Make sure to read the reviews about crappy piercings! Went here on Friday the 13th last month for my tragus and 2 lobe piercings. First of all, they were very busy and didn't have me sign anything or show ID. I should've taken that as my first red flag. Then, the piercer Frank, has no sense of customer service and just pierces you with no warning and also makes you feel dumb for asking any questions. OHH but he has been there for 30 years so he knows what he is doing. Based on all the bad reviews about him, yall need to reevaluate telling that to your customers. My complaint has to do with the quality of their jewelry. I understand for a Fri the 13th piercing that Im probably not going to get a stellar piece of jewelry. But I was not expecting my jewelry to basically just fall apart. The standard piece of jewelry has a front, bar, and backing. I was at work and the front of my tragus piercing legit just fell out. Of course, it was on the day they were closed for Easter and I couldn't go to the shop. I called today to see what they could do with it. I spoke to the woman piercer. She basically blamed me with any excuse in the book she could think of. Even though Ive being cleaning it properly. Then she explained to me that their piercings have a screw top and it probably just got unscrewed and fell out. The problem is now my piercing near the top started to close and I can't just screw it back on anymore. They didn't explain that to me when I got the piercing. They need to do a better job explaining that to customers and just a better job at what they're doing in general. Yesterday I went to Sick Dogs with a very specific problem and the service I received was amazing. My 93-year-old grandma had gotten an earring stuck in her ear and needed it cut off. She had been in great pain and discomfort for days. When we walked in, Albert immediately treated us very kindly and made my nervous grandma feel comfortable. Then Frankie, the piercing expert, came out and took great care of her. She was so nervous and in pain that she was shaking, but Frankie was very gentle with her ear. After a few tries, he was able to successfully cut off the earring and relieve her of her pain! My grandma was so happy she asked if she could hug them both. When she asked him how much she owed, Frankie said it was free of charge. Very excellent service and I would highly recommend this shop if you're looking for an expert piercer! read more

i've gotten 5 different piercings from here (helix, tragus, daith, rook, naval) and i've had problems with all of them unfortunately. after a year of having them all, they didn't heal correctly even though i stayed consistent with the aftercare. i went to a different piercing shop recently and was told they were all pierced incorrectly, and that's why they hadn't healed. the service is great and everyone there is chill, but i wouldn't recommend it for quality piercings. i had to get all but the naval piercing removed. read more

I was recommended this place by a close friend. Frankie was so informative and straight forward with me about realistic goals for the cheek dimple piercings I wanted, taking much into consideration and not just wanting to make a quick buck. The placement I wanted was not doable and to be honest he wasn't the first to tell me so, however the placement he suggested was perfect and I love them just the same! Very informative and helpful the whole way through. Now a month later, I got to switch out for shorter bars and today he helped me put on little jeweled ones also. He informed me that he could tell just by the naked eye that the top of the jewelry (I bought of Amazon, go-figure) may not be surgical steel, once again imparting his knowledge on how he can tell etc., very impressive! He then advised me just to keep a careful eye out for any sort of reactions that possibly may occur because of this. -WARNING: DETAILED for things to watch our for beginning piercers :) -- It's been a whole year and I've gone back to the male piercer a few times in the beginning because I got a nostril piercing bump like you'd see on Google Images. The 1st time I went back, he said it was the HIBICLENS solution that I didn't buy...even though I wash it daily with saline so ok. It went down! Buuuut the bump went back up. 2nd time, he said it was because I slept on it which sounded reasonable because the bump was above the piercing so I was probably adding pressure from the bottom and I like sleeping on my tummy. I adjusted my pillows and decided to sleep upright. Went down but whaddya knooow? Got inflamed again. I bought aspirin to crush, worked. I bought sea salt to make a solution, worked. Inflamed after every time. (More than half a year later) 3rd time, went back and I tried to give as much history on it as I can and asked questions about the metal itself. He said they're implant titanium, can't be the metal and that HE WORKED