Tuesday hubs decided he wanted to get rid of the Honda Civic. He said the car didn't have enough horsepower and didn't shoot snow out of the ac. He suggested we look at trucks. I wasn't sure about that but I agreed to go look. We went to the Honda dealer in Huntsville and he drove a Honda Ridgeline. The truck had a V6 and it felt like snow was coming out of the air conditioning. We left Honda and drove to Decatur to the Toyota dealer. Hubs drove a Tacoma and I did too. I hurt my knee getting in and out of the Tacoma and I didn't care for the ride. I told hubs let's go to Shottenkirk Honda in Decatur. We stopped by and I drove a Honda Ridgeline there. I liked the ride. The Ridgeline wasn't the color hubs wanted so we asked them to find a white truck with light interior. They located a vehicle and had it delivered Wednesday. We drove back Wednesday and purchased a white Honda Ridgeline. It's a beautiful truck. Our salesman, Kasten, did a great job. He made sure all the details were taken care of so that when we arrived, we were able to sign paperwork and leave with the truck. I dislike this place terribly! We maintain our cars very well and every time we go there whether it's my car or my son's car on an occasion, you get a detailed inspection report adding hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for you to approve or deny. I recently took our Honda pilot in for service and they recommended $2100 worth of work. I looked at it and felt a lot of it was due because some of it was service date related. However, after scheduling this work, I take it in to get the work done and they do a new inspection report an offer me another couple thousand dollars worth of work to be done. So every time I go there, they add work on top of work at my expense. It just doesn't add up that when you take the car in for recommended work that you immediately get another report for recommended work. To me it feels like fear selling and I'm not gonna fall for that. read more

I started off the interaction by calling the dealership about the vehicle I wanted. I confirmed with the salesman the cars price, $47,500. I went to the store in Huntsville AL. I arrived and everyone was ready due to me making a appointment. I arrived and they told me I could go look at the vehicle while they do numbers. When I got to the numbers all a sudden the price of the vehicle jumped to 70k. I asked about the $47,500 and the salesman said that is what they show online. I asked to test drive another vehicle and the salesman sat in the back seat on his phone the entire time. Will drive to a different state if I have to before I deal with them again. My vehicle purchase was very positive. Impressed with the friendliness of the staff. My certified cars battery melted down within 2 weeks. I spoke to the used car sales manager, Jesse, who immediately empathetic. He agreed that they would refund the cost of the replacement battery. I dropped my car off for a recall which was Intel to replace the fuel pump due to faulty part from the factory. After they had it for day I get contacted they could not remove the backseat due to an amp wire that was ran beside it, which took them all day to tell me. When in fact, the backseat being removed has nothing to do with the actual wire, they is an issue. I will attach photos of the location of the wire that was keeping from removing the seat. What we have here obviously is a poor lack of leadership at this location. They have wasted my time and need better experienced management. read more

