I love our local library and how convenient it is to drive up of walk. I always place my books on hold so I can just swing by to check them out. I don't really browse the library, outside of the children's section. I'd rather know what I want, place the item on hold and they let me know when it's available for pickup. read more

Because this library is a bit of a drive from my home, I don't come here often, but it's nice to have this place as a "backup". If my home library doesn't have a book or DVD I want, then I check with Shoreline and usually I'm able to find it there. The staff here are really nice and l love that there are so many available parking spaces. It's a beautiful library; easy to get to and easy to find what you need. The staff is great if you ever have any questions. They also have big shelves of books for their book sale right in the front entrance. Not sure how much the books cost, but I'm sure I'll take advantage of their sales one day. I definitely recommend this library, even if you don't live in the area. It's great! read more

A beautiful and large, spacious library with plenty of parking! Inside the tall ceilings and rows and rows of books are quite inviting, with selection for everyone. Rooms inside are available for reserving, and also offer classes such as Little Scientists, where children can learn and explore things - this time: dinosaurs! read more

The Shoreline Library is a great public library in the King County Library System to come and search the shelves for a next read or two or find good reference books for a school project. There are abundant tables and work stations, which make research and project work easy. There are also little stools available in the aisles to help in reaching books on the higher shelves. The ground makes a comfortable place to sit when I don't want to go to work at a station. When I have come here in the past, the in-library reference books, and audio book selection has been wide. A number of computer work stations are available for use as well as both self check-out and in-person check-out options. The parking lot is large and there are nearby bus (metro/transit) stops making the library easily accessible by public transportation. One of the bus stops is even covered which is nice if braving the natural elements while waiting for the bus and you don't want to get your library books wet. Most recently I came to the Shoreline Library today Friday the 16th of October 2020 to turn in my filled out and signed voter ballot to the ballot drop box. Currently there is construction going on and part of the parking lot is closed off, so I had to enter the parking lot from the back side of the library. Due to COVID-19 the Shoreline Library had reduced services on site that included curbside pick-up and an open book/item return. These are now both temporarily closed due to the construction. A fence was left open making access to the voting ballot drop box seamless. Just dropped my ballot in and I was good to go! Felt safe turning in my ballot here. read more

For a county branch library, this location has everything you could possibly want. I only visit to pick up my materials (dvds, cds, and lots of books) that I place on hold online on a weekly basis, but I always see community activities happening in the side rooms. I don't stick around much on my visits, but I appreciate what I have here. The librarians are always helpful and friendly. Lots of desks and tables everywhere, as well as reservable computer stations. If you happen to look up, the lighting is beautiful, especially from the outside. In another few weeks, all the surrounding cherry blossoms will make it one of the most beautiful library grounds. There always seems to be enough parking for everyone. I've never had to park on the surrounding neighborhood streets. read more

I love all library's and I'm a little biased since I'm born and raised in Shoreline. I love that this location is keeping up with the times and have updated things over the years. They have self check out and self check in of library materials. I like that you can do this on your own to save time and it gives you a receipt even. This location is bigger so there are always several staff members around to help answer a question. There is a big hold section divided between DVDs and books... Also, they have a big children's library and other sections of the library. Being a teacher, I alway come to this location because they have a good selection of Young Adult literature and kids books :) Another plus is that it's quiet and a great place to study. There are several computers you can use and even a copy machine if you're doing research. I even come here on the warmer days of summer it's a nice place to enjoy the AC and to read a book. read more

I've been a patron of this library for 19 years and I love how it keeps growing and improving for the community. I don't really come to hang out and peruse the shelves like I did in my high school years, but I do request purchases and pick up my holds from this specific location. The staff must think me crazy to keep asking them to buy books for me. But I figure, they got me hooked on the series in the first place... It has a wide range of books, knowledgeable staff, computers, copiers (that have been replaced by copier/scanner/possible faxing machines), easy to navigate website, organized holds bookcases, and a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. For people who don't have ready access to printers, patrons are allowed 75 black and white printed pages a week (color costs more "units"). They even have self-checkout and self-check in. The self-check in is more than a chute to toss your books in; its a machine that scans the barcode so that it actually checks the book back in. Parking is better since they expanded it a few years ago. There are even 5-min dropoff/pickup spots, that probably get terribly abused. Or accidentally abused by people who venture beyond the outdoor return machines and get sucked into the wonders of a library. This location offers tutoring, ESL practice, children's programming, and even free counseling sessions by licensed professionals. They also have generous weekday hours (open til 8 PM!) but their weekends end around 5 or 6 PM. read more

