Shore was amazing. I went to the ER there was NO wait. I was called in right away and finally got a doctor that cares. I have hospital anxiety and to be there in good hands made me feel so relaxed. I finally got the steroid and antibiotics I needed. After multiple doctor's visits saying they "could not prescribe" do not hesitate to get to Shore Medical Center. So many wrong things about this hospital. Security and front desk are rude and lazy. The hospital is extremely dirty, the bathrooms and hallways are never cleaned, neither is the linen emptied, especially in the lower level. Doctors and leadership have no idea how to care for patients. Studies are routinely ordered wrong on patients and nothing is done about it. Incompetent nurses and rude, antisocial or gossipy, snobby coworkers. Incompetence is ignored and the bullies are rewarded. Sad. read more

Horrific experinence. The ER nurses are nasty and dismissive of the patients rights to refuse anything they do not feel would be good for them. Try to say you would rather not get a 5000.00 cat scan for an imaginary blood clot when you take xarelto daily and they storm away as if it is afront to them. I have never experienced a more miserable group of RNs in my life and to think that these are who we are to trust with our lives, well get on your running shoes and run as fast as you can away from this hospital. read more

I passed out and hit my head due to flu symptoms so my mother called an ambulance for me. The ambulance EMT's took such great care of me but unfortunately they took me here. I have vasovagal syncope (seizure-like reactions) and i could barely catch my breath to speak. the "doctor" came and told me to stop crying or he would go help another patient because "they were so busy" (even though basically all the beds were empty and the nurses were sitting gossiping at the desk. I couldn't get a word out before he left. This sent me further into a panic attack to which the nurse reacted with anger and name calling. I told her I didn't feel safe and didn't want to be there if nobody wanted to hear what I had to say. She slapped a pen in my hand and told me "sign yourself out then nobody is forcing you to stay here". I suppose the frustration lit a fire under me and I was able to walk out. Multiple nurses asked me to stop crying and just sit down for help and I replied with "oh now you want to help? this might be a lawsuit you know". the final thing anybody told me there was the security guard saying "stop cursing". I guess if you want to waste time, money, and be treated like an animal just come here. Absolutely disgusting human beings. read more

Terrible experience! Absolutely no one in the ER waiting room when we arrived. Quickly filled up after we were there about 15 minutes. When I left (over an hour later) there was not one person EXCEPT ME in the waiting room!!!! One of the ladies that went in before me was treated and released, I was NEVER called back to see a physician. NEVER AGAIN will I go there for medical emergencies. read more

Parking issues while trying to visit my husband who is an inpatient at the hospital on Tuesday April 14, 2025. I didn't mind the $5.00 fee, however the walk to the garage with bags/ luggage items is rather hard for people whom have handicaps and there most of the day to visit love ones. I arrived at 8am drove around the garage trying to find a parking spot, all areas on the 1, 2 floor was full, finally parked on the 3rd floor after finding a handicap spot. When I returned, I was sent down back down to the 1st floor to pay at a kiosk machine to pay which meant I had to walk to level one to pay and before going to my car which was on the 3rd floor. I had left my ticket in the car thinking I would pay the $5.00 upon leaving the garage. This is too much for a elderly lady to keep walking back and forth. Most people would like to visit their love one's daily and don't mind giving the employee's a tip. My experience as a lady was overwhelming. I asked some of the medical office staff in the building some questions about the kiosk procedures and no one really knew, because the healthcare visits for parking are free for them. My wait was at least 2 hrs because no one could help me until the parking committee came and helped. The old free parking lot is now for the doctors only. read more

BEWARE: my mom died at Shore last weekend. Someone there stole her phone that had her wallet attached. So no protocol as to handle personal belongings for someone that has died there? Disgusting. The representative for the security team who I spoke to was adamant that she didn't have phone on her, however I called and spoke to my mom AND the ICU doctor and nurse ON HER PHONE. It's in the nurses notes that the phone was turned into security after she passed. The security guard did however go on to detail horrific, and unnecessary details about her clothing items as to why they were not saved, IN THE LOBBY. Apparently not only is there no protocol on how to handle personal belongings, but no sensitivity training either. A police report has been filed. Whoever stole this from a dead woman should rot in hell, and hopefully be fired too. read more

