If you want the short version: unless everything goes perfectly, you're risking your hard-earned money. Keep this in mind, I spent over $5,000 for a countertop and was provided something incorrect, and was mocked for thinking someone should apologize. If your installation is straightforward, you might be fine. But if anything--anything--goes wrong, be prepared. CCKB takes zero personal responsibility and will deflect blame onto anything or anyone else. Some background. ~15 years ago, I worked in the kitchen and bath industry. I'd heard some rumors about CCKB back then but never had much direct experience with their work. Fast forward--I was referred to them by a remodeling company. I hesitated, but decided to give them a shot based on the referral. Also worth noting: I've been involved in over four dozen kitchen installations and personally built eight wood countertops. I know how to template, how to handle out-of-plumb walls, and how overhangs work. I'm not a random customer. We had a single slab of honed quartzite, very specific design specs, and a setup that was 100% ready--walls, cabinets, and layout. During templating for the makeup vanity, it was even noted that I requested an extended overhang on the left side (near a doorway). The right side was bordered by a tall pantry-style cabinet, and the back edge met a wall that was out of plumb (which we all knew going in). What showed up? A completely botched countertop. The right side was cut at a ~15-degree diagonal--shorter in the back than the front--leaving a 7/8" gap where the counter should have been flush with the pantry cabinet. Think of a rectangle with three straight sides, and the fourth side hacked at an angle. To be fair, the installer did the best he could but neither him, nor the installation manager offered any recommendation on how to fix it. They originally offered to cut the finished left end, but neither my contract nor I could see how that would fix anything. The suggestion to fix this, came from me. After measuring the angle, there was only one way to fix the gap "Scribe it to the cabinet" just the way the template should have been done to begin with. So, he cut off the angled portion (with an impressively steady hand), but we lost the overhang we had designed. I told the install team I wasn't happy, and then, silence. No call from CCKB--just an invoice. When I finally called, I spoke with someone who I believe is a co-owner. She kept insisting the issue was due to the back wall being out of plumb--totally missing the fact that the actual error was on the side, not the back. The template and CAD drawings showed the measurements she said and the mistake was "the wall being out of plumb"; however, after speaking to everyone NOT associated with CCKB, the mistake was clearly the cut. I tried to explain calmly that this wasn't about the wall--it was a simple length measurement along the side. She repeated herself again, ignoring the facts. I finally told her, "I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say." That's when she laughed at me. Loudly. Mockingly. She then snapped, "Okay, what do you want?" I said calmly, "I don't think I should be charged full price." Her response? "Fine. I'll give you $200 off." I told her I appreciated the gesture, but what I really wanted was an apology and some accountability. Instead, she laughed again and said: "What do you want me to tell you? That you're right? Ok, You're right! *mockingly* I'm sorry, you win! Does that make you feel better?!" I was stunned. Her tone was completely unprofessional and condescending. I told her I just wanted acknowledgment of the issue, and an apology would have been nice. Let's be clear: the only reason this install was even usable was because I guided the installers on how to fix it. The installers had no plan. Bottom line, every company makes mistakes and I believe that's human. But how a company responds to those mistakes defines its integrity. CCKB failed that test completely.

