Overpriced bowling just for the lanes to have absolutely no oil on them and the arcade is super overpriced, the movie theater smelt weird, popcorn was very overpriced and very small screen on the theater, finally the people who work there are not good with costumer service at all. extra on the bowling side of things: if you hook your ball in here there is absolutely 0% chance your getting a strike as soon as the ball touches the lanes it hooks to the left gutter, the ball return is very dusty your balls will be very dirty once you're done bowling, finally 10 dollars for 2 games and a horrible service is not worth it. If you wanna bowl, go anywhere but here. read more

I haven't been in this theater since before Covid, and it has changed a lot. I found the theater to be clean (including the bathrooms) and comfortable, and the staff helpful. Even though there were a lot of kids in the gameroom, we could not hear them in Royal Suite #9. I felt like I was in my recliner at home. What a great experience! While entertaining family visiting from out of town, someone mentioned bowling. Because of where they were staying, it afforded me the opportunity to try out the newest bowling lanes in the tri-state, the Newburgh Family Entertainment Center. The FEC is connected to the existing Showplace Cinema. The new bowling lanes are a small piece of a greater family-centered entertainment mecca including a mega arcade and an American-themed restaurant and bar. The 12 bowling lanes actually have a nice seating arrangement for people bowling through the rotation with space for people to eat at a mini bar with a perfect view of the competition. The computer system is actually really innovative and user friendly, something ordinarily not found at a bowling alley. Those two areas are the only two things I enjoyed with this bowling experience. The atmosphere matched the arcade in the neighboring room; flashing multi-colored lights, huge cinema sized screens each displaying a different sports station, a slew of televisions with different stations televised, and the cornucopia of sounds make for a fun area for kids but an ADD Hell for a person seriously trying to bowl, or think. If you could make it through all of that hecticness, the lanes themselves are meant for novice bowlers, bowling strictly for fun. If you care about your score, this isn't the place for you. I was cranking the ball with the highest rev rate I could muster and the ball would not break - not one iota. The lane from front to end was swimming in oil. Once I realized trying to bowl seriously was never going to happen, I re-focused on trying to gain the highest ball speed possible. I was able to achieve 22 mph, according to the display screen. Other than the kids having a blast, that was the only redeemable adult highlight the place had to offer. Anyone looking to overly-stimulate their children for a few hyperactive hours, this is the place; however, the greatest caveat to consider is cost. This place is e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e. We were there for two hours and spent $22 for two kids to bowl for 60 minutes and another $50 for an hour in the arcade. It is unlikely I will ever return, but if I end up there through a kid's birthday party of something, it is comforting to know they also sell alcohol. read more

Showplace Newburgh has seen some changes over the years--and I think you could say for the better overall. I hadn't been here in a number of years, but grew up coming here since it was the closest movie theater to home. The new renovation is a great addition for families with older kids, but as a newcomer the layout is a little confusing -- we didn't tour the new FEC that was added on, just wanted to go see a movie. You buy your movie tickets in the main lobby and only give it to the ticket taker when you go into the cinema area -- the concession stand is now outside that area entirely, and although there's another stand beyond the rope I can't help but wonder if this allows for in-and-out privileges if you want a refill or another snack since that stand was closed on our visit. I would hope so, but it wasn't really clear how the "new" way works for someone used to the old layout. (Maybe that's just me.) The theater itself could use a little updating though honestly, the seats are a little uncomfortable and the armrests aren't moveable so if you're gifted in the hips they're kind of a tight squeeze. As for those complaining about the price -- welcome to the movie business, friends. It's not like Showplace is robbing you any more than AMC or Regal or any other theater chain. If you want cheap, second run movies then go to Showplace South -- but if you're looking for first run, you're going to pay for it. read more

Went to 4:30 movie. It happened to be in the deluxe theater. Theater was good. No reason for ALL sounds being that overly loud. And to get to this theater you have to go through the arcade space. Once you're there there is a small private lobby area but no bathrooms other that the ones by the front. Very poor planning. Haven't been here since the remodel. Not sure I need to go back. I'll wait for the movie to come out on online services. read more

