First time at docs in several years. Our party of four came by boat and were able to use one of their slips on the side of the restaurant. They recently completed their outdoor dining renovation which consisted of a lower covered area and an upper deck with sweeping views of the tred Avon. We opted for the lower seating area as they only had high tops on the upper deck. The top deck also has shade covering. Great view of the river from both locations and we were very comfortable on a hot day due to a nice breeze as well as the fans they have on the deck. Chelsea was our server and she was efficient and personable. We opted for an order of onion rings, crab cake, mussels, coconut shrimp and a Burrata salad. we usually go to Capsize Restaurant by boat and docs clearly is bringing in more people which I suspect is largely related to their location on the river. Our food was mixed with the crab cake being a solid two star with too much filler and poor seasoning, tasted like one of the nasty crabcakes we get in Florida. The coconut shrimp were done nicely but the provided sauce was so hot that it took our guest breath away. My muscles were a solid four star and they mixed in spicy sausage and shrimp as part of the mix and it was very good. The garlic bread that came with it was in my opinion forgettable. The Burrata salad was a solid four star plus as was the avocado crab gazpacho which our guest had as an appetizer. Onion rings were OK but straight out of a box. All in all, I would gladly return especially during happy hour as I suspect they do a very big business. read more

We live in SOMD but we visit Doc's by boat frequently through the summer. We always sit at the outside bar. The staff has always been super friendly, and drinks and food have always come out very quickly. They have very good crushes and their seared ahi tuna is my favorite menu it. It's always fresh and a good cut of tuna. Many times when I order seared tuna at restaurants there is always a section that is extremely chewy but that's never been the case at Doc's. Their wings are also great and popular amongst the group we typically go to Doc's with. If coming by boat, I recommend getting there early to try and snag a slip or spot on the backside as it gets very rough docking in the front or side of the restaurant. read more

After a morning of boating and realizing that everything else in the area was closed (it was the day after Thanksgiving), my friend and I luckily found Doc's Sunset Grille online. We called, they said they were open, and they had plenty of boat parking spaces, score! There were a good number of people there so service was a bit slow, but someone eventually came and took our order. We shared the Hot Crab Dip and Crab Cake Platter (because why would you get a non-crab item while on the Bay?!?). Both were delicious. The crab dip was really heavy so I was feeling kind of full after eating just that. The crab cakes were huge and pretty tasty. Lots of fresh crab which I loved. Also came with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans, which I loved less. The green beans were a bit soggy and too garlicky for me. But the crab cake, yum! Not the best crab cakes I've had in the area, but super solid. Would definitely come back! read more

We just came in for a quick bite and a couple drinks at the bar. It was comfortably casual and cool and a welcome reprieve from the walk from the marina area on a hot day. Natalie the bartender was friendly and wonderful and the cocktails were delicious. I got the crab and avocado gazpacho, (not a go to choice for me, but I thought I would give it a try) and it was the best meal of my whole vacation- I should've ordered the large one!! It was absolutely refreshing in every way. My husband got the fish tacos and the grilled fish was perfectly cooked and filled with flavor. The fries were even great. We thought we would go for an early dinner, but there's was a 15 minute wait for outdoor tables. Lots of people both indoor and outdoor even before 6 pm. Location was fantastic, right by the water. Service and food were mediocre. We ordered a spinach salad and soft shell crab sandwich. Masks were not required, and it was crowded. Waitresses were busy, and it was hard to get their attention sometimes. We didn't linger longer for the beautiful sunset. Again this is a location-based restaurant, local people come here for family and friends gatherings. As passing by tourists, it was a good place to stop by to soak in the local culture and beautiful sunset - food was a secondary consideration. read more

We were blessed with a clear (if a bit chilly) early spring day and found Doc's. Nothing fancy, but my husband had done good oysters and a French dip sandwich. I had the shrimp blt and the shrimp were very plump and juicy. Delicious fries with a generous portion neither one of us finished. We hope to return! read more

Most managers when given constructive criticism in person or via social respond in a positive tone and happily welcome back the customer to offer a better experience. Other yelp users will see this professional response and feel welcome to come experience the establishment. Margaritas are not that complicated. It's surprising that after two weeks between visits the margarita was not improved. Previously I did mention to the bartender the margarita was not good and was offered a different drink. We found this lovely place last October, though we have been to Oxford 6 times in the past. We came for a quick 2-day stay on Friday, June 28th. On Saturday evening when our check came my Orange Crush was $12.49, when the menu clearly had $11 printed. The bartender said "he'd give me my $1.50 out of the register if I wanted", then later told me the price included the tax. Not true. We were in there the night before and two $12 drinks showed $12 each on my receipt (which I happened to keep from the evening before). I told the bartender who had a little attitude that it is false advertisement. Loved the atmosphere, but Doc's needs to update their drinks menu prices. read more