I hired K Alexander Kitchen and Bath Designers to renovate my kitchen. I had formica Laminates but wanted to update my counters to Quartz. I'd interviewed other companies but thought with a design firm, it would be less stress, a one-stop shop, and they would do the heavy work for me. I've not had the best success with renovations. Being a single female, it is common knowledge that we are usually victims of predators, and for those experiences, I don't go half-cocked but try to be as informed as possible. Even doing due diligence, I still found myself in a 4 month nightmare. They subcontracted with Natural Gallery Stone Kitchen and Bath, and it was an absolute nightmare. I expressed strongly to them that I was having Ankle replacement surgery September 3 and wanted to have it done prior. We discussed this in the latter part of April and began in May. I have been without a working kitchen since then. It wasn't money because I paid upfront and in full. Natural Gallery took their sweet time. The fabrication was terrible, the hole for the faucet wasn't centered and the stone's sheen was inconsistent. It was a high gloss stone but the fabrication caused matte, rough and inconsistent textures. Not to belabor the problem but I was so stressed that I became ill. I thought that I would still be without counters, a sink or a finished product that it flared my Lupus. I was washing my dishes in the bathroom. I literally prayed and was directed to The Countertop Factory. I'd just left a company on Glenwood Ave that I was unavailable, detached, and wouldn't return calls. I sat in a gas station parking lot crying. I Googled Countertop installers, and right down the street is The Countertop Factory! I spoke to a lovely person named Haven. Haven was empathetic and kind. I met with her the very day. I was shown stone and different edges. I also met Nick and Erick. We came up with a game plan. Within 2 weeks of my initial meeting, I have a beautiful kitchen that I'd still be waiting for with the other company. Chris and Michael came today and meticulously installed the cabinets. Every effort to detail was met. Wes is a supervisor. He is direct but considerate. I was so nervous about the job but he promised to take care of me and he did just that. It I'd hard to find companies that care. Workmanship, craftsmanship, and pride are a thing of the past in most cases, but I was blessed to have found a company that puts their customers first, and their reputation for excellence is well earned. The cost is worth every penny because you get what you pay for. If it seems like I am gushing, it is because I am. I highly recommend them! I appreciate everything that this company and the staff has done for me.

My kitchen sink fell after only being in this new house less than 3 years. Pulte would not cover any repairs and told me to contact the Countertop Factory who installed my countertop and sink. Of course, I was leery of using them to fix the problem. I have owned 3 newly built houses in my lifetime and have never seen a sink fall. I hired a different company to reinstall the sink. I contacted Eric at Countertop and sent him pictures and told him I was having a different company reinstall the sink. Eric contacted the owner and Countertop agreed to pay all my expenses in reinstalling the sink and reconnecting the plumbing. All I can say is the company did the right thing for me. Give them a chance.

We just had a small vanity counter installed this morning and can't be happier! This is the third…read moreproject we've done with Absolute Stone in the past year and had a good experience overall. What makes this moat recent project so special is how well the veining ended up being spread across the counter. You can see in the attached photo that we have a small half-bath vanity. We risked by selecting Michelangelo quartz because of its dramatic veining, which could look strange on such a small surface. We could potentially end up with a completely white counter and a small splash of that dark veining on one side. But whoever cut this stone for us did an outstanding job at choosing the perfect piece of stone for the veining to be spread well. We're so happy! As I mentioned, this isn't our first project with Absolute. Earlier this year we ordered another quartz vanity counter for the guest bath and a bench top for the master shower. Both of the previous projects went well. It was convenient that Absolute had a good size showroom in Cary, their staff was responsive throughout all projects and we had zero issues with the installation. Selection of stone is sufficient (not too large but enough to find something you like). All in all we are happy with our experience and totally overjoyed with how the most recent vanity turned out.

