It's located right off of I-55 and Butler Hill, and has lots of parking. Nobody WANTS to be here in all honesty, but if you have to host a funeral/wake, this is a decent option.

We called Newcomer and we were able to get an appointment with funeral director, Abigail, the next day. The meeting was straightforward and thankfully free of a hard sales pitch. We explained to Abigail what we wanted and she helpfully directed us. Our son's visitation and funeral service were exactly what we wanted. The funeral home staff were very kind and attentive. They frequently approached our immediate family and asked if there was anything they could do to help and repeatedly offered us water. Their kindness and care touched all of us.

The Funeral Director, Jerica Pernell, of Newcomer Funeral Services turned over information to the St Charles County Medical Examiner office about my wife's condition before burial even though the Funeral Director told me a week earlier that the Death Certificate would be signed by her doctors.  A week later the Funeral Director told me that the Death Certificate would be signed by the St Charles County Medical Examiner which struck me as very strange. Why would she lie to me?  I ask how long it would take and was told that it would take 10 to 12 weeks. Evidently the funeral service saw that my wife had fallen and had a broken hip 4 to 5 months before her death.  The Funeral Director thinks that something might be amiss about my wife's death so she turned over the case to the St Charles County Medical Examiner Office AND NEVER TOLD ME. You cannot trust this business. Be very careful.

I dealt with Mrs. (Cindy) and Mr. (Tom) Buchholz themselves. I personally would never recommend them or this funeral home. As a family we sat in Cindy's office to go over her wishes. Instead of telling us what was included or preplanned she started off with - what do you want. We then moved on to the casket because the 18 gauge my grandmother select was no longer around. As a family we decided on one they had there to look at. (16 gauge - smaller) We left with a $385 bill. Memorial cards and things not included. Later that afternoon Cindy called to advise the casket the family had chosen was no longer avaialable the way we wanted it, as it sat. It was a closed casket so it didn't make too much sense that all the designs had been moved inside. After a very quick phone conference, I chose a new model (now chose 3). Ms. Cindy sent over a statement via email which had more than tripled. The family and I went over the statement and said fine - we just wanted to grieve. A few hours after I emailed back with agreement. A second bill came over at $1200. Now concerned that it jumped from $385 to 1K now $1200 we felt like we were being taken advantage of. I responded via email that the family would need to discuss this further. I called the next day and asked Tom (Cindy was out) for an itemized bill so we could see what it was that wasn't covered. He refused even telling me multiple time to take my business elsewhere. Also, mentioned the vault my grandma purchased was of poor quality and would leak onto her lifeless body. At this point we are trying to grieve and just wanted the nightmare to be over. If the poor attitude and customer service from both Buchholz employees/family wasn't enough. The day of her service the stand she rested on was not painted on the corners. Our overall experience was painful and uncalled for. I hope no family, especially a grieving family has to deal with this funeral home. More things happened that have not been mentioned. Luckily that was only her viewing place and she was laid to rest at Mount Hope in South County.

However, my mother helped coordinate a lot of the food for the refreshments after the visitation which warrants this review. This Funeral home is located right by Lambert International. It's in a run down part of town. The building itself isn't that big, the size of a small church. It is located off a busy street (Natural Bridge). The interior is pretty basic but elegant. There is a small sized chapel, where services can be conducted. It has a homey feel and is ideal for direct family, close friends etc. there is a visitation area where the casket lays and plenty of room to move across the room and talk to loved ones. There is also an atrium with tables for refreshments and what not. The rules were a little strict on coolers and people had to go to the small nook area and grab a water from the fridge which was a little inconvenient. The service from the employees came off as very professional. You can tell they care about what they do and what the families want. They were very gracious and flexible with everything. Overall this is a good small and inexpensive place to have a funeral at. It's always sad talking about these things, but I do recommend it. Thanks for reading...

(It was done out of spite) I kindly requested they correct this error, but refused since they said it had to be changed by the person who wrote it. But they posted this incorrect information on THEIR website, something that they have complete control of. Disrespectful.
