I'll forever be eternally grateful to her for the official diagnosis so I could finally begin the first steps of applying for disability. She's highly knowledeable, compassionate, and is genuinely interested in helping her patients find the best solution possible for their ailments. She is a relatively young Dr., but somehow she knows more than doctors who are twice her age!! She graduated from med school from the University Toronto, which I feel is a great advantage because American med schools don't seems to teach hardly anything about super-rare diseases (at least not about the one that I have, which affects roughly 1 out of about every 100,000). If you feel that you're suffering from a rare disease & are hoping for some answers, Dr. Koh is by far the best, most knowledgeable doctor to go see. I spent nearly 30 years of going to specialists, only to be left without a single answer. All the other doctors would never listen & would all always blow me off, so after about ten years of trying, I gave up all hope for over 20 years regarding seeking help from specialists until it became critical for me to start seeking to apply for disability. Dr. Koh is the only doctor who I've ever seen who actually genuinely cares about helping me with my disease & who actually listens to me & who treats me with compassion, dignity & respect!! I had an appointment with Dr. Abdelmasih and she prescribed some medication. No one returned my call. I called again later in the day and spoke with Tila who is not very knowledgeable and she took a second message for the doctor to return my call. On March 10th the doctor still didn't respond to my messages so I called again and spoke Crisida (name might be misspelled) I gave her the same message "I'm not feeling well and is my blood work normal". She left me on hold and then informed me the doctor was calling me on the other line but I never received a missed call. I waited about 20 minutes and call their office again and I spoke with a lady and didn't get her name but she's an older lady and I heard huffing and pudding attitude over the phone which is ridiculous but she informed me the doctor was supposively calling me again but Crisida failed to tell me that Dr. Abdelmasih was calling me from a blocked number which is fine but then I would need to adjust my phone settings. Third attempt the doctor finally called me and she seemed bothered because she was driving and her responses to my concerns were Uh huh okay. I'm a new patient with UTMB or wait I was a patient with this medical provider and I will medical treatment elsewhere. The staff members who answer your incoming calls need better training and Tila if she's a nurse then IDK why she couldn't answer any of my concerns regarding the medication.

He's knowledgeable and seems to care for his clients. But, his front staff (Phone and Appointment) are horribly trained in how to treat people. They are rude and dismissive. I'm sure they are not all rude, but all that I have worked with are. This is why I am now looking for a new Dr. One of my hopes of the review is that the Dr himself sees it. I had a horrible experience with this doctor and his facility, Medic Lane Physicians. I woke up…read moreone Saturday morning with an excruciatingly painful sore throat. Having recently registered as a patient at Medic Lane, I called the office and got a recording that said office hours on Saturday were 8AM-12Noon. Yet no one picked up at 8:05, 8:10, or even 8:20. I finally called the "after hours" number and got a live operator at an answering service, who said she'd page the doctor on call. Around 8:40 I got a call from Dr. Dewitt, who said he could see me at 10 AM. When I arrived, I asked the receptionist, Christine, why no one had answered the phone earlier. "We don't open till 9:00 on Saturdays," she said. I informed her that the office voicemail said 8 to Noon. "It's 9:00!" she replied. I said, "Well, you might want to change the recording then, because it says 8:00." "It's 9:00! Jesus Christ!" she shouted at me. That's a direct quote, believe it or not; I could hardly believe my ears! I'd been speaking to her calmly and in a normal tone of voice, and here she was, literally yelling and cursing at me for no reason! About that time the office manager came over to see what the commotion was about, and Christine said I was giving her a hard time. Then the manager started berating me for having "a bad attitude!" I can assure you, if I hadn't been in such terrible pain, I would have told them both off and walked out. But I really needed a doctor, so I stayed. When Dr. Dewitt saw me, I mentioned in passing that I'd had pharyngitis twice before and that antibiotics had cured it. Without performing any tests, he wrote a prescription for antibiotics and a mild pain killer and sent me on my way. My condition improved, but when I finished the course of antibiotics 10 days later, the sore throat came back with a vengeance. After 14 days it was as bad or worse than before. I did some online research and learned that the two primary causes of pharyngitis are bacterial (strep throat) and viral. If it's viral, antibiotics don't work. I returned to Medic Lane and saw another doctor, who, at my request, swabbed my throat and ran a test. It confirmed that my condition was indeed viral. That necessarily means that Dr. Dewitt committed medical malpractice on me that day! There's no way to sugarcoat it. He undeniably prescribed unneeded medication without confirming whether it was indicated, and his negligence prolonged the healing of my sore throat for two full weeks. It cleared up on its own after another 12 days, which it would've done originally if the antibiotics hadn't interfered with the natural healing process. In retrospect, I'm not sure which makes me angrier: Dr. Dewitt's carelessness or the rudeness and abuse I suffered at the hands of the Medic Lane staff. But it goes without saying, I never went back. My advice: avoid this place like the plague! Trust me, you can do better.