He sent me several photos of every scratch on the vehicle-- some were so small that I could barely notice them; this was a testament to his honesty. He made the process extremely quick and efficient. So, the same day that I agreed to the deal, I had the car in my garage, ready to enjoy. Finally, Kelsey in the finance department made the registration process as "easy and breezy as buying a car can be" (as she put it). The lights on my dashboard went completely dark. I brought it to Shottenkirk for my scheduled service and to diagnose the dashboard issue. The day before, I called and asked them if it was safe to drive or if it needed to be towed. The service writer told me that she had no idea, but would have a technician contact me. They never did. When I arrived for my appointment the service writer told me that I would be charged a diagnostic fee but if I went ahead and had the repair fixed with them that she would waive the fee. She told me that she would contact me about next steps and an estimate on the repair cost. Hours went by with no contact. The courtesy shuttle was scheduled to pick me up at 3:30. Around 3, I called and was told to leave her a voicemail. At 3:20 I called back, I was told that my car was ready. That I owed around $100. I questioned her because the diagnostic fee was quoted as more than that. I asked her about what was wrong with the dashboard? She replied," It was probably something minor and the technician took care of it." I asked her for more information. She put me on hold and said, "The instrument cluster must be replaced. The part is not available and will take more than a week to get. The parts and labor will be around $1200 without tax." Again, I asked if it was safe to drive with this cluster out. She had no idea. She just repeated that my car was ready to pickup it would be around $100 today. The shuttle picks me up and I get to the dealership. The service writer met me at the door and she told me the service was not complete and that I would have to wait in the waiting room. I waited at least 30 minutes, and I see my car ready to pickup, but the service writer is no where to be found. Several minutes went by and she finally comes to tell me that my car is ready. I get ready to pay and she tells me that I owe over $250. I ask her how it went from $100 to $250. She got defensive and told me that I would have to pay the diagnostic fee. I told her that I would gladly pay the diagnostic fee , but since the repair cannot be made for more than a week could the amount paid be applied to the cluster repair. She told me absolutely not. Then she looked at me and told me that I now owed an additional $900 today. I informed her that was just not going to happen. I paid her $250 and I was on my way. I would have asked to speak to her supervisor, but earlier in the day the shuttle driver told me that the Service Manager was away because she had a brand new grandchild and that she was with her daughter. Here are my complaints: 1. The service writer was unprofessional. 2. Their communication is abysmal. 3. Their story was inconsistent. 4. There is a disconnect with what the service writer knows and the expertise of the technicians. read more

Found an ad on Carfax....truck was priced at 23,897....after i called about the truck they changed the price to refleck a 1905.00 dollar increase. When they gave me the price on paper they wanted 2500 extra for gimic charges and almost 800 for dealer fees...i dont know about other people but im offended the dealership thinks people are.that stupid. They said i would get a better price if i financed the truck...sure so the finance mgr can perform even more magic in the form of more price increases in finance rates and insurance i dont need. Overall good car buying experience except for poor customer service after transaction. Drove 3 hours from Atlanta to purchase a car with options that are hard to find that they got in on trade. We had agreed on everything Thursday, but couldn't come in until Sunday. The sales associate didn't have a problem with that, I thought, and offered to come in on their off day, when the dealership is closed to accommodate my needs. When I got there to check out the car, I felt rushed as if I was an inconvenience to the sales associate, Jeff Raines. Two weeks after purchasing the vehicle, the car already needs new brakes which I was assured were good. Scared to see what other problems are going to be going on with the car if that wasn't disclosed. Would have taken it in for a Pre-Purchase inspection somewhere but have no knowledge of the area or anything open at the time. I have been to this location a few times for the service department which has consistently been fine. There was nothing that really stood out one way or the other. Upon initial inspection of my car on my most recent visit (12/15/18), I was told I needed 4 new tires as well as a new battery. The cost was of course more than other places for both services. I declined the tires (they quoted me $750), but allowed them to replace the battery ($120) for fear of it dying on me. While I was paying they informed me that there were cheaper tires they could offer me but I declined those as well. All in all everything was just ok. read more