ER was practically empty. I was taken in because of a broken arm. This Memorial Day weekend 2024 and I got asked about being vaccinated. PA Lisa commented on my hydration --I said my water bottle broke in the fall. Think she would offer me some water? They asked if I had anyone at home to take care of me. I said no. Think they would ask for a regular cap on my prescription? I had to telephone someone open the bottle. They asked about my pain level, I said 8 (out of 10). Think they would put an ice pack on my broken arm? I guess they were out of bandaids because they just casted over the abrasion on my right hand. The sling looks it came from a dollar store. LPN Amber was very considerate, she rated the star. They told me I was discharged but left the bed rails up. No one helped me, I shimmied off the bed. read more

Nurses are typical mean girl personality. Care was less than professional. First time mom and was overly drugged with tremors after. My son almost died bc they failed to notice his heartbeat lowering for almost ten minutes. Nurses were rough handling me after surgery. read more

My wife was in the hospital for 4 days for kidney stones. The ER was less than professional, the nurse staff and doctor was more concerned about completing their online continuing education than patient care. The doctor even said he had other patients with more important issues. Once admitted to the hospital the nurse staff was negligent. Some examples not everything I. 3 hours to get water refilled after requested 2. Sheets were not changed when requested. My wife change them herself. 3. Urine collection was barely emptied even when requested. Allows overflowing. 4. Spoke to the floor supervisor but that person never followed up after. 5. Leg compressions were provided but when asked to disconnect to go to the bathroom. Took so long that almost had an accident in bed. 6. The communication from the doctors was almost non existent. Offered no idea of next steps, what to expect. When checked out they never showed up or even offered paperwork with at home instructions 7. The nurse was there for checkout. When asked about diet was told to limit salt and check google....really The folllowing day we were fortunate to make a trip to Jefferson in Philadephia. In a one hour visit my wife now has a treatment plan, scheduled surgery, doctor provided information on care and even did a hand drawing of what was going on. In a 1 hour visit she learned more and had better care than 4 days in that hospital. If we ever need hospital care we will now go to Atlanticare or Philadelphia. read more

My husband passed away at shore Medical Center in January 2021. Well it is almost a year that he has passed away I feel the need to share my experience. Saturday January 26 my husband was not able to breathe. I called 911 and AtlantiCare responded. They came in with no equipment and just sat with me as we waited for the ambulance. We waited 45 minutes for an ambulance! We live across the street from the hospital. If I had known that would take that long for an ambulance to come I absolutely would have gotten my husband down the steps and into my car. By the time I got to the hospital he was in critical condition. The doctor called me and said that he did not think my husband was going to live. He called me again and said that they wanted to put him on a ventilator. He said that if they put him on the ventilator he would have to live like that for the rest of his life. My husband is 72 and in good condition. I asked if I could come and visit and he told me there was no time. The next phone call I got said that Bill had passed away and they weren't really sure what happened. They think he was trying to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. He was in ICU at that time. They said he fell out of bed and hit his head and that they were not sure if he died before or after he fell on the floor. They said when they picked him up there was no heartbeat. This reflects nothing but sheer disregard. I would think that if you were in ICU there would be someone there to prevent you from trying to get out of bed. I contacted attorneys but found that I really did not have a case. I am writing this review to warn others of the negligence of shore medical center read more

I have had so many visits here, all the times I have gone here wasn't the best experience, but, this review will be based on the last time i was here which was a couple of months ago September 2021. Because my problem was with my chest, they brought me in right away from the ER. The staff was very caring and professional. While I was there, there were so many people in there from side effects from the Covid-19 vaccine. Nurses were running around trying to help everyone they could. They seem to be running a tight shift. I did have to wait awhile before seeing a doctor and getting my test, but, this was to be expected with the amount of people that were there. I was admitted into the hospital, but, in a holding area till they found me a bed. During my stay in the holding area, I was treated so nicely by the staff it almost felt like I was a celebrity; they took such nice care of me. The staff were mostly women, accept the nice man who took me to CT-Scan, he was also super friendly and had the nicest bed side manners. My over all experience here was far from what I was used to getting in the past. I'm not sure what they did to their staff, but, it has been an extra great experience going to this hospital this time around and the staff deserve to be commended for all their hard work. $500.00 to get tested for Covic19. I couldn't believe that they actually charge five hundred dollars if you're uninsured. I know now!

