I just want to say I am so happy I called The Shouse Law Group to handle my Public Intoxication case which was not good for me because I was still on DUI probation for a .10 BAC. I had gotten the DUI 4 1/2 years earlier in Ventura County which is the strictest County you could ever get a DUI in. I was pulled over for swerving in and out of my lane. In 2019 I was arrested in Pasadena facing 25 years. this was my first time ever being arrested or charged with a crime, and I had 5 felonies. I thought my life was over. The first 3 times I went to (Pasadena) court I was assigned a public defender, who was not only extremely busy with other cases, but also did not seem to believe that I was telling the truth. Well, this is as good as it gets. It all started when I was looking for an attorney literally 1-2 days before the court date ON a weekend. Fantastic lawyer who went above and beyond Leo was hired by my family to assist in a case concerning a family member. Without going into all the details of the case Leo was simply amazing. With Leo's help we were able to get a result which included only a few days in jail. At the start of the process the DA would not negotiate past at least two years jail time so what was achieved was nothing short of a miracle (mixed in with a lot of hard work from Leo). Leo acted professionally at all times and made sure that we understood what was going on. In addition, Leo was able to single handedly negotiate a deal with the DA who were maintaining a very tough stance. We started in a position of being offered no room to negotiate, and ended in a position of being able to have all of our requests met which was very impressive. All credit to Leo for this. This particular case was made more complicated because of the non-US nationality and the mental health issues that the defendant suffers. If you're reading this because you've been charged with a DUI and are trying to weigh all of your options, I for one understand your pain. Having now gone through the ups and downs of this legal process, my first recommendation would be to shell out the cash and hire a private attorney rather than go with a public defender. I was humiliated, scared, and didn't know what to do. Fortunately, my case was assigned to Karthik Krishnan and he took care of me from start to finish. I had received a letter informing me a complaint had been filed at the Los Angeles city attorney's office. This was almost a year after the incident took place, and all evidence of my innocence had been lost. I was somewhat panicked, and did not have the necessary money in the bank to just run out and hire anyone. The first place I looked to was family and friends. I had a friend suggest an attorney who gave me some consultation and said he'd call me. Three days before the arraignment he decided to go on vacation to Palm Springs and leave me high and dry with no idea what to do. The day I was flying out of LA to move, I was pulled over and arrested, and charged with DUI. I was not under the influence of anything - my breathalyzer was "0". The evidence was police observations of my driving, and the report of a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) who failed me on part of the Field Sobriety Test. I contacted Shouse Law Group from web research because they provided the best information about DUI Drugs. Mark Russ was exceptionally helpful and spent a lot of time walking me through the case and options. Karthik was assigned to me because of his connectedness in the SF Valley courts. I DO take medications, which I had unintentionally packed and shipped two days prior. I did some research on this, and it turns out I was experiencing a medical condition that produced some of the same symptoms. When the UA came back, the results completely refuted the DRE's report; but one of the meds caused a false positive for another substance. I was able to get my doctor to write a letter confirming all of the above - which SHOULD have been enough to get the charges reduced (at the least). The prosecutor felt otherwise, based ONLY on the observations of my driving. Karthik kept pushing back with the objective evidence, even going to the prosecutor's supervisor, who agreed with him. While I'd originally been prepared to accept a lesser criminal plea, Karthik got the charge reduced to a simple speeding ticket - with no fine, because I'd spent a day in jail. This case is an atypical DUI Drugs case - but my guess is that many people like me are convicted because they don't go this far. What I like about him is that he is a person who does not manipulate your feelings just because he wants to take the case for money, but that he informs you of the reality of the situation and helps you find a solution. Communicating with him is easy, he always answers my calls at any time, and he even provided legal advice regarding another case in which I needed the opinion of an expert lawyer. He is a great person. I recommend anyone who has a legal problem to appoint him because he is a wonderful person by all accounts. My case was rejected and this is what he told me from the beginning, he made me feel comfortable in dealing with him, as in all the sessions I did not even have to go to court and even to his office. He really saved my life, he knows until the right time to speak to the judge to ensure the case is won. My case was a lost case, and there is no hope for 1% of it to be dismissed, but it was dismissed because of his intelligence and experience. Just leaving this review to show my appreciation for my defense attorney, Karthik Krishnan. He came recommended from a friend and I couldn't be happier with the results. Going through the whole DUI process, he was very professional and communicated to me extremely quickly. Even at times outside of normal business hours he would at the minimum reply back with an email or text message. The process is very stressful and he was able to simplify everything for me to understand and communicated strategy to me before he/we would appear infront of a judge. My expectations where exceeded with his service. On one occasion an emergency occur for him but he communicated with me well before my court appearance. He had his associate, Leoanard Manalo, fill in for him. I was uneasy with this at first but Karthik assured me I was in good hands which I found out once contacting Leo.
