I'm writing to share my recent customer experience at Shottenkirk (24th & Locust in Quincy, IL). I FLEW to town for a week from Denver, Colorado to shop for a vehicle where my co-signer lives (my hometown, Quincy), and had been to countless dealerships in the area during my visit searching for a vehicle that fit my needs. The salesman Blake stood out among the dozens of interactions I had through the entire process, and is a shining example of professionalism and customer service. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable of the products he was selling, but working in sales/customer service myself, not once did I feel I was being 'sold' anything, and he quickly established rapport with me. Blake genuinely cared and listened to what I was telling him I was looking for and provided options fitting my needs in a very impressive timely manner and answered any questions I had. There were times during my interactions with him where I needed to rush the process along in order to get on the road for the very lengthy drive back to Colorado, and his execution of hustle and sense of urgency never once affected the quality of the customer service he demonstrated. I am so impressed with the customer service I received from Blake that I vow to not shop at ANY other dealership regardless of my residence (remember, I currently live in Colorado), and I promise to frequently recommend all my friends and relatives in Quincy to head directly to him when shopping for a vehicle. Went in to buy a car that I found online. The price was around $25,700. They came back with their sheet starting the price at $30,500 and added $4,000 in "extra" fees including the Premium service that I have no interest in. They would NOT honor the price in their website. They claimed the car prices fluctuate daily. read more

Originally called on 11/13/24 to make an appointment because the date I was looking to have my vehicle serviced wasn't yet available online. Spoke with Trina who claimed to have set an appointment for me. She didn't ask for a phone number or an email address which I found odd and as she was hanging up, I overheard her say it was a wrong number that called in. Scheduled an oil change and diagnostic check (because our check engine light was going on and off) for the date that I needed the following week online. Got a confirmation email and text, which further proved that Trina didn't actually schedule my appointment, since I didn't receive either after the phone call with her. Arrived at my appointment on 11/03/24 a few minutes before 8am, greeting was less than stellar from both Trina and the other man working the service desk. They couldn't find my appointment, ended up writing down the info I'd already filled out online. Got the car checked out, was told I needed a new turbo. Got the info on how much it would cost and when they'd have the part in by. Told Rick I could come back on Monday morning since I was heading up to MN for Thanksgiving. Was handed the keys, which I was confused about since I hadn't paid for the oil change yet. Asked about that, which they hadn't done (not sure why since that was one of the services I'd scheduled) Rick said they'd fit me in. About 10-15 minutes later my car was out front and I was ready to pay. Rick said they'd add it to the tab for the service on Monday. Which I thought was odd, but Rick seemed like a pretty trust worthy guy, so I took the keys. There was a new sticker from Shottenkirk Chevy on the windshield, which didn't have a date of service but mileage for the next service. Checked my Cruze's oil dash, which was reset and said that the oil life was at 100%. Came in today on 12/02/24 arrived a few minutes before 8, again no actual greeting just asked what I was there for. Mind you, I was there for almost 3 hours and saw many other customers come in and were greeted with an actual hello or how are you. Told them what Rick told me. Was told the service would take about 2-3 hours, which it took just under 3. Looked at the bill, which didn't have the added amount for an oil change. When I got to the car, checked the invoice and the mechanic who serviced the car wrote in the notes for my car that I needed an oil change. Half of the services that I SCHEDULED for my appointment on 11/03 weren't actually completed and was lied to my face that it was. Hopefully they were being honest about my car needing a new turbo, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. UPDATE::::::::::::::::::::: Chatted with the GM about my experience, apparently Rick thought there was some miscommunication. Which isn't sitting right with me, because that is not the truth. I've added some photos to make clear that there was no miscommunication. The mileage on the invoice from Photo 1 is from when I first brought the car in on 11/03/24 (wasn't updated for this service, not sure how important that actually is) As you can see from the service sticker, next recommended service is exactly 5000 miles from the mileage posted on the invoice. How would have I gotten said sticker, if it wasn't brought in? Either it was brought in the back and a sticker was just slapped on without any work done, or it was serviced. If you look at the Photo 2, you can see the mechanic who serviced the car today says it needs an oil change. The obvious answer is that it wasn't serviced and there was no miscommunication, a sticker was slapped on with no actual work being done. I'm sure if you look at the cameras from 11/03/24 between 8am-10am you'll see that what I wrote above is exactly what happened. read more

These guys are crooks. They can spot someone that doesn't know what they are doing from a mile away. If you care about your money or someone you know that's buying a car, don't go here or tell your loved ones not to go here. Then they lie to you after you realize you've been had. read more

I've never had a bad experience in getting my car fixed here. You might pay more here, but they offer to drive you home, drive you to get some food if you get hungry, and keep you pretty informed while they're tending to your car. Their repairs are quality work and I've never had to come back after a repair for the same reason. Great service that I'm happy to pay extra for. read more

My father-in-law brought his truck here to see if they would be will to buy it back because he didn't use it and trucks were hard to find. It has been a couple months and they still haven't given him any money. Every time he talks to them they tell him the check will be mailed in two weeks. They are taking advantage of an 81 year old veteran. read more

