the building I believe being used as a farmers market. read more

Sometimes a random side trip marks a highlight of your day. Cruising back from a long weekend in DC through the sleepy farm towns along 404, we spotted this red brick schoolhouse with enticing open banners flying out front. At first glance, it looked to be an arts center. We like art so we decided to check it out. Figured it was a ceramic or glass studio based on the shiny new industrial vents on the rear of the building. Imagine our delight when we saw the art here was culinary! This old Caroline schoolhouse is now home to the culinary arts program for the local high school. Once inside, we joined a half dozen other customers grabbing a wide range of lunch choices. I've had a chicken salad sandwich here before and it was delicious. They also take orders for pre-made dinner by the students on Monday to be picked up on Wednesday's. Each week is a different dinner option. You do have to pay for it because it supports the school. It's always been good food. The chocolat evening they do every year is also lots of fun. read more

I found this place on Yelp. It was on our way to Rehoboth beach. This place is excellent. My Father in law is somewhat handicapped and he was able to get into the restaurant because they have an elevator. We all had sandwiches and soup plus salad. We were really happy we stopped here.
