Last week several friends and I went to Side track for dinner. We started with the chicken liver mousse which was outstanding. We ordered 4 entrees to share and sample and all were so delicious, especially the scallops and lasagna. To top it off we ordered several desserts, the tres leches cake and the grown up s'more. My mouth is watering writing about them! The night was special. So much to love here....the bar, the atmosphere, the staff, and most of all, the food. Do yourself a favor and head to Side Track. Casey makes our day better every time we walk up to her bar. My wife's expectations are not as high as mine are as a former bartender but man is she happy every time we sit at Casey's bar and she immediately serves me an ice water and gets her a Diet Coke upon arrival - even if it's standing room only. Service from apps to dessert is perfect and she remembers things like extra sauce or pepitas on our favorite salad without us ordering them just because we ordered it that way once. Solid food. Not mind blowing but decent. Julian, our waiter was awesome. Guacamole was a JOKE! $11 for a few chunks of avocado, a few sprigs of cilantro, and a few chunks of tomato. Not even mashed together, and a very small portion indeed. Rajas were excellent, salad was great, okra chips fantastic, pizza about average. Very, very thin crust. If you want a great pizza, don't go here for that. Once again, if you do go, ask for Julian, he was great. They may improve the guacamole because I did, nicely, tell Julian they needed to up there game on that. read more

We love the Boathouse and wanted to branch out. Had heard some reviews that had us apprehensive about the wait service here; however John highly surpassed our expectations, being extremely attentive and able to advise us on appetizers and entrees. The food was delicious and everyone tried multiple entrees and sides from each other's plates and were extremely pleased. Most definitely worth the drive outside of the city. I recommend the "Rojas" app and the "Guajillo chili chick" both amazing (don't sleep on the peppercorn ground mignon). And whatever they do to the squash/zucchini it should never be cooked any other way. It was fantastic. read more

My husband and I went to Side Track this evening to celebrate our anniversary. This was our first visit but we are big fans of the Boathouse, which is run by the same people, so we felt like it was a safe choice. We were greeted and seated immediately by a very pleasnt hostess. Our server, Mike, was very helpful and knew the menu very well. We decided to share the wedge salad with added bacon. In addition to the usual bacon and tomato topping with blue cheese dressing, it had fried leeks and super-thin fried wontons. It was really, really good. My husband ordered the fried shrimp and broken potatoes. The shrimp were huge and they were lightly breaded, crisp, and tender. The potatoes were cooked twice; baked and then smashed and fried. I didn't try one, but my husband said they were great! I had the chicken picatta with orzo. I can honestly say that was the best picatta I have ever had in my life! It was lightly breaded and pan fried, and because it was cooked in that hot wood-fired oven, the crust was crisp almost to the point of being crunchy, but the inside was moist, tender, juicy, perfection. Then it had that lemon butter caper sauce on top along with the herbed orzo. I brought leftovers home and I am so excited about lunch tomorrow I may not be able to sleep tonight! My only complaint was that there is no type of bread served when you are seated. That seems odd for a restaurant of this caliber. The food was awesome and the service was great. I am so happy that we have a locally owned place like this in Hixson. We will definitely be back. read more

