Congratulations to sidecar on opening a third location. I am a local business supporter as best as I can be and number 2 I really enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. Unlike most of all commercial beans that you buy whole from grocery stores and are oily and black, side cars beans are roasted to a brown color and are non-oily. Customer service has been fine, and the space is kept clean. Like the repurposed use of the old wonder bread factory.

This coffee shop appears to be just getting established as it seems to be in a newer district of Waterloo (apparently the old wonder bread factory)!

Fantastic beer selection. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Single speed checks all the boxes!…read more I've stopped at Single Speed several times when passing through, and always enjoyed the experience. The flatbread is huge--at least two meals' worth--as are the salads. Beer's available in full pours, half pours, and flights, so it's easy to sample a few in one sitting. And don't miss the specials--especially inventive soups. There's plenty of seating options, too--a nice patio, bar stools, and a couple rooms full of tables and booths. Cheers!

There is ample space inside and out, and it's all very open and clean, though the inside dining areas are separated into large rooms, which I think would help with noise control when it's busy. We visited around 7:45 on a Friday evening in August and found it remarkably not crowded, but they have another location in Cedar Falls that probably draws a larger crowd. We were at the Waterloo location, which probably caters to a lot of business people and business travelers during the week. We ordered a lot of food for two people, and it was all excellent, but I rate this cool place four stars because all the food came out of the kitchen at once and we were totally overwhelmed. If it had been paced, I think we could have pulled it off, and as travelers, we couldn't really take leftovers with us to have another day. Our server was extremely helpful and patient helping me understand their beverage selections. I enjoy a good cocktail or a glass of good wine, but my beer tastes are even more limited, but SingleSpeed offered up the perfect solution: the SingleSpeed-a-rita. This is made with their Ring Around the Gose, tequila, agave, and lime juice. That hit the spot on a hot Friday night in Iowa!

100% recommended. If…read moreyou live in the Cedar Valley and haven't been to Panache yet, let this be a sign that this needs to change. The word "hidden gem" gets thrown around a lot, but Panache truly is a hidden gem; I mean that without any exaggeration. We went in for the Deluxe Afternoon Tea; they offer lower tier experiences too, but for a first visit we wanted the full thing. Full disclosure: I am not a tea person. However, the teas at Panache were so good, that I actually purchased a container before we left. There are over 30 flavors of tea, ranging from the most popular flavors to exotic flavors I have never even heard of. The best part? Their teas actually taste like the name of the flavor; not just some vaguely flavored water that many of us are so accustomed to. The food here is delicious, presented in such an elegant manner, and is far more filling than I expected. The service is the kind you don't have to think about; water refilled, teapots topped off, and being tended to before any of us even noticed that they were getting low. We never had to ask for a thing. The music was at exactly the right volume, the space was fancy, and we were relaxed the entire time. This is a family-owned business, and I say that literally; each person working here is related to one-another. Out of every restaurant I've been to in the area, including places that are portrayed as far fancier and more expensive, I genuinely believe that Panache puts more heart into what they do than anyone else, and you can not only see it, but you can also taste it. The only thing that made me sad, is that we were the only table there. A place this good should not have this problem. If you've never tried their individual pies either, do yourself a favor and order some. We've ordered them separately before and they're crafted to a level that is so hard to explain until you try one; perfect amount of filling, flavor, and flakiness. Pro: The service is unmatched. Treated like royalty the entire time, and it never felt performative; just genuine warmth and attentiveness. Combined with the food, the teas, and the atmosphere, this is one of the best all-around experiences I've had at any restaurant. Con: Truly nothing. This place is as perfect as it gets. Tip: You can reserve online through their website; quick and easy. If you have dietary restrictions such as gluten, you can reach out to them and they may be able to accommodate you.

Only created a sense of a girls' college dorm room, not a warm, friendly place to find while navigating downtown. There was not a high level of noise, which was refreshing, but I felt as if I was being watched when I was the only one there. One thing that I was put-off by was this number counter thing on the counter. I guess it showed how many reviews they received on Facebook. Not the type of decoration I see at other coffee places. I enjoyed the drink I ordered, but heaven's sakes could it be ANY more expensive!!!! I was just trying a new place and now almost regret it. Oh, and when I tried to order some food off the menu they didn't have any of the ingredients for what I wanted. Only some of the spicy stuff I cannot eat. There was some merch to purchase, however there were very few options and I did not see any options for sizes of the t-shirts. The prices were not listed so I needed to ask one of the employees. Unfortunately it took a bit to get her attention and by then I was no longer interested. In all honesty, avoid this place and keep walking. The prices are outrageous, the ambiance is college dorm girly at best and it feels as if the employees are watching and judging you.
