I understand the economy right now, but $16 for a large popcorn and 1 drink is ridiculous, but it's all part of the movie experience. We took our grandkids tonight. Very disappointed. It's been a couple years since we have been to a theater but it's gorren so expensive. We went to matinee so tickets were reasonable. We had to pay for snacks at the ticket office when we got our tickets or go back to ticket office during movie if you wanted to get them later. The icee machine was down, kids snacks didn't offer any choices of what candy was in the tray, So we got them popcorn and drinks which totaled over $70 fir 6 people. I know the kids working had no control over any of this but very disappointed. We will go again but try a different company. read more

I ordered tickets online earlier but realized it was for the wrong day and needed a refund, the receipt said I could get one as long as it was before the movie (5:20) I have called 7 times ( first call was around 2:30) only to get a phone that rings until what sounds like someone answers and then hangs up. I have been here several times and always have a good experience. I have always been in a theater where you choose your seats. I usually buy my seat ahead of time so I know what I'm getting myself into. The seats are very comfy and big enough so you have an arm rest regardless of anyone sitting by you. Every seat in the theater is a good seat because no one is blocking your view. The dinner and a show theater is a bit more expensive, but it is worth it if you want to have a beer, cocktail, or wine with your movie. read more

Best theater to catch todays hottest movies. Clean theaters and restrooms. I graciously award a star for their very large concession stand with FREE REFILLS! Super kid friendly with a video arcade inside. This theater features superb sound and offers 3D films. Another star awarded for its dedicated IMAX auditorium. There is always a large assortment of hollywood latest releases to see. This place is a can't miss! Everything is done just right. A visit to this theater is a great entertainment experience. The only negative thing I have to mention is the parking. Crowds pack the theater on weekends to near capacity so arrive early. Allow extra time for parking, snack buying, and seating. I can not stress enough about arriving early on weekend. I have one suggestion how about a weekend late show? Keep up the good work Showplace! read more

Theater aspect was great as far as comfort of seats and watching the movie. However before and after the movie was disappointing. Before the movie in Royal Suite for 9pm showing if Halloween on 10/26/18 sat at bar for 20 min or so. Had to listen to people working in kitchen bicker about things "well that's not my job"! Then after the movie I am waiting in line to use the bathroom in the bar section and notice a woman exit the bathroom stall not wearing any shoes and not stopping to wash her hands. I could not believe it when I watched her go behind the bar! This was an employee. No shoes, no hand washing ?????? YUCK!!!! read more

This is a review of the Royal Suite, the "dinner and a movie theater" within showplace Cinemas. First, I pre-ordered tickets to select the exact seating I wanted and to be sure all our seats were together. One of our party dropped out, but I had no problems getting a refund once we arrived. Tickets are obviously more expensive - $13 each, $12 per person plus $1 for purchasing each through the Internet. Once we arrived, a hostess showed us to our seat. She gave me a brief tutorial about how the process works; The combination of being ready to eat and me not being a very good listener made the whole spiel kinda like Charlie Brown's teacher - wahh wahh wahh; the only thing I took away from the whole thing was the button - the link between all my wants and needs and the mysterious Oz behind the curtain who comes when I becon. The woman departed heavily stressing the button and not to allow the children to touch it. "People lose their jobs over the button," she warned. Her facial expression when telling me the dangers of button-overuse, made me think of the 1961 Milgram Experiment at Yale. Note to self: don't touch the button! The menu ranged from appetizers (cheese fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, fried pickles, and hot pretzels with cheese) to salads to wraps and sandwiches (hotdog, various burgers, chicken, a tenderloin, and a Caesar wrap); I opted for the hot pretzels and Caesar wrap. The wrap was okay..I could have used some dipping sauce since the chicken was a little dry. The accompanying fries were really good. They also have pizza and desserts as well as a bevy of alcoholic options - wine, beer, and cocktails. For three of us, it was about $60, and that was without dessert and drinking only soda. When the server brought us our food, I requested refills; she never returned; maybe someone electrocuted her with their button. Not wanting to touch the button, I flagged down a host as he waited on the party next to us and he promptly brought us fresh drinks. Overall, the experience was good but pricey. It was a nice treat, but definitely not something one can afford to do very often. read more

