Passed by this bar many times. Finally checked it out tonight. I do not care who you love. Straight couple did not feel welcome.

Harassed by the short bartender to wear mask even with a drink in my hand that was actively being consumed.

It's a great place to hang with friends , perfect for catching up, playing cards, or just chit-chatting . There's also an outdoor area with heaters and a fire pit, which was a nice touch. For a holiday happy hour, a few friends and I decided to check out The House (which is owned also by the owners of Lulu's, next door) was a great and very festive options--everything from lights to decorations (even dancing motorized Christmas figures!) to themed drinks. I had a cinnamon tequila sour that did not disappoint, and our cocktails were all spot on. I also learned that if you wanted, you can order food from Lulu's from The House and someone will deliver it over to you (if you're fine just chilling and don't want to walk over to Lulu's)! As for the location, I cannot wait to come back when it is nicer out because they have a large front area with heaters, seats, and just a general ambiance of chill. If it is colder, be aware that the house is small--so larger groups may find it harder to grab seats! I'm happy that I got to experience this place and it is definitely now on my list of places to go when I need a low-key drink! Thanks everyone at The House for a great experience and can't wait to see you next time!

This place is incredible--it's housed in the oldest building in Kansas City (built around 1850!), and you can really feel that history the moment you walk in. It's rare to find a spot where the past feels so alive while still being a vibrant, local hangout. I treated myself to an Old Fashioned, and it was excellent. Balanced, strong, and exactly what I was looking for. My bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable, which really added to the welcoming "neighborhood" vibe. Whether you're rolling solo or with a crew, there is plenty of seating for both small and large groups. It's the kind of place that feels just as comfortable for a quiet afternoon drink as it does for a lively night out with friends.

So when I rolled in here about a month ago for a happy hour with the gals I hadn't been in probably a decade. My memories of Kelly's were clouded by early 20s nights out in Westport, and my impression of the place was that it was usually overly crowded, filled with bros, and a bit dirty. Essentially, the kind of place I feel like I would have found myself in during my college years. All of this being said, I have a friend that is a die hard Kelly's fan and I was genuinely excited to stop in, this time as a person in their mid 30s, and at a respectable time, to see what it's like on an average Thursday. You know what? It's damn delightful. First of all, the drinks are affordable, the bartenders are super nice and laid back, and while there were a good amount of folks in the bar, there was ample seating for our group. We never felt rushed, and it was nice to go to a bar that was unpretentious and just felt comfortable to hang out at. We stayed so long I ended up grabbing some pizza from Guys (that'll be the next review!) and honestly I just had a really nice, chill, evening catching up with friends. Is it the nicest, hippest, bar in town? No, but it's a KC institution for a reason, and I'm happy to be reintroduced it as an adult, and to find that an old friend like Kelly's still has a ton to offer even if you are no longer part of the 1am crowd.

My wife ordered the Red Beans and Rice. My son ordered the Cajun Pene Pasta and I ordered the New Orleans-Style Sautéed Shrimp. The Red Beans and Rice were tasty. I love spicy and I liked it. It had a good amount of sausage pieces and I like the fact that they were not watery. The Cajun Pene Pasta with Chicken was my second best dish. It was delicious and loaded with great tasting chicken. My top favorite was the New Orleans-Style Sautéed Shrimp. It was unique with a nice balance of lemon taste and creamy sauce to go with the sauted shrimp. It came with a healthy amount of toasted bred to dip in. Yes, I dipped and dipped again!! The service was friendly and diligent. It felt friendly and helpful. Definitely, a place we can all return to!

I got there early around six and it was easy to find parking... leaving at 10 or 11 o'clock at night as a nightmare though because they lock blocked down the street... because I hadn't been in Westport for a while. I didn't realize this, but it just took longer. Food was great. The nachos were outstanding but for 7 bucks what do you expect? Sliders were surprisingly good because I usually have low expectations.... Would stood out for both of the items was the pulled pork was really tender and worth going there just for that. Wine selection was limited, but the mixed strengths were extensive... patio is nice. It's what you would expect from a bar. That's been there forever and just has great service and great prices.
