A laid back bar like I remember them 20 years ago. Brings back memories of Hooterville Station in Toledo. A wood heavy theme with all the wonderful vintage sign charms and pictures of former entertainers. I went in talent show night so fun with all types of goods and bars. I came here on a Friday night, being told that this was a "country gay bar." I must admit, I'm not a country fan, but I decided to go along with it. When we arrived, around 1:30 AM, I found the bar only moderately busy, and sans the promised country music. Instead of twang, I was greeted with a dance floor full of homos jamming out to some awesome 80s and 90s ballads. There were also new top 40-ish dance songs intertwined between the jams. Interesting, but fun nonetheless! Regarding the bar itself, I was pleasantly surprised. By this point in time, I had reached my blood alcohol saturation point, and was only ordering water. The bartender was so friendly and made sure to keep my lowly water glass filled. In fact, he was so nice, that I actually ended up tipping him more than I'd tip for alcoholic drinks! While I don't expect that I'd come here regularly, I did have a good time. It was certainly something out of my norm, but that can be a good thing! We didn't encounter a cover charge, so that's a bonus. You'll know you've found the bar when you find a building that looks like a cross between the Old West and a shade of lipstick which only a drag queen would wear! read more

Between the memories of the first time I was approached by a hooker and a partner that barked directions due to my poor two stepping ability, there was never a reason to rush back. I should have stuck to that thought pattern. Sidekicks isn't a bad place. If you like country music and an older crowd, this is the place to go. I felt a little too young to be there though, even with my quickly graying hair. The drinks were mixed well. Everyone was having a good time and there didn't seem to be any drama going on anywhere. Went here for their hopping Latino night. Man, it was saucy! This is a no frills bar/dance hall. Dive bar meets country hall meets gay bar. It ain't fancy, but you will have a great time. It's CASH ONLY which means the drinks are cheap. I think wells were $3.25 or something crazy like that (and it wasn't happy hour). Our bartender was the former drag star of Missy B's, and he was so nice. He provided great service and was doing everything to enable a good time. Only downside is the location can be a little sketchy late at night. read more

Recommended by a local but not a great choice. Drinks were super expensive (gin & tonic and whiskey on the rocks = $20+). The term "dive bar" can be endearing but not in this case, if just meant dump! Don't get me started on the bathroom! There were about 6 of us there and the guy next to us was standing in the well area so the bar tender acted a little irritated - again, 6 of us TOTAL in the bar lol. I've been in this bar twice since I moved to Missouri. While most of the folks at the bar were friendly and drink prices reasonable. I have one serious complaint both times the smell of the bar is overwhelming, it smells like urine and B.O, the second time I went was worse than the first because it was a little warm in the bar so it made the smell even stronger. I was not the only patron complaining. The bar could use a good cleaning for sure. In addition the second time I went to the bar I was there to watch a pageant. The stage area is nice would love to see a little bit more seating but I was surprised by the lack of lighting on the stage. The area directly in front of the judges table was completely dark. This is a really good bar! Nice people and a friendly environment. They have billiards, and darts if you're so inclined. Personally I love the Drag shows! Really good entertainment. all the drag Queens are good, but my favorites are "Dove Kc" and "Nikita" beautiful and classy!! I'm there nearly every Friday night. The place has a tendency to scare away those with attitude, which is a really positive quality, as far as I'm concerned. I try to make it out when I can. Usually it's nice to bring groups of friends because the bartenders are really friendly and prompt. This is my home away from home. On the weekdays they have poker games at different time of the evening. It is very laid back and the staff is very friendly. Saturday's Latin Night is the BOMB!!! The show is #1 and standing room only! I was surprised to see a variety of people from different age groups and anything goes. Also, I questioned several people why they liked coming to this place and was told repeatedly, "It is laid back, your not judged and there is no drama like fights!" I was also very surprised at the attendance of Wednesday evenings Bud Wiser's King Show! Saturday evening you can come early at 7:30pm and learn country western line dance steps and continue to practice them until the Latin Show starts at 11:30pm.
