I went to the SHY Salon And Spa to get a lash lift with Jason. It was my first lash lift and he set the stage so well for me. He set the appointment so calmly, asked me what music I wanted, enlightened me with engaging conversation the whole time. The best part was how considerate he was. Although I bought a lash lift, he did a Korean lash lift on me because of my stubborn lashes. I thought that was so considerate. As for the quality of the lash lift, he told me my lash lift would last about 2-4 weeks. IT HAS BEEN 5 WEEKS SINCE IVE HAD MY APPOINTMENT. And they're still strong. They aren't as great as when I first had them but they're most definitely still lifted so nicely. I have never written a review about any business, but I was so dissatisfied with SHY Salon that I have to now. I was looking for a salon that uses Devines products, and Sarry was great when I called. After he colored my hair, I said that I thought it was too dark. He told me to wash it a few times and call him if I was still unhappy. When I called him a few days later to say that I wanted to come back in, he offered me that afternoon, which I couldn't do but said that I would call back when I could look at my calendar (I was driving) I called and texted him several times after that and he totally ghosted me! On my last VM, I asked him to please give me the courtesy of a return call or text. He did neither! I owned a successful business for 25 years and would never have treated a client so rudely. She took such care in listening to my skin concerns and recommended some really great products to me. She was super knowledgeable overall. I've been a client for 9 ish years now. One of my favorite things about Sarry's salon is that he, as the owner, not only keeps himself well educated with the latest trends and products, but he's also not afraid to try new things More often than not, I leave thrilled with my cut and color. Because Sarry is a human, there have been a couple of times I haven't been completely thrilled with how my hair turned out. Because he is a complete professional, he graciously fixes what I wasn't happy about with a smile. If I'm being honest, I think sometimes I get a better service than I pay for. Dude is nice enough but definitely didn't do a full highlight, it was partial at best. He didn't cover my greys. He also didn't put the highlight mix right up to my scalp so now it already looks grown out, roots showing. I'll have to pay someone else to fix it and blend in the skunky chunks into the rest of my hair. *didn't ask for low maintenance, in fact other highlights I've gotten that have been subtle and taken longer to do grow out nicely and not starkly like this. I took this picture a week after, posted a review on Groupon shortly after the appt, but received no response. I get Sarry is trying to do as many haircuts & colors as he can as quickly as he can but for someone with super thick hair it takes longer to do a good job. After my 3rd appointment with Liz on 11/17/2023, Sarry the owner checked me out and scheduled an appointment for me with Liz for 6 weeks later. I asked him if she would be working on an evening so close to NYE and he said yes and scheduled me for 6:00 pm on 12/29. One hour after I left the salon he texted me and told me that day had actually been Liz's last day and neither of them told me. Instead he told me she would be working, scheduled the appointment and then texted me the news. Deceiving a client into scheduling an appointment is disrespectful. I came in with bleached, blonde hair with about 1/2 inches of my natural, dark brown hair growing in. (not even an inch) What I wanted was for it to be blended into my blonde hair so that the line wasn't so harsh. Oh, and a trim. No biggie right? So, I go over this with Sarry and he agrees to smudge my roots out. Maybe I should've been more firm but I'm not sure if me saying I want it only about an inch of smudge was not enough for him to understand that. I ended up with almost 4 inches of smudge! All the way to my eyes damn near! He said it would be up to my brows.. (a very general area) I had never, ever spent less time in a chair than I have with him. Granted I had a "simple" color process in Sarrys own words, but the way he was parting my hair and slapping the paint on my head made me feel so unappreciated. He then brushed the color out to my ears and spread the color much farther than I wanted it to be. At this point I am hesitant to say anything, and during my process, he schedules an appointment with another patron 45 minutes later, leaving him rushing with my appointment. After he washes my hair, it felt nice, but once he dried it it felt so dry again. I didn't like that every moment he got it was an infomercial for Kevin Murphy. While he actually cut my hair he was so fast. Maybe 10 minutes tops. The only part he was careful about was the undercut that was meticulously cut by my previous hairstylist. Even then, I still felt that it was rushed. In the end, he did what he wanted while taking what I said with a grain of salt. This was the most expensive haircut and color I had ever paid for yet I didn't feel like it. The way that I part my hair and style it I can do no further because the color is pulled down so far. Half of my hair length is dark. I came in with 1/2 INCH roots. I felt rushed. I didn't feel appreciated. Maybe it was because he had someone right after me, but even with that, he could've had them wait. Instead of spending so much time promoting Kevin Murphy why don't you listen to what your patron actually wants. I ended up coloring my hair somewhere else to fix the mess he did to my hair, and the stylist remarked that my hair was so choppy that it looked like I cut my own hair at home. I love the ease of their online scheduling system which confirmed my appointment via text and email after calling on the phone! Sarry, the stylist and owner, transformed my hair into a lovely dark ash brown. He also did a magical layered haircut that gave my hair flow and volume! Unfortunately, I have taken a while to write this review. I came to Sarry about 2 years ago in September or October for a cut and color through finding the new salon on Groupon. I usually LOVE my time with stylists I am very kind and chatty and I did enjoy most of my time there. I also am very easy to please with haircuts and color. I don't ask for much, but the one thing I do point out is that my hair is fine and my face is WIDE and I do not like to make my head look any bigger than it already is with a big face and curly hair. Sarry started cutting and cutting into layers. I said (as I always say) I just wanted light face framing if anything. His response? "I always say this.... the first time you come to me, you won't like your cut, the second time you will think it is ok, and by the third time you will love it and trust me" Well, I have never forgotten those words. Because my cut was so terrible I was traumatized. As I mentioned, my hair is fine and grows VERY slowly. For a year and a half I had to wear my hair in a bun or a half up half down because of the hack job that was done to my hair by Sarry. I have had multiple stylists confirm, it was VERY uneven and made no sense. I have told this story to multiple hair stylists who have slowly but surely been fixing his mess. All of them cannot believe what he said. You should always want the customer to feel great walking out. Sometimes what they want is unachievable and you leave disappointed. This was not the case. I feel bad leaving this review, but upon reading other reviews who have had similar experiences I feel like I have to. Also, please do not say I am not in your client list, I get your emails almost once a week and have PTSD every time. read more

He did a beautiful job on my hair. It was dark brown and he made it a beautiful merlot red color. Also, he didn't chop off my hair but just cleaned up the ends and gave me long layers. I can't believe it took me so long to write this review! I have been seeing Sarry for about a year and a half now after wandering in when it first opened. When I walked in I had lost maybe 50% of the hair on the back of my head from a terrible bleach which no one had been able to help with. To put this in perspective the hair on the back of my head was maybe 2 inches long and ruined and my wedding was a mere 1.5 years away. Sarry was able to not only style my hair so the damage was less noticeable but he was able to nurse my hair- which several stylists had told me to cut off- back to health. One of my friends got a pretty dramatic haircut here and it looked fantastic so when I saw them offering blowouts on Groupon, I had to check it out! Sarry gave me my go-to Old Hollywood style curls with his amazing curling iron (Seriously, I have a ton of hair and he had it all curly in less than 10 minutes). He also took some of the bulk from my desperately in need of a cut mop at no additional charge!