I have always loved movies since I was very little. From the production and behind the scene work, to the finished product. Showplace Cinema East is by far my favorite Showplace that I have been to. Especially since that've upgraded the seats to recliners and added the Royal Suites. For going there for two or three hours to watch a movie, this is a great place to go. read more

First time here but not the first time I've been to a dinner, and movie, type of place. The one that I am used to going to is the movie Tavern which is in Lexington, Kentucky. Atmosphere was pleasant and one thing to definitely note is the comfort of the chairs. The only reason I gave this three stars was for the quality of the food. I ordered the half pound hamburger and I must say that I would have been happier with fast food; especially considering the price I paid for it. Everything else was great. read more

Bigger than a normal screen, but small by IMAX standards. My date was thoroughly disappointed. We assumed it would be the wrap around style screen we have seen elsewhere. Caught 3D Jurassic Park, which they shouldn't advertise as 3-D ~ they made the scenery, trees etc. 3-D and that's about it. Was surprised that the concession stand wasn't open, had to walk quite a ways to find one with staff. read more

Saw an IMAX movie here today - seems like a very nice theatre. Multiple screens, everything seems clean enough. Theatre definitely wasn't crowded for a Saturday afternoon. Not sure if that is normal or not. I assume it isn't because they have multiple concession stands, the majority of which were not open due to the lack of crowds. I do suggest that they fix their parking lot however. Looks like it hasn't been touched since the 1970's. Very very old looking. Might bring in a more vibrant crowd if they spruced up the exterior a bit and brought it into the 21st century. read more

I deduct one star for their changing the type of cookies they get in. Even though I miss the gigantic ones they once had, I still love this theater a great deal. Most weekends when I have nothing else going on, you'll find me here watching the lasted fluff from Hollywood. The theater, I do believe, is 100% digital. Everything is well-kept and I've never noticed any screen tears. The IMAX, while one of the smaller screens carrying that moniker, is also quite nice. The sound system in that theater is excellent. The Morgan Ave theater is a delight; I just wish they'd bring back the old cookies. read more

Came to see Mile 22 tonight! For some reason the computer would only ring up the tickets for the Tuesday discounted price. Rather than just immediately granting us the discounted price, the ticket clerk asked her manager what exactly to do. He explained they would change the price in the system so we could be charged correctly. After waiting a bit for the price change to show up in the computer, the theater manager showed us excellent customer service. Rather than having us wait for the price change to show up and potentially miss our movie, the manager granted my friend and I the discounted ticket price. That way, we had time to grab some snacks/drinks and get there on time! We love coming to Showplace Cinemas! read more

I try not to go to this chain and instead go to their competitor on Evansville 's west side . I went last night with a friend to see a show on IMAX . The bartender and the new bar manager would not accept my friend 's passport as a valid government ID. They acted like they had never seen a passport . A US passport is probably the most secure ID a private citizen can get in our country . Big thumbs down to Showplace and their staff . read more

I would visit this cinema location from time to time in high school. Not much has changed since then. It has been awhile since I been to this location seeing as how I moved away and all. It was fairly quiet on a Tuesday at 2:30pm. The other positive was that it was clean, not overtaken by rude teenagers, and no line at the concession stand. The major negative is that there was no non caffeine free diet Pepsi. I mean I am drinking diet pop for crying out loud can I have some caffeine at least! The other negative is that a matinee ticket is about $3 more at this location versus the north location which I would normally go to. However, I was already on the east side and since gas is a bazillion dollars a gallon I decided to just go with it. read more

Went to the royal suites for lunch and a movie. We ordered our food and drinks and 40 minutes afterwards we had to ask for our drinks because they hadn't given them to us. We got our food 5 minutes after that and 2 of our 4 meals were wrong. We sent them back and when it came back out mine was still wrong! I didn't send it back because I was too hungry at the point. I like the idea they have but don't waste your money on the royal suites. Just go to the regular theater. read more