Unfortunately, the ER is a joke. Maybe they are overworked. The doctor never even entered my room. I didn't have a contagious condition. Never really saw a doctor. He just popped his head in at the doorway and told me the results of my CT scan. The billing department is even more of a joke. They send you multiple conflicting bills for the same exact services with amounts that don't tally mathematically. When you call to question bills they give you the run around and tell you things that went on behind the scenes that are not reflected on your bill but still they expect you to pay a bill that makes no sense. Very unprofessional all the way around. Avoid this place if you can. read more

I've had a few positive experiences here over the years but the most recent visit was concerning. One nurse seemed inexperienced or just incompetent but the rest were wonderful. The Dr was just ok. The emergency room was littered with medical trash including tubes of blood under my gurney. I had an hours long wait to go to a room and day long wait to be discharged. The area of the hospital I stayed in was is in need of a refresh looking old and unclean. The worst thing was it seemed nobody knew what the others were doing or had done. I'm glad I wasn't unconscious. Nurses tried to give me meds I didn't need. They need to get it together. read more

DEAD AFTER BEING DENIED PROPER TREATMENT: My uncle came in an ambulance yesterday and was thrown out instead of being admitted and treated properly. This man was in a a wheelchair, missing half of his left leg, half of his right foot, a finger, on dialysis, couldn't even hold his head up or move hardly at all, battling so many different illnesses and was told to leave. He was so bad off he couldn't get in the truck so they sent two people to shove him in it. We called another ambulance to Atlantic City Hospital as soon as he got home and he died four blocks away from the house. Thank you Shore Memorial on your excellant care and how well you treated our loved one. Not everyone is just "chasing opiates"! IGNORANT MATERNITY NURSE: I also gave birth there a year ago. I noticed my baby couldn't cry. It sounded muffled. I mentioned this multiple times until the nurse got annoyed and took the baby to clear her out. The same nurse kept saying how pathetic my baby was being. The baby still sounded strange but they blew it off. My new nurse the next day took her and the baby turned blue and was rushed to the NICU. My daughter was born with a paralyzed vocal cord which caused lack of oxygen when she cried. This hospital is awful. Not the entire hospital but enough of them to make it terrible. read more

You were stitching my leg so intensely, but all I could feel was the insanely heavy beating of my heart for you and a euphoria that could not be explained. My leg wasn't shaking from the pain, but shaking from my giddy school girl crush. I was high on you. People say it was the meds. If it was just meds, then why do I still feel this way about you? I saw the way you were checking my buttocks out in my backless patient gown. I saw the way you were eyeballing my chart. You really cared about me. Well guess what, doc? I care about you too. I could not take my eyes off your gigantic syringe. My god, that tetanus shot hurt. It was expected, as you warned me with your gentle and caring voice whispering those sweet nothings into my ear. Worst Hospital I've ever had to go to. Need a poop sample? How long does it need to sit in your hospital room before someone comes to get it? I think 4 hours before you have to remind a nurse should be long enough. If you need to stay for any length of time you will have to ask for your sheets need to be changed. ( that rash on the back.what do they call that? oh yeah...BED SORES ..could it have been from sweating in bed for 5 days) And if your there for ANY length of time and unable to get out of bed due to illness...well your outta luck getting help in the shower let alone a sponge bath.Even if you are there for 2 WEEKS!! Need a test? A procedure? You probly won't be able to eat till you get it done, whether or not you get anestesia. And if you get it done in the afternoon,even though it as scheduled for morning..well, the kitchen doesn;t open till 5. They claim they can not even get a box of Cherrio;s And Doctors..Well you do get alot....and you get.what you get,,,even if his specialty is infectious disease and your there for a FRACTURE. Sorry Grandma..must suck being 82 and having to rely on people that are called Doctors and Nurses. I recently had a car accident and went inside to get my body and head checked. The main doctor was very rude. After hearing all of this information that I gave him, he said "well your leg isn't broken since you walked in here so we not taking an X-ray" didnt check my head for an ct scan even after hearing how I have a history of concussions. Overall just a terrible experience. They tried to rush me out. I'm going to another place to get my body and head checked out and if anything is wrong. It's all due to the negligence of the doctors. They rushed my girlfriend out the last time she came there too. They didn't give me any legit paperwork, just overall terrible. read more

FANTASTIC experience with the pediatric nurses here. Our nine-year-old daughter got some stitches in her leg before coming down for a beach vacation. Time to get the stitches out, and we brought her to the ER here. The first nurse, with a welcoming Manchester accent, might as well have had a magic wand and crinolines, she was a kind, gentle, welcoming fairy godmother. The second nurse was a bluff, no-nonsense, horsey woman who was kind, informative, answered all our questions, (and even validated our parking.) I was not expecting to find a hospital at the beach that is even better than my excellent hospital at home. Highly, highly recommended. PS. The local Avalon urgent-care facility does not take insurance, and this hospital does, so depending on how your health-care is set up, this may also be the least expensive choice for you, too. read more

