i gave them 5 stars in January when on the 17th they quickly came out and trimmed up a tree a neighbor complained had a dead spot. They trimmed out a small dead spot and cleaned up nicely. on April 3 the damaged limb broke and fell on to my roof and the electrical wires. I paid 900 for emergency removal of the broken limb. I am paying that company 20% less than I paid Shults to remove one limb to take down the rest of a 50 year old maple and remove the stump! DON'T BOTHER!!!!!!! the arborist is not worth paying more for. I wanted to save a dear old tree planted by my parents during my childhood, but not at the cost of the house. read more

I called this company to get an estimate on having a huge old oak tree removed from a backyard. The tree is over 100' tall and at least 30' in circumference. It is between a deck and garage and the yard is fenced and in a subdivision. The gentleman was out within two days of my call and quickly provided a very reasonable estimate. He was understanding of my need to get more estimates and gave me good information on what to ask others - like the amount of insurance, name of insurance companies, workman's comp. the decision on which company we will use is still pending. In January 2019, they removed a tree from my yard. Did quick work, no damage to the yard, and good clean up. Said they would take care of the stump the following week with a different set of equipment. It is now 5/30/19, and they owner has just kept putting it off. I call him, and he has one excuse after another. At this point, I have just asked for my money back so I don't have to pursue him through small claims court. read more

Shults Tree Service (located at 6701 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY 40214) is removing trees from my next door neighbor's back yard. They have been working since Thursday and I have not been able to use my driveway since then. Today it rained, so they all went home and left a truck parked in the alley and a trailer parked in my driveway. They did not have permission to use my driveway. I called Shults Tree Service this evening at 5 to ask if they had any plans to return and move the truck and the trailer. The man on the phone told me that they would be back on Monday and that it cost him too much gas to take the truck back to his office, so he intended to leave both the truck in the alley, and the trailer in my driveway until the job is finished on Monday. I let him know that I was not giving him permission to leave the trailer in my driveway, and he told me that if it was that important to me he would remove the trailer tomorrow morning (I would prefer if he removed it immediately, but he won't do it), but would not be moving the truck. When I called the company, I was treated very rudely. He seemed to feel that he was completely entitled to use my land for 5 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) without permission, 3 of the days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) during which no work would even be done. He told me "I think you're just trying to inconvenience me because you're the only one here who is bothered." I'm not trying to just inconvenience him, but I probably am the only one bothered, since I'm the only one whose driveway has been commandeered. The man on the phone had spoken with my husband in person on Thursday when the work began. The trailer was parked in my driveway at the time. They hadn't asked us permission first, but he figured it was okay since they were in the middle of a job. No one asked about whether we minded if they parked in our driveway. My husband assumed that they would be finished with their job that day and didn't ask them about moving the trailer. The company went home Thursday night and left their trailer in our driveway. Today (Friday), the company spent a little while working before the rain started. When they left to go home, they left everything again without ever attempting to ask us if it would be okay for them to leave all their equipment in our way for the next 3 days. Again, we wouldn't have minded them using our driveway while they worked, but rendering our off-street parking useless for many days while nothing is even being accomplished is uncalled for. I don't understand why the workmen didn't even knock on our door. We were home all day today. When I asked the man on the phone why this wasn't done, he said he was sorry, but that he thought I was just trying to inconvenience him by requesting that he make the trip all the way back out to where I live in order to remove the equipment he'd just be bringing back on Monday. Some apology. He also told me that I can just park on the street, and that it isn't that much further to my house from the street. That is true (though parking can be pretty competitive during the evenings), but it's not the point. The point is that I shouldn't have to park on the street when I do have off-street parking, and no work is being done which should prevent me from using my off-street parking. Maybe he should park on the street, if it's just as convenient, instead of illegally in the alley. The truck is parked in the alley. He set up cones, but there is not a lot of space to get around the truck. He seems to feel this is just fine because he says he got a pickup truck around it with no problem. The space really isn't very big though, and residents here should not have to put up with struggling to navigate our alley just because he doesn't want to spend the gas money to move his truck. What I'm most upset about is the way we were treated by this company. We're not trying to inconvenience them in any way, but I don't think they even considered our needs or feelings for a second. When I complained, the man on the phone tried to make me feel like the bad guy. I don't think he'd appreciate it much if I left a trailer in his yard and then refused to move it because I'm too busy and important and moving the trailer is too much work for me. read more