The only thing I don't like about Showplace is the prices. Even though they recently lowered them, it costs upwards of $20 for one person to go to the movies including ticket prices and concession prices. BUT, the service is always pretty friendly, theaters are clean, and it's got a very lively, exciting atmosphere. They do great midnight premieres of very popular movies and always have the best promotional displays in the lobby. Massive amount of parking even though they're almost always full on Friday & Saturday nights. IMAX is good too, they have 2 concession stands which is nice, and I have never waited in line for the bathroom except during midnight premieres. Big & clean bathrooms. Arcade is always up & running when I go, etc. I've been going here since I was in middle school so obviously, I pay the higher prices for a reason. read more

We arrived too early for our movie. An employee was outside smoking, we approached her and asked what time they open. The employee was extremely rude and treated our family terribly. Movie starts at noon, we were there at 11:20am. If it wasn't for our teenage boys being so excited to see IT, I would have left the theater parking lot and never have them our business again. Comfortable seats and lots of people working concessions so very little wait time. I like being able to put my own butter on the popcorn. The white cheese salt is also good. Went to 4:40 showing of "Old Man with a Gun" Friday, Oct. 19. Our seats in row F were sticky and full of trash. In the cup holder were used tissues and a used condom. We tried moving to other seats as movie was about to start, but as seats are assigned, they were not available. I went out and asked for help and a young man, with our assistance, cleaned it up. Their prices are grossly inflated and burgers made me wish for McDonald's which is sad to say. Service was also slow. It took 40 minutes to get two burgers and a wrap. Seats were amazing though and we really enjoyed the assigned seating. Takes out the need to arrive early. We will go back but we will never arrive hungry again. read more

The past couple experiences have been worse than terrible. I came here with my girlfriend, and left without getting any food. I order chicken tenders, she ordered a burger. She gets her food, but the waitress tells me the pilot light is out on the fryer so I can't get any chicken tenders. 40 minutes into the movie mind you. So she leaves, comes back, only to tell me she just put my order in wrong and can give me what she put in. Needless to say, I wasn't interested until he bacon ranch chicken or whatever it was, so I asked for the manager. The manager is horribly unprofessional, and states that the ran out of breading for chicken tenders and can't make any. So I comment on how I've been given 3 excuses on why I haven't been given any food, and will NOT make me any food because now the kitchen is closed! He also looked at me stupid whenever I asked for the sandwich that she rang up, because I was starving. Apparently they had thrown it away or something because all I was able to get were fries. He then says the fryer is fixed. Someone in front of me offered me their food since I didn't get any, but the tall manager (I forgot his name) told his to be quiet or he's getting kicked out. They had an argument I front of everyone. I refused to pay for my girlfriends food but he still forced me to pay for my 6.00 teas. I spoke to the manager of the regular theatre who gave me two passes that say valid for ANY movie, with an underscore showing emphasis on the word ANY, which I was told today that I am not allowed to use for the movie I want to watch. I'm going tonight only because I'm being paid for, but I'll never be back and recommend anyone that reads this review to go elsewhere. I drive an hour to get there only to be treated this way. Projector broke in the middle of the movie, when they fixed it they rewinded it they went to far and I lost nearly half an hour of my life. I could have used those extra 30 mins of my life doing something important like saving kittens from trees or something. read more

We saw Captain America Civil War and it was the most uncomfortable 2 1/2 hours I've experienced. It was sweltering hot in the theater and the seats in the IMAX theater are so tiny, cramped, and without the slightest recline to them. I was seated next to a bigger guy, not fat but just big, and he couldn't even sit comfortably because of the lack of leg room. Take out some rows and make your theaters more comfortable. After paying 40 bucks for 2 people plus 20 for concessions I think you'll make your money just fine. The IMAX is also disappointing as I was expecting the side screen but perhaps I'm just used to the dome IMAX places at home. read more

Best in town. The food prices are cheaper than the AMC on the west side and so are the ticket prices. They are a local business and the family that owns them are great people. Minus one star because they no longer offer film only digital movies now, but that seems to be the trend. read more

After watching Captain America Civil War last night, I can safely say that this is the worst theater I have been to in a long time. First of all, the sound was far too low. So low that the surround speakers could barely be heard and the bass was almost non-existent. The picture quality also left much to be desired. The seats were also very uncomfortable. I will never go back to this theater again. My home theater is far better than that worthless "theater". You'd be wise to find somewhere else to go. read more
