The pandit arrived over 90 minutes late, and over 250 guests had to wait outside in the hot sun. The tardiness of the pandit was very disappointing as the schedule for the event was planned meticulously with the mandir. Pandit's tardiness not only inconvenienced the guests, created a lot of stress, and disrupted the wedding schedule. For anyone planning to use the services of Shri Ram Mandir with a schedule, I would advise future patrons of the mandir to plan for a backup to avoid the miserable experience we had to go thru.

Its very intimidating to explore other cultures because you know nothing about it. The fear that you will dress inappropriately, overstep boundaries, say the wrong thing or disrespect something very sacred keeps you from going. I have to admit, our anxiety was over the top but we sincerely wanted to learn, so we pushed through the anxiety and went to this event. The temple itself is a beautiful masterpiece no matter what part you visit. The energy is positive, healthy and peaceful. From the moment we walked up, they were welcoming and kind to us, and for that reason that made this an amazing experience!! Many different people throughout the evening was happy to tell us where to go, what was going on, how to participate, what was appropriate and respectful. We learned the meaning behind the Navratri celebration, as well as the deities in the shrine, the rituals, food, traditional dresses, and cultural dances. One volunteer stayed with us the whole time, beaming with pride, so excited to share her culture with us. We are very grateful for her time. The opportunity to be invited in and encouraged to return was humbling. We plan to go back and enjoy more events.

But when there is an Indian festival the entire Independence Pkwy and the temple surroundings becomes a pvery noisy and chaotic place. In fact you will see the Police in full force at such times. But overall the temple is most representative of the entire Indian diaspora that has settled around North Texas - Plano, Frisco and McKinney.