After we purchased the vehicle, we got on the highway and it started pouring rain. I realized how much I take windshield wipers for granted because when I turned the wipers on, they were completely shredded and didn't work. Deal was rejected by the bank and i wasn't notified until almost 2 weeks later of having the car in my possession. And was told by Luis the finance director that this was normal and happens a lot. Has never happened to me in almost 40 cars purchased. And reached out to bank and was told that they responded in 24 hrs of the deal. I had already gotten insurance, tag and other things and got the disturbing call that the deal was rejected and i needed to figure out another solution. I contact my salesman, Mike and he responded that nothing was wrong with the deal and he didn't understand why I was upset while chuckling. He said that Luis didn't know what he was talking about and doesn't know why he said that. Mind you I had called another bank trying to get another loan because of what Luis told me. Then told me I needed to come back up there to resign paperwork and that nothing changed on the deal? Hmmmm. I get there and they raised the interest rate 5 points. Everybody is pointing fingers and acting like they have no idea what's going on. This is about the 8th trip to the dealership btw. GM hasn't come to speak with me or anything. Only manager came to ask if they could help was Cassidy. Very polite and listened to my frustrations and assured me he would find out what was going on and also validated that it was handled poorly. They were just worried about selling a car rather than taking care of the customer. Then no one wanted to take accountability, apologize or anything. Luis started all of this and never showed his face to make this right at all! I will never do business with them ever again. Professionalism, accountability and care in any business is mandatory. I recently bought a 2015 BMW I3 from Honda of Decatur. It was delivered to me in Huntsville after some defects were corrected. The next morning I found it had an airbag sensor alarm on when I started it up. The manager, Mason, was very accommodating and when I took it in to the BMW dealership covered the repair with no complaint and assured me that he wanted to make sure my experience with his company was enjoyable. When I got it back from the shop I found another problem and Mason once again told me to take it to the BMW dealership to get it fixed and that he would cover the cost. Mason was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience. Other than the fact that the defects were not caught by their crew before I bought the car their prompt and gracious response and no hassle about paying for the repairs to a car I had purchased as is I am very satisfied with the quality of service I received and will be happy to return when I am next looking to buy a vehicle read more

Do not buy a car from this dealer w/o taking it to a auto shop or inspection. These people are crooked, they will tell you one thing and do something else. I purchased a 2009 car from them and the car will just cut off in traffic and I took it back to them a few days later to have someone repair it and they said that there was nothing they could do. When I purchased a 2015 Honda Odyssey Touring, the salesman convinced me to add an extended warranty. He assured me that even though I usually don't keep a vehicle long enough for manufacturer's warranty to expire, that I would be able to get a refund should I trade or sell the vehicle. I traded my Honda on May 28, 2016, I went to Honda of Decatur a couple months later to sign the cancellation and provide the documents required to cancel the warranty. I was told that the cancellation would be sent to the warranty company and within 5 to 7 business days, they would get a quote as to how much money is owed to me. Since my Honda was financed, the refund would be sent to my lienholder. The lienholder would see that the loan has been repaid and return the check and it would then be mailed to me. I called the dealership yesterday and was told by "Larry" that I would need to talk to Diana. Diana's phone went to voicemail and wouldn't allow me to leave a message. I called back several times and no one would give me any information. I then, asked for the number for the warranty company. Larry told me that they would only tell me to contact Diana. I informed him that I would still like the number for them. He gave me the number and when I called, I was informed that Honda of Decatur hasn't sent them any paperwork on my cancellation. I have since called Diana several times but have yet to speak to her or get a return phone call. I sent the warranty company the information they need in order to cancel my warranty and hopefully get a long over due refund. This was the 2nd vehicle I bought from Honda of Decatur, but it will most definitely be my last. I have never seen such terrible customer service. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It will be well worth the drive to do business with a company that believes in service after the sell. read more

The engine light came on....my civic wouldn't start. I took the car to Honda and they "couldn't find the code" to fix it. I left, engine light comes back on. They find the code, test the part and decide it isn't broken. They can't "prove" that it is broken. So it looks like I have to sit on the side of the road until they can "prove" that it is a faulty part. The service guy acted like an attorney trying to defend his wallet as opposed to helping to keep a customer from being stranded on the side of the road. Steer clear. I would not recommend this dealership. Sale personnel are rude and even hang up on you. They are not committed to their word. The Dealer Manager was unresponsive to complaint of sales staff. I contacted the dealership for availability of a vehicle. I was told it was available and made an appointment with the sales staff to see the vehicle. I had email and phone contact with the sales staff and the vehicle was to be ready for my review at a specified time. Upon arrival the vehicle was being shown to someone else and the dealership was making a trade in of another vehicle. I phoned the sales person and told them it was unprofessional and no way to conduct business. That I was disappointed and would be taking my business elsewhere if this is how customers are treated. At that time the sale person stated where else would I find the low mileage vehicle I was expecting to purchase. As I had already been looking for a specific vehicle I had an answer.