Several years ago I was "approved" to buy a car from these people. They let me drive the car for almost a week while they completed the loan papers and got whatever final approval they said they needed. When I went to sign the paperwork, I suddenly did not qualify for the loan. They tried to make me buy a piece of crap car that had been beat to heck and told me that was all I could get. I walked away after having to make a scene in their showroom just to get my car back. They had already cleaned my car out and put a "for sale" sign in the window. I had not even signed it over to them yet. They refused to give me my car and were pressuring me to buy their piece of crap until I got loud. I threw the keys at the finance guy and that's when they finally gave me my own car back. Of course, they had already taken all the gas out of it as well. A few years later my son asked me to cosign on his car loan and he wanted to go through them in spite of my experience. I cosigned. Another switcheroo and suddenly the car is in my name not his. I have had nothing to do with the car. He even got it refinanced in his name, removing me from all affiliation with it completely. For the last year, I get call after call from Shottenkirk - Kenny Englud in particular - telling me to sell them my car (which is NOT my car). I have asked repeatedly for them to stop calling me. I yelled at the salesperson. I yelled at the manager. I went to their showroom and got really rude with their manager. They are still calling. Now they have taken to sending me letters in the mail, in spite of the fact that I've "been removed from their database and will never be bothered by them again." These guys are crooks and liars. I am sending written notice to them today that if I am contacted one more time that I am seeking legal advice from my attorney and will be pursuing a harassment lawsuit. It is insane that you can tell them so many times to leave you alone and they refuse to. Never in my life - if they were the LAST dealership in the world - would I EVER do business with these cheats. read more

We were traveling from Ft. Leonard MO to MN when out car broke down. There was 10 of us traveling in 2 cars. I called Shottenkirk to see if they could look at our car that day (a Friday) They said they could and asked how we were getting our dead car to their shop. I told them AAA would tow the car but we were trying to figure out how to get all our people there. They said no problem and sent a passenger van to pick us up. Within 2 hours we were back on the road and on our way home. Shottenkirk made a bad situation as good as we could have hoped for. read more

I don't even know where to begin. We came to purchase a vehicle. Left an hour and a half later upset and bewildered and without doing so. We went across town to a reputable dealership and completed a transaction within another hour. Maybe it was just luck of the draw with the disgruntled salesman who chose to help us here. I'm sure there are great sales people who believe in good customer service since we have been here previously and had good experiences. We picked out and test drove a vehicle and were ready to purchase. We have private financing with a large down payment but prefer to keep the talk with the salesmen strictly on the trade in value of our vehicle and the final purchase price of the new one since we handle the rest ourselves. For some reason, this did not bode well with the salesman we were unluckily paired with. I honestly can't remember a time when I've left anywhere with tears in my eyes over the way a salesmen treated me or talked to me like I did today. We love Chevrolet so we wish the best for this dealership, but hopefully future customers are treated better. UPDATED TO ADD: IT GETS WORSE! The salesman told us we needed to fill out a form in order for them to see how much we owed on our vehicle. I flat out asked him if this was checking our credit. He said no it was just looking up the loan. I then again flat out said, do not check our credit since we have financing we don't need inquiries on our reports. I had a bad feeling about it so I checked our credit reports today, AND THERE IS A HARD INQUIRY FROM SHOTTENKIRK CHEVROLET. Without our permission and for absolutely no reason. I bought a used truck a couple months ago from here. The add online said the truck was "immaculate inside and out". When I first went to look at the truck, I was told that the truck hadn't been detailed or checked mechanically yet since it had just come in on a trade a couple days before. It had its share of dents and dings, and wear on the interior, definitely not "immaculate" but that's what happens when you buy a used vehicle. Not an issue. After looking at what I could in the parking lot, I agreed to buy it for what they were asking for, AS LONG as everything checked out mechanically after the mechanics went though it. When I went back to pick it up a week later I was told everything checked out and I was good to go. They even put new breaks on the rear wheels. Cool right! Well no. I get it back home and take it to my mechanic. Turns out, the truck needs a whole new front end. Ball joints bad, tie rod ends bad, track arm bad, and both front shock seals blown. Several belts were cracked and dry rotted as well. I understand I bough a used vehicle and it isn't going to be perfect, but I DON'T consider needing several new belts and a new front end a vehicle that is "good to go". The whole reason I decided to buy from a dealership and not an individual was to hopefully avoid these kinds of problems. The only reason I'm giving them two stars was because of how nice the head financial lady was. read more

Once again, my 2016 traverse is in the shop. On January 8th while coming home from St. Louis, my check engine light came on followed by a knocking sound in the motor. We made an appointment to get it checked out. 2 days later they put it on the computer and it showed that the #6 coil out. They ordered parts and 'repaired' it 2 days later. The next day my car did the same thing. We drove it back to Quincy and told them to fix it. On the following Monday, they called and told me there was nothing wrong with my car and to just drive it. On Friday, January 20, the check engine light flashed and the knock in the motor got louder. Saturday we took it back to the shop to get fixed. Since Monday, there has been 368 codes that showed up on the computer. It also said that it is only running on 3 cylinders. We called this morning to see what was wrong, and they don't think it is a big issue.., and that they are only concerned about getting back their loaner vehicle before Wednesday. Shottenkirk Chevy in Quincy IL, has done nothing but a TERRIBLE job. Their technicians have been nothing but rude and don't care about the concerns I have with my vehicle. This is the 6th time in less than one year that I have had to have a loaner vehicle because my new car has been in the shop. Shottenkirk Chevy, has not taken good care of its customers. read more