Let me start this review with a quick background on my project. I contacted 4 contractors to…read moreprepare the land, pour the concrete pad and construct my 30X50 ft. metal building. Two of the contractors were unable to complete all parts of the project. The other two were $20-30K over my budget and would not commit on a start date much less an estimated finish date. One of the larger contractors increased the price 3 times before starting work! I had just about given up on finding an honest contractor that could do the work on my timeline and budget. I was given contact information for Carolina Customized Interiors (CCI) from a trusted acquaintance. After meeting with the Owner, Jeremy Payne and Project Manager, Sam Bernier I decided to sign with them, they agreed to my budget and included all the work required to finish the project in a professional manner. I signed the contract on Friday, the following Monday, Jeremy was on site with the machine to start preparation for the foundation. This was a new concept from my dealings with the four other contractions; they all seemed to over promise, over charge and under deliver. For the duration of the project CCI kept in close contact with me, any concerns or questions were addressed in short order. I was given daily updates and advised on the upcoming events. The CCI employees were always willing to go the extra mile to provide quality work. One example of the extent CCI employees worked an issue; the concert supplier had a factory problem that delayed the last 2 trucks of concrete. The CCI concrete team worked until 4:45 the following morning to insure the contract was finished to the highest standard. The high quality finish was commented on by my site building engineer as some of the finest work he had seen. I'd like to begin my review of Carolina Customized Interiors by saying that we still owe $1000 of…read morethe final payment that is due upon completion of the work. Unfortunately, Jeremy asked and we agreed to pay most of the final payment prior to all the work being finished because we trusted him. That mistake is on us. Our home addition included an almost 800 sq ft, two story addition in which we hired CCI to complete. The project was scheduled to be completed on 2/26. I'm writing this review on May 14, and we still have work that is incomplete. We hired Jeremy because in our initial interview we felt that he stood behind his company both in standards of integrity and quality of work. The beginning of our project went pretty smoothly after we were finally issued a permit to begin building. There were some initial hiccups that we were not prepared for (such as increased cost of lumber and extra steel beams for support) but we felt that Jeremy was up front and honest about those issues. Several months into the project the siding company made a delivery, which Jeremy was not present for, and ended up driving a piece of machinery over the water line in our front yard. The water line was cracked and with Jeremy's help the company reimbursed us for the cost of damages. The end of our project is when things really started to decline. Work that we could see being done on the inside was not up to quality standards and was starting to get rushed for what we later realized was an effort to move onto his next job. After Jeremy deemed this project 'complete' his crew spent 3.5 weeks touching up and fixing work that was not satisfactory. Even after that, there were still areas that did not receive attention. There was just too much to do and too much that was not done right in the first place. The following sums up just a few examples: -Wainscoting in our sunroom had many imperfections such as nail holes not filled, compound not sanded off before painting, and nicks and scratches in the wood. After reviewing this with Jeremy his response was, "Yeah, it's not my shiniest work." One member of the team spent 5 days touching this work up to make it look better. This was after Jeremy initially said the room was complete, they cleaned it and asked us to do a final walkthrough. Today it's still not perfect, just better than it was. -Outside trim on new addition has unsanded compound on every nail hole the entire way up to the roof. Painter painted this though it was not ready. -Brand new inside trim on some doors and windows not in the greatest shape. Nicks and scratches with some nail holes not filled in. -Paint on the walls looks blotchy in some areas due to the type of paint used and so many touch up areas. -Crown molding in our sunroom has a wavy appearance in at least two areas. -Two of the three sunroom doors are hard to turn the handles and deadbolts due to how they were installed. -Riprap was installed to help with a drainage issue that we have. My husband sent Jeremy a picture of what we wanted this to look like and they discussed hand placing some of the rocks so that it was formed into a ditch. Rocks were laid in a flat pattern and now it acts more as a barrier. We discussed this with Jeremy and added it to the list of things that needed attention. Jeremy's response, "It's done and we aren't touching it." -LVP flooring is lifting up in the sunroom which per his contract would be under warranty. He refuses to address it. -Our dryer has dents on the top from Jeremy jumping on it to take pictures of a cabinet. Never told us he did this, we had to dig around for information to find out how it happened. -Our new bathroom vanity is scratched on the top in several places due to tools being put on top of it while working. They tried to buff it out but it's still scratched. As mentioned, these are just some of the items. We split our punch list into two sections and sent them to him. One side were the items we'd given up on stating he didn't have to fix and the other side was necessary to fix before the rest of our final payment. Jeremy has called it quits on the project and no one from CCI has been here in over 3 weeks. He does not respond to our texts or emails. We asked several times to find a way to work out a solution to some of the issues we still had. We offered to talk via zoom, in person or over the phone. He would not respond. I'm including pictures of the work that CCI completed at our house and I feel they are a more accurate assessment of the quality mentioned above.

We had a lot of kitchen space but the 1993 design didn't take advantage of it. We have tons more space, gorgeous cabinets, tile, granite and the design is breathtaking! No one can believe it is the same kitchen. We interviewed several designers but liked this design the best along with the reasonable estimate. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the office staff coordinating the project. We were shown one piece of stone for our countertop which we rejected and removed the countertop from their scope of work. They ordered a clear annealed glass window when the materials list and building code required a frosted tempered glass window in this location. It took nearly 6 months for the proper window to be installed.