FOR 30 YEARS SO HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. WOW THE ATTITUDE. THE INVALIDATION. I keep track of it/seeing it every day. Let him win cus he's the pro. I bought a neck rest to prevent from turning left or right onto my face. After a few weeks, it worked. But it came up again. I've been sleeping upright for HOW LONG?! LOL the stiffness. Went to another piercer in Costa Mesa cus now I'm intimidated and he's obviously not providing solutions. She gave it look from the top of my mask and right away concluded that it's an irritation from my stud bc "it doesn't look like an implant titanium. There might be a nick or a ridge." I took it out and lo and behold, an unpolished stud (pic attached). Saw my huge, raw bump swelled down every day :0000. Has not been this flat since 7 months ago but now there's a red dot...prob from scarring (yall wanna see?). Maybe I got unlucky with this stud but I remember reading Yelp reviews from a dude who unenthusiastically pierces and I was picky with placement for my first. Yiiiiiiiikes. I'm really not the type to leave poor reviews but this place is real sketch & I didn't feel comfortable here. I called September 13 to make an appointment for the following day, my birthday, to get two 5-inch script tattoos. The gentleman on the line said they don't really make appointments and I should just come on in. I asked if I could email the design (font & wording) & have it resized as needed and the guy was like yeah of course, just come on in tomorrow. So September 14th I arrived with my mom- the place looks much more of a piecing parlor than a tattoo place. I'm assuming they have rooms in the back or something (for privacy?). I said hey, I called yesterday and one of the employees walked me outside to chat about what I was envisioning. So I told him I wanted one piece on my inner right forearm and one above my left knee and he grew ambivalent. He said he wasn't sure that the guy that was tattooing (sorry, I forgot his name) would have enough time to do "such big tattoos." I inquired about making an appointment for later in the week, kind of bummed because I wanted them on my birthday. The guy I was speaking to was pretty dazed. He was either a receptionist or a piercer (since he was referring to the other employee as the tattoo artist available) but he was just flat out smoking a joint while speaking to me and my mother. It was appaulingly unprofessional and kind of negligent. My mom was really uncomfortable. I don't have anything against the use of medical marijuana but a piercing parlor/tattoo shop is one of the dead last places I'd want an employee to be under the influence. Again I'm assuming he was a receptionist - I don't know why a piercer would be consuming a drug that impacts coordination, focus, muscle movements including involuntary muscular control like spasms and sudden twitches, and a host of other features you would expect a professional to be mindful of maintaining under control. I started to wonder if the tattoo artists were high too? If this guy was so blatantly open about smoking his joint to a customer who's with her mother, it probably is accepted at this business as a casual ordeal. I asked him if he was stoned and he said "just because I'm smoking weed doesn't mean I'm stoned." Okay but he said it very slowly, slurring his words, like we were at a surf shop. It was just so weird. I know what stoned looks like. The main ordeal was that he was happily under the influence and I'm not really sure why he thought that was acceptable. If that's regular for all employees here - a tattoo artist requires a steady hand & laser focus - no matter how competent u feel under the influence, scientifically u have impaired control over ur body when inebriated. Again, not claiming the tattoo artists are high, just assuming due to the nonchalant attitude of the employee I interacted with. He wrote down my name, my phone number, and the words I wanted imprinted upon me, and said the tattoo artist would call me. I never received a phone call, which was fine because I went to Baron's and was relieved to find employees that were sober. So confused. Awkward and uncomfortable customer service. Don't waste your money. I got a piercing there, has my nose done. I had to switch out my jewelry and when I did, he took it out and immediately my piercing closed up. This was a year after I got pierced. Fast forward 9 months. I went to a real piercing shop in San Jose. I wanted a ring in my nose. He took my stud out and guess what?! It closed again. The piercer couldn't believe anyone would use such a tiny stud to pierce. He had to re-pierce my nose AGAIN and less than a month later I had to remove it because of an emergency mri. The point here is that I dealt with two incompetent piercers, three if you count the woman who stretched my ears and couldn't figure out what gauge they were. And the jewelry.
