Plenty of bathrooms and plenty of parking! They have a fenced in playground area for kids with swings and play structure. The Complex holds a turf field with concessions. There is also five baseball/softball fields, a multi-use field that is often set up as three soccer fields. Bleacher are onsite but you can also bring your own chair. Finally, the pickleball and tennis courts that are open to public daily from 7am - 10pm. They are well-lit and offer 6 tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts. Also, the Recreation Department is well organized for their youth sports. After dealing with City of Bloomingdale and Effingham County Recs, Pooler makes it feel like a walk in the park - pun intended!

The organization of both the training sessions and game schedules is something we truly appreciate, it's consistent, and easy to follow. The kids always look forward to their practices and games, and it's clear the program is set up to be both fun and developmental. Games usually run about 40-50 minutes and happen twice a week, which feels like the perfect balance. One funny challenge for us is when Olivia and Joel have games at the same time we end up splitting up and catching half of each game so we don't miss out on either of them. It keeps us busy, but it's totally worth it! it's a great place for kids to stay active, learn teamwork, and enjoy soccer in a supportive environment.

We decided to try this Y while in the area, and were pleasantly surprised. There are several…read moremachines and free weight options, which is always nice. There are also two open gyms, one for youth and another one for the general population- that was a cool thing to see. I also appreciated the lockers scattered throughout the gym, and the layout. This isn't our home Y, but I can see us frequenting this location when we want a change of pace. The staff wasn't as welcoming as the staff from our home Y, but they were still incredibly nice. I felt like I had more space to get in the zone, which was great!

Specifically, they have a 24 seven model which I don't think I have seen at any other YMCA that I have been a member of. It allows members to enter and exit the workout facilities with a digital code. This location also has steam rooms and sauna in the men's locker room, which is truly a blessing. Overall, this is a very sufficient club with a lot of variety in terms of workout machines and weights. They have an extensive aerobic room with plenty of exercise balls mats and stretch bands. They have an indoor basketball gym, but no indoor pool. And the price is definitely a value!

The RAC at GSU was built in the late 90s and was a much needed addition (prior, students had to go…read moreto Weight Extension on campus, which was majorly outdated). This was my home away from home away from home during my time here from 1997-2005. Recently came back for Family Fall Weekend, and got a free pass to check it out. I heard of the additions they've made since I graduated in 2005, but never got to see them until this past Saturday. The entry way and lobby is beautiful. The fake trees they have in there really spruces it up. There are two levels, with most of the treadmills/elliptical/row machines upstairs. Lower level has 5-6 basketball courts, 3-4 racquetball courts, huge lap pool, outdoor wading pool, large climbing wall, showering facilities, spin class room & free weight area. There is still an auxiliary gym on the old addition (it was locked), along with an upstairs track. I believe it's 9 laps for a mile on that track. The upper level track also joins in to the new side of the RAC. So, the nostalgia rushed back seeing the old RAC but I was conflicted. Half of the old RAC looked like it wasn't being used. The free weight area over there is now "Conditioning Rooms" that have since been glassed off, and the open/brightly lit atmosphere seems dark. All of those rooms were closed off & locked. The former entry way to the RAC is now a rock climbing wall. The weights and weight benches on the other side of the new addition looked so pathetic (my knee literally sank into the cushion on the bench while doing one-handed rows). The weighted bars did not have the weight labeled on them (I grabbed a bar that I thought was 50lbs for curls and it was clearly 70lbs). Some of the weight machines were not fit to be used. ALL of the equipment was old. I couldn't even find the weighted row pull. Even the weight plates looked massively beat up, with rubber coming off. As an Alumni, this is very disappointing to see such a nice facility with subpar machines. Even the cheapest gyms have better equipment. Students pay a decent fee to use these facilities, and where is that money funding? 20k students paying $80-$110 per Semester to use the RAC ... ~$2 Million coming in per Semester! Hell, where are the Alumni donations going towards?! Seriously, this is a disgrace. I really hope something is done about the conditions of the equipment at the RAC.