While I don't live in Shoreline, I live close enough that I've checked out their library. For starters, they are open later than my local Seattle branch and has a parking lot twice the size. They do holds the same way as SPL does, basically you request a book and once it arrives at the closest branch to you, you are notified once they arrive. Access to plentiful computer terminals and friendly staff, I highly recommend using this public resource. I want to mention again the staff at this branch. They really seem to go above and beyond what's needed to give good customer service. One guy offered to help an older gentleman out to his car when he was struggling to balance his bag of newly checked out books with his other belongings. read more

It took me a while to get used to the idea that this is a large library. I moved from Maryland where my large library was almost twice the size of this location. Once I got over that I fell in love with this library. A few years ago the library started major renovations starting with the parking lot. They are again making further renovations to the inside so the current book return is outside the front doors. What I really love about the KCLS is that you can request any books and the library will pull them and place them on a hold shelf. You get about a week to pick them up once you're notified they are in. The library is very organized. I've never had a problem finding anything. It's very obvious to me that everyone who works here enjoys their job and helping people. There are tons of computers with internet access. The computers are always busy but there is a special station that you can use to make a reservation for a computer if they are all in use. No more jockeying for a computer. When it's your turn you can just go over to the computer that you've been assigned and log in. I don't normally have to wait for a computer at this library though. I believe there is a 60 minute time limit on the library computers. However if you bring your own laptop there is unlimited free wi-fi. In addition to books you can also check out movies and music. read more

I'm pleasantly surprised at the libraries in the county, because God knows the libraries in San Diego suck, or non-existent, or suck because they're non-existent. You get the picture. Plenty of parking, study tables, ample room to breathe, stretch out and read, ya know? It's conveniently located, spacious, and just an overall pleasant building to study in. I love me some library. And KCLS has made the library business super accessible for everyone. I love their website; you can request books, DVDs and CDs for hold that are brought to your local branch. You can also renew your currently checked out items online (a brilliant touch, you rascally devils!). The Shoreline branch is conveniently located and they have a great set-up. I can walk in, grab my held items and self-checkout within 5 minutes. My first trip in, a lovely library assistant gave me the dime tour and showed me how to use their computers. And the best thing is that its all FREE!!! And people say that libraries are at a technological disadvantage???? RIDICULOUS! read more

I was mostly impressed, when I was not at the library, with how they mailed me all the R-rated VHS and Explicit Lyrics CDs I wanted in their system. I'm giving props to the whole King County library system. It's great for the simple fact that everything is online and I can reserve a book/ DVD/ or music from Woodinville and pick it up at the local branch. That said the Shoreline Branch is great for being conveniently located right off the freeway, with lots of parking, plenty of computers, and a couple of meeting rooms to boot. It's not the most comfortable place, but then again just reserve the book online, pick it up, and find a coffee shop to read it in. read more

The KCLS (King County Library System) is wonderful!! I have been coming here all my life, and it is one of the larger libraries of all the KCLS. Everything is well organized, including their website, catalog, browsing for DVDs, Music, Books, anything! If you can't find what you are looking for, all you have to do is either go online to place a hold, or tell a staff member, and they will kindly assist you. Some of my favorites about this library is that they have quite a collection of computers. Probably more than you would expect. Printing won't cost you anything-you can print up to 75 pages/week. This is great esp. if you are in school, and have to print out articles/readings. They have a great collection of Asian music-which I love, because I always look forward to the new CDs they put out almost every other month or so. They also have great programs/classes (i.e. for tax returns, toddler reading) for free. My mom brought her tax return for help, and they did the rest for her! Always free local newspapers, quiet, study tables/private study rooms, lots of helpful resources, conveniently located (& with now more parking spaces) All thumbs up!!! read more