We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant,very cozy-we sat in an area similar to an enclosed patio. The food was amazing. My daughter & I both had the roasted chicken & both were exceptional. I ordered a side of the crispy leeks that was big enough to share & my daughter had the cabbage wedge was good as well. My son in law had a burger that looked really juicy. We also orders dessert - the shortcake & berries &coconut cake - both were amazing! I left my debit card & had to wait 2 days for them to get back to me. Husband and I went on an impromptu date and glad we chose this neighborhood spot. The food was delicious!! We started with the carpaccio (yum!) then ordered their lamb burger with fried squash and zucchini! The burger was huge, like going to a pub, and the veggies were so yummy! Hot and fresh. It'a hard to believe that the people behind this place have previous restaurant experience. There is very little correct here. It's dark. Which I guess is to hide the faux interior and the cheap materials used like fake concrete bricks. The menu is small and over priced. The food is mediocre at best. The staff is horrible at timing entrees and appetizers. The location is weird for this type of restaurant. It seems like the entire thing is the result of group think with bits of pieces of ideas mixed together with no real over arching strategy. People in the area deserve better. This place is a new offering from long-term Chattanooga restauranteurs, and it's a win. The menu is basically bar food done right, and it's a great deal of fun. The flash-fried leeks and okra appetizers were light, not greasy, and seriously tasty. Three of our party had the lamb burger; I got a bite and it was seriously tasty and cooked as ordered. The tomato pesto salad is caprese but not named as such; nice selection of grape tomatoes.The rajas were amazingly rich; great in small doses. And a taste of the guajillo chicken made me want more. All three desserts on the menu were tasty, but the coconut tres leches gets my vote. (Yes, I just said "tasty" three times.) I have only one complaint: the place is hard to find. It's on the edge of a commercial strip, with no sign on the street and only a very subtle, tasteful, hard-to-read illuminated sign on the building proper. We finally stopped at a gas station to ask; the guy told me it was right next door and assured me I wasn't the first person to ask. Get a sign, guys! We want to find you again soon! read more

What a remarkable addition to an under served community in the Hixson area. Known for outstanding restaurant skills (Boathouse, Canyon Grill, Sugars Ribs), SideTrack does not disappoint. From the ambience to service, this addition will improve with time. The menu has something for everyone, eclectic and diverse. Glad to have another choice besides fast food. Nice environment but was hard to carry conversation due to very loud music. Limited beer menu, but one I tried was very good. I enjoyed the okra. Our pizza was cold when it arrived at the table, so didn't enjoy as much has I would have if it had been hot. (overheard table next to us complain to manger food was cold too) Hopefully these issues will be addressed because hard to justify their prices for what I had. read more

The restaurant is nicely furnished with good ambiance. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Jesus was our server, and did a really good job. He was knowledgeable about the menu and attentive without being smothering. I felt like the menu was small and not overly diverse. I think if you have only six entrees, and three are fish, you should be a seafood joint. Not the case here. We settled on the shaved fried okra for our appetizer which was very good! I had the chopped filet mignon and she had the rosemary chicken for entrees. Both were good, but not great. I had the fried leeks on the side and she had the street corn. The corn was by far the better choice! It was excellent! The leeks were ok, but not as good as the corn. My chopped filet mignon was also not as good as her rosemary chicken, which was very good! We ate all of both our meals and might have had desert, except they did not have a single offering without flour, so we passed. Might go back but maybe not... Plus, the name sounds much more like an out of town bar where you might wind up after a hunting trip than a nice restaurant! read more

Came for dinner on a Sunday evening. Quiet inside, but loved the decor and ambience. Our meals, salmon and scallops, were both delicious. Our server suggested the peach cobbler for dessert, and because peaches are my favorite fruit, we had to try it! So glad we did, it was perfect! Boathouse is great. This was a disappointment! I ordered fish tacos. the two small tacos were covered with a long stringy slaw. After second bite I realized I didn't taste any fish! the smallest piece of fish {1/4 inch diameter 2 inches long} I've ever seen! The okra chips were cold and burnt! My friend shared his burger or I would have needed to stop and eat afterwards. The service was excellent. Walking out ,I told the manager and he said , why didn't you tell me? He didn't offer to adjust bill or credit anything. I always prefer to have a peaceful enjoyable dinner and not complain! I handle this disservice by crossing the restraunt of the list to refer and to return to. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, as it's on my commute home from work. My partner took me there for date night tonight. The server, Moe, was attentive and friendly. He recommended the chicken piccata and potatoes which were to.die.for. My partner had the mignon and the grilled veggies, which he greatly enjoyed. At one point in our meal, the manager even came up to make sure that everything was up to our expectations! We ended our meal with the berry shortcake, which was fresh and delicious. New restaurant from exceptional owners - a great renovation of the building provides multiple options for seating without seeming overcrowded. We started with the crispy okra chips which are thinly sliced and covered in spices adding a bright flavor to the earthy okra. We had the lamb burger with the crispy potatoes and the rosemary chicken breast with grilled red cabbage. All prepared fresh and with great flavor and cooked to order. Fill bar and great service topped off our visit. We will be back. I recommend a visit. The menu is brief but varied and I am told will be expanding. read more