This is a great, clean place to enjoy an afternoon or evening with your family. Movies, dinner, arcade games, bowling and laser tag. We do not go there often, with the exception of the matinees and Tuesday specials, but when we do we have zero complaints. read more

Is it expensive? Youbetcha! And since they opened they have been on a steady price increasing path. One time they lowered the price of domestic beers to 3 dollars tax worked in. I started going there and having a few beers a couple days a week, incidentally I would wind up dropping about 20 bucks in the arcade but within a month the prices were back up to some odd jumbled loose pennies and nickles in your pocket number. Now I go about one Wednesday a month (Wednesdays they cut the price on all the arcade games by half). I went bowling with a friend a couple months ago. STICKER SHOCK! What's worse, they have raised the prices for bowling again since then. Also what the other poster wrote about the lanes is mostly true, but since they are new they are still trying to get their lane oil patterns down. I recommend them trying setting the oil machine pattern to Bear as it was good for fresh lanes and the path of the balls would drag excess oil down the lane and they looked really puzzled as to what I was referring to. The Lazer tag is actually pretty decent. Better than the only other arena I'm familiar with in the evansville area. Plus it is only 8 dollars per session. I have no experience with the food, but imagine it is no different than the royal suite food from the North location (Meh). Speaking of royal suites, when are they actually going to open theirs...they have got to be loosing money on that restaurant because no one is ever there. The suite is what will drive the food (and alcohol) sales. Because this theater chain is family owned I don't believe they receive all the cool promotional posters and cutouts as the big national chains (AMC). They do have free refills on drinks and popcorn (any size!) and their concession prices are on par with any typical theater. Overall, I actually enjoy this place and hope they will experience enough foot traffic and lookey-looers this summer to convince them to be a little more competitive on their bowling prices. Other than that, I will continue frequenting this establishment for movie entertainment and family fun at least a few times a year. read more

I have been here a few times. For some reason I always end up in Cinema 3 where it is very humid, and there is a musty odor as if there had been a flood in there that had never been properly cleaned up. The staff seems to know about it and yet nothing is done about it. I can't speak to the rest of the building but if you go here, ask where your movie is playing and if it is playing in cinema 3, do yourself a favor and drive 5 minutes to Evansville and see your movie there. That movie theater there is owned by the same people, but is in much better shape. This may be the reason that the Newburgh theater is in such bad shape, they are still getting your money one way or the other. read more

Overall an ok experience. I felt like it was a bit expensive. It is only $2 per ticket at the south location on Tuesdays. Add in the popcorn and Soda and I was right under $30 for a parent and child to go see a movie at 1pm. Would I go there again. Probably not. It was nice being in a nearly empty theatre though. A group of 4 showed up 30 min late and then proceeded to start talking about their day right behind us. It's a shame people don't have any class anymore. Went here while visiting in laws. They all wanted to see Black Panther so we went after a nice dinner. I kept looking to see if they had any of the posters to take a pic with prior to the show and saw nothing. After the show, I still didn't see any. It was quite disappointing that I could do that. I am sure that wouldn't have been the same in a big city. So it took away from my movie experience. read more

I give them a five because it's the best cinema in the area. There are a lot of complainers listed and I would suggest making your own opinion. People that complain about the cost of this theater have never seen the prices in a big city and should just stay home. I would not recommend coming here. They are very unprofessional and rude. They send workers into the movies to watch you the entire movie. They yelled at my family for laughing during the previews. The workers they send in there are much too young to be handling this job and they seem to target kids around their age. They kicked out a group of kids for absolutely no reason. If you want to see a movie I would definitely go to Evansville and not here. read more

Went in to have a couple of drinks and watch the playoff game. They could not understand how to search for a game on their TV system. Unfortunately, we turned them down for dinner and went somewhere else that knew how to put on a major league baseball playoff baseball game. They have plenty of TVs, place looks nice. Unfortunately, they let us walk away without putting the game on! Not on my list of options. Went just down the road to Enigma, the bartender searched and found the game! What a concept! read more
