What a great spot in downtown Cedar Falls. It was surprisingly busy when we were there on a Thursday afternoon. You order your tea at the counter and then it is brought to you in a little tea pot with an hour glass. If it's a black tea you ordered, you have a five minute timer. If it's herbal, you have a seven minute hour glass. There's a display of mismatched cups and saucers to choose from to drink your tea. I ordered a London Fog which came out in a great pottery mug. I've never been to Tea Cellar, but I was fortunate to try their tea when someone gifted me some of it. Shortly before I ran out, I placed an $80 order on their website and received the tea quickly! There was a missing item from my order so I emailed them and not 4 minutes later, Justeen emailed me back and said she was going to priority ship the remaining part. The shop sells pastries if you need a bite. i believe they ship teas ordered online, but if you're in the Cedar Falls area, please visit and enjoy the atmosphere. Not only here specifically, but the whole small town downtown. The staff is very friendly, humble and helpful if you need to narrow down a selection or have a tea question. personal favorite: The Tea Cellar White. While wheelchair accessible, their ramp is pretty steep. Their restrooms are plenty large. read more

It is great to see NE Iowa with a tea shop. I met the owner on my stop in and she was just lovely and welcoming. So many options for loose leaf teas of all varietals and different sizes. Though I've only stopped in once, I loved my visit to the Tea Cellar. The staff member was super friendly and helped me pick out and figure out how to make iced tea at home, and the interior was super cozy and friendly. I'm looking forward to making more purchases here when I'm downtown. STUFF TO KNOW: -Expect to wait 3-7 minutes (depending on which tea you order!) for your tea to be brewed. -Tea Cellar does iced and hot versions of their teas. They have to-go cups and for-there cups. -Tea Cellar brews tea to drink and enjoy. They also sell their tea varieties in various sizes (from 1 ounce to 5 ounces) as well as tea accessories including cups, tea pots, infusers, pitchers, and more. -There's a small, 6-8 person table with chairs that can be booked in advance for a larger party. There's a blanket divider to keep this table a bit more private from the rest of the area. I was talking to the staff member, and she mentioned that it gets rented often for Mother/Daughter tea parties and things of that nature! -There's a Customer Loyalty card. Ten teas, and your 11th is free. PROS: -The staff member I talked to, Olivia, was super friendly in addition to being super helpful. She was great at making conversation, and she was happy to answer my questions (and let me take photos around the business). She also was happy to advise me and help me pick out particular items to try making some of their iced teas at home. Amazing customer service! -I was surprised by how open and welcoming Tea Cellar felt. I mean, it's a business in a basement - but it doesn't FEEL like it's in a basement. They've done a fantastic job of setting up and decorating in a way that helps things feel cozy and welcoming instead of dark and dreary. -They use adorable tea glasses and plates to serve up their tea. Instead of going with a full matching set, each little tea cup is unique, and it's pretty adorable. -Wild Cherry tea actually tastes like wild cherry! I think I'll take them up on their offer for a bit of sugar added to the brew next time, but it was particularly cherry-licious with a deep pink color. It was a lovely iced drink to sip on with the warmer temperatures. CONS: -I feel awkward going into Basket of Daisies (another business) in order to get to the stairwell to go down to Tea Cellar. Very excited to be the first to review this place, stumbled upon it the other day and today I am here with my fam. My wife, son, and myself shared a chai ginger tea latte, and a brownie for about $5. Atmosphere i would call a bit hip and rustic. Gorgeous piece of wood for their front cash register area, low key patio chair with wooden table top for customers and wooden crates for retail. They have free wifi. They have been open for 2 weeks! From Nov 19th. Check them out! Welcoming low key place. :) read more

They have such a large and diverse menu to give you many choices and opportunities to keep trying something new. It's great to have a place specifically focused on tea. The new location feels a lot more spacious and bright. My one slight criticism is that I ordered some sort of raspberry tea, steeped it for 7 minutes as the little hour glass suggested, and it was wayyy too strong and tart. Not all herbal teas should steep that long! I enjoy the little details, like getting to pick out my own vintage tea cup to use. read more

Where do I even start? I have been in love with this shop for 2 years! The tea here is absolutely phenomenal (I will include some recommendations at the end of my review)! There is such an amazing selection of high quality, loose leaf teas of varying tastes; no matter your preferences, they'll be something for you here. The pastries are just as delicious as the tea! If you happen to be down here when they are selling molasses cookies, do yourself a favor and get one- you won't be disappointed! Beyond the food and drink, I would highly recommend coming down to the cellar just for the experience. This place is truly unlike anything I have ever experienced before; it has such a cozy, friendly atmosphere! Lastly, I must mention the wonderful staff! In order for me to give such a glowing review to a business, the staff must be beyond excellent, and that they are! The employees here are so accommodating and kind. I come here multiple times a week, which has allowed me to get to know the staff very well, and I can assure you that they are an amazing group. The owner of this fine establishment, Justine, is one of the most genuine and amazing people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. What a little gem! Stopped here last week and had a delicious London Fog tea latte. I have trouble finding any kind of milk tea like this so was delighted when they offered it and it was so so good! The decor is very cozy and the owner and staff are welcoming. The environment is relaxing and they really create an entire tea experience - from a variety of teas, to choosing your tea cup, to delicious baked goods, to timers to help you know how long to steep your tea. And I love that they do not serve any coffee because while I am a coffee drinker mostly, the owner has actually made tea just as good and satisfying. Wow! What a find! The cutest, nicest, warmest little tea shop! I'm so tired of the big ugly green coffee shops around that this is such a welcome addition to Cedar Falls! Not only is it warm and welcoming, the proprietor is so helpful and nice. I was in the Tea Cellar for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The gentleman working was not friendly at all. He did not greet us, smile or say thank you. I had to ask him to clean off a table for us and he was not happy about it. I would have canceled my order then but we were meeting a business client and did not want to cancel on them. I had seen this place advertised in the Northern Iowan and had to check it out. It is really an "underground tea experience" as it is a tea lover's dream in the basement underneath a boutique store. Justin is excellent and incredibly welcoming. She knows what she is doing with her tea and gets along very well with her customers. This is a great addition to the up and coming Cedar Falls Main Street with a relaxing, homey feel. Highly recommended. read more

Highly recommend! How do I start... this place is much better/different than your typical tea store, gas station (iced coffee), and Starbucks. This store is completely homemade and has its own recipes. The chaí, tea, and lattes are all amazing. They taste different than your ordinary tea store. The flavors are all original and each flavor actually tastes like what it is called. The store looks visually appealing and makes you feel "at home" when visiting. The prices are also not overpriced unlike other similar stores. I am not from around here, and this place is so good I will travel a distance to come visit here. I would give more stars if the rating would allow me to, just because overall, with every aspect put together I would greatly encourage you to stop by, because you won't regret it!
