Its very intimidating to explore other cultures because you know nothing about it. The fear that you will dress inappropriately, overstep boundaries, say the wrong thing or disrespect something very sacred keeps you from going. I have to admit, our anxiety was over the top but we sincerely wanted to learn, so we pushed through the anxiety and went to this event. The temple itself is a beautiful masterpiece no matter what part you visit. The energy is positive, healthy and peaceful. From the moment we walked up, they were welcoming and kind to us, and for that reason that made this an amazing experience!! Many different people throughout the evening was happy to tell us where to go, what was going on, how to participate, what was appropriate and respectful. We learned the meaning behind the Navratri celebration, as well as the deities in the shrine, the rituals, food, traditional dresses, and cultural dances. One volunteer stayed with us the whole time, beaming with pride, so excited to share her culture with us. We are very grateful for her time. The opportunity to be invited in and encouraged to return was humbling. We plan to go back and enjoy more events.

UNFORTUNATELY, they seem to lack consideration for surrounding businesses and the available parking for the patrons of the businesses. A business was threatened by multiple workers at this mosque because the business decided to charge for parking/block parking spots unless they were customers. Originally, multiple people from the mosque came and threatened to take away all of their business until the had to move. They came two different times the first day. After that, they seemed to come once every day continuing to make threats, but they attempted to change their tune. The business they were threatening does not sell anything that goes against their religion, they simply threatened the business because the business put its customer's first, rather than the mosque's visitors. Previously, the business did not bother with enforcing parking rules. Bad look for a religious community