3 stars: A-OK. We were a little disappointed in our overall experience, but we visited the restaurant in either its second or third week. Food and drink seem a touch over-priced, but maybe it could be a fair value if the execution improves. The highlight of the meal was the half-chicken, Asian style (I don't remember the exact name). It was really tasty, had an excellent flavor, and the chicken was not dry at all. Also, the okra chips were a great starter. The margarita pizza left a lot to be desired in terms of flavor, crust, sauce, cheese... I realize that's basically everything... Some of the deco, particularly the brick facade (it may be real, but it doesn't look like it) and the mix and match chairs in the side room, doesn't present well, but that's a minor quibble. read more

I tried out Sidetrack for the first time last night and was impressed with the ambiance and decor of he restaurant. The server took plenty of time to explain the menu and made recommendations. We settled on a wood fired 1/2 chicken dish and the ground fillet mignon with grilled cabbage and a potato dish that uses a baked potato that is cut up and fried. Every dish we tried was well seasoned and perfectly prepared. At that point I decided that leaving after such a meal would be so shameful I'd never forgive myself if I didn't try the Coconut Tres Lychee Cake which was delicious. The staff was very professional and attentive. My date declared this was her new favorite restaurant and I'm inclined to agree. read more

First visit for me was a very good one. On a very busy Friday evening 4 of us made our way to the busy bar area. The one bartender worked fast and efficiently tending everyone ahead of us and then our drinks. A 35 minute quoted wait had us at our table in less than 15 minutes. Two fried appetizers of Leeks and Okra arrived quickly and the Okra was the definite winner. My order of Chicken Piccata, that was surprisingly a thick cut, was cooked beautifully with wonderful Orzo. Two orders of the Salmon had high marks as well as the chopped Filet. A nice atmosphere and good service made the night a success. read more

Girls night out...wanted to try something new...so, we headed to SideTrack. We had heard good reviews so decided it would be a good choice. The atmosphere is nice, one side a little dark 'romantic'. We sat in a less dark area, like the porch area. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. We all tried something different so we could sample more dishes. Appetizer was guacamole and chips - delish! I had a chicken sandwich stacked high with broken potatoes (you got to try these). Dessert was ice cream and berries; definitely large enough to share. The food was great and a good time was had by all. The menu is limited as compared to other similar restaurants and some of the entrees are a little pricey. Another drawback is everything is ala carte, so to add a side to your sandwich or entree will cost you an additional $4 to $6. You can run up a bill quickly if you like a couple of sides with your entree. Overall, great food, superb service, excellent company....will add it to my list of restaurants when I am in the Hixson Pike area. Until next time... read more

The food is fine. The food isn't the problem. I went there last night to eat with a party of 8. They don't take reservations, so I fully expected a 30 wait when we arrived at 7:30. I did not expect a 90 minute wait, wherein multiple groups were seated before us and the children running the front of the house forgot us. Our biggest mistake was clearly waiting at the bar instead of standing by the door where they could see us. I finally had to point out two 4 tops to push together for us, but it took 15 minutes to get those wiped off. We never received then slightest apology for our unnecessary wait. By the time we were seated the restaurant was nearly empty and we were stuck by the kitchen nonetheless. Simply put, the service will prevent me from returning here. read more

I went last night with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we had such a great experience! There were 10 of us, and they were able to make a reservation for me with pretty late notice. My partner and I are vegan, so I emailed in advance to see what our options might be (their menu doesn't have any vegan or vegetarian entrees, but tons of veggies as sides and apps). The GM emailed me back quickly and was really helpful, and then he checked in with us during our meal to make sure we found options. The fried mushrooms, leeks and okra chips were all delicious, and they edited the wood grilled beans and okra for us (they typically include bacon grease). We had plenty to eat and it was all SO GOOD! Our server, Hunter, was awesome too. He was really nice and friendly with our big group, and made sure to tell my mom happy birthday. He was super patient with all of our special requests! It was a great meal, and I really appreciated how accommodating and responsive the entire staff was. Can't wait to go back!