The Shoreline Library is very convenient for those living in N. Seattle. It's only about 10 minutes by freeway from Northgate up to the 175th exit (with moderate traffic), and it's a large regional library with a good selection of materials and plenty of computer terminals. Even when the computers are all taken, I seldom have to wait long before I get one. I do wish that you weren't limited to only 1.5 hours of computer time, but I suppose that's why the wait isn't so long. The Library has a good children's and young adults selection, helpful reference librarians, and study areas with good lighting. You can also place books and materials on hold here (as at any library). There are self-check out terminals so you don't have to wait in line at the desk(you just scan your library card and then put in your pin number). The only complaint I have about this branch is that it gets noisy during after school hours when middle and high schoolers come in to play computer games and do their homework. Librarians don't actually "shush" as often as the stereotype suggests, however, they will be glad to ask noisy patrons to quiet down a bit if you ask. And I've found that a kind "would you mind being a little quieter? Thank you" does the trick pretty well when there's not a librarian around. Besides, it's still not as loud as a cafe. read more

The one of the best libraries I ever saw! Me and my daughter visited this place today. That is so nice they work on Sundays! I needed to print few sheets of paper because I was far away from the office. Guys explained to me everything I need to do that. My daughter had a lot of fun playing at the library premises. It looks like the square is so huge as a stadium! No problem with parking, nice building surrounded by trees. Since it is King County library (not a Seattle), print is free here. No troubles with cash etc. So clean, well air-conditioned. Of course, personnel guys are so nice! I recommend this place to everyone! read more

Came here looking for a book, but would have to wait for ten other people. The library assistant was willing to look up the Snohomish county library system and the Seattle public library system for me, nice of her. Well, I couldn't wait and we found an option for an audio book. The library assistant and I went through the motions of signing up an account, digitally checking out a book, and downloading the digital copy. I really appreciated her taking the time to help me. On top if that, it was my luck that there was a free class on using digital library materials on tablets in half an hour. I sat down with another library assistant who walked me through the different apps i could use, how to check out a copy, the entire process. I'm deducting one star because not everything is available digitally, but I'm checking again in another year. The two individuals I worked with were really helpful in getting me set up. read more

I've been coming to this library for years. While I don't really come here to check out books to read for fun anymore, I do come here for other reasons. This past semester in college, I would come here with my tutor to work on math once a week. We never had a problem finding a table to study at, and the noise level was good for us to be able to concentrate in. I also come here quite a bit for printing when I am in school. If you have a library card, you can print 75 pages or "units" as they call them every week. (note: 1 color page = 3 units). This is a great resource if you don't have access to a printer or just don't want to use up all your ink at home! I haven't had much interaction with the librarians in recent years, but whenever I needed help in the past, they were always friendly. This is a good place to come for a relatively quiet study/reading area. read more

Screaming kids everywhere, homeless people smell on the chair and table near me, a smelly looking dumb arse in front of me who kept talking on his phone with speaker phone on even though it was a designated "quiet" area, another dumb arse behind me whose phone kept alerting every 20 seconds, porta potties for restrooms because the real restrooms were under going renovation...not going back to this library. read more

The librarians never deal with people making a lot of noise. Kids run around screaming, people talk on cell phones with loud ringers, people have loud conversations. The manager of the library told me that if I did not like it I should buy a home computer. They said that the heard the guy next to me laugh loudly while he was watching a video on his computer, but they refused to do anything since I was the only person complaining. The librarians have been nasty to me because I complain about the noise. The 2 hour computers and quiet study rooms are always in use when I am there. Otherwise, I would have given the library 5 stars. read more

Each of the King County Library System branches has its own head librarian. Although this branch is on my way to-and-from almost everywhere, its not my favorite. The space feels and sounds like a train-station. The collection on the shelves here is "Lite" and one of the help desk librarians actually tells people to check Google!