Was brought in by ambulance Thanksgiving morning. Staff was kind compassionate and very attentive. Nurses here are stellar even in the midst of this pandemic. I was here for three days in isolation and felt very safe with all the safety measures taken due to covid. The staff was also kind enough to take my family's calls since they could not come to see me. Thank you for the care! read more

The emergency room staff is great, however, I had to be seen by the OBGYN on the third floor since I'm in my third trimester and he is so obnoxious. Dr. Carfagno is sarcastic and rude, not at all what you want when you see a doctor regarding horrible pains during pregnancy. If you're pregnant and need to be seen, go somewhere else. Our 9-month-old developed a fever while vacationing with our family. This was our only option, as it was Sunday and the urgent care center was closed. We were checked in quickly, but it took the PA nearly an hour to see us, despite there not being many patients. The RN who came in first said she suspected hand, foot and mouth disease, but said he doctor would take a closer look. That never happened. When she finally arrived, she half-heartedly looked in his ears, saying they were a little red, listened to his chest, and didn't look in his mouth at all because he was crying (as infants with fevers typically do). She never told us anything about hand, foot and mouth disease--not whether she thought he had it, nor symptoms, what to expect, or what constitutes an emergency. When we asked about it she blew it off as a virus, and said there's nothing to be done about it anyway except throw Tylenol at it. She spoke a mile a minute, did not seem to want to spend more than one minute with us, and seemed aggravated when I asked to clarify the answers to my questions because I didn't catch the fire hose of apathetic responses we got. It took her 30 more minutes to type up a prescription for what "might be" a bacterial infection around his mouth. Though, if the spot she was referring to was hand, foot and mouth, we'd be applying that medicine to our infant for no reason. Needless to say, it wasn't a great experience, particularly for a first time mom of a child with his first fever far away from home. read more

If u are pregnant and u need d maximum support through your our labour and delivery... I bet you you would be grateful.. I can't explain how grateful i am to all the support i got while delivery my son. I just can't put my experience in words. For ykdb; I just had a CAT Scan, great Machine, not the tube type and MS SUSAN PAUL in the CAT Scan dept is top shelf. Ms Paul is a true example of what Shore needs more of; professional, very knowledgeable and makes sure the job is done right! I was born at Shore, raised in Somers Point, had 3 of my 4 children at Shore. I left for a while because of the cold bad attitudes of some of the staff at Shore. Because of Ms Susan Paul, I'll be using Shore for now on. Thank you so much for having her there. read more

Thanks to the hospital for giving me heatstroke. I had to sit outside the ER for 2 hours in 90 degree waiting for my husband and was not allowed to sit inside the main hospital WAITING area. I had a mask, there was no one else anywhere to be seen but security wouldn't let me stay. There's safety and there's common sense. Which SMH does not have. read more

My dad had an excellent experience at the hospital. We had to take him to the emergency room on a Saturday during covid. Dropped him off and had to leave so we were very anxious about the care he was going to receive. The nurses in ICU (Stephanie and Angel) were awesome! They were very attentive to his care. They called to give us updates the entire time he was in ICU. His Doctor, Dr. Millili was also very personable and explained the procedure and why he had to get operated on sooner than later. Thank you to the staff at Shore Memorial for taking care of my 87 dad, especially when we could not be with him. My dad was discharged on Wednesday and feels great! read more

My mother received wonderful care with her hip replacement. Staff was attentive prior and following surgery, both to her and me as her 'babysitter'. Room was comfortable and staff accompanied for extra chair and her needs. Coffee cart was a happy relief and turkey sandwich kept me going. No complaints from today this group. Dr Alber touched base before and after and James and Daisey (nurse and assistant) were exceptional. read more

Stay away! I was in ER last year for 3 hours and they sent a bill for over $12,000. They did all kinds of unnecessary tests for muscle cramps. Sorry excuse for a hospital. My father has extensive medical needs. With that being said, he was rushed by ambulance for a tumor had opened up and blood began to flow out. This hospital failed to notate him as a fall risk, usually a fall risk band is put on the patient. Also they failed to disclose his medical allergies to fellow staff members (my dad has a plate in his face, NO MRI among other things) with cancer obviously some type of scan is ordered to see what the medical staff is dealing with. Now to top it off, at discharge, he was given his discharge documents as well as a total strangers which included his Date of Birth, address, medical reasons of being there etc, etc. What ever happened to checks and balances? Like sir name and date of birth please, than ya this could of been prevented. To make a long story short, 6hrs in the ER 2 days ago and no one knows to this minute what "my" fathers discharge was/is!!! Ask yourself would you trust this type of medical center?
