Took the wife and mother in law out for a change of scenery to the wonderful place called Chattanooga. Wound up at the aquarium for a couple hours and ended up hungry at the very end of it. Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. Wife enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese whilst I was mesmerized by how subtle and uber smooth my Old Fashioned was. We unwinded and talked about our day here in this city and then our next meal plates arrived. I had the very unique and well presented Beet Ravioli and the wife had the exquisite Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. Immediate upon arrival to our table my wife and I exchanged a bite of each other's plates to give a chance for our taste pallets to experience one another. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. Towards the end, I saved the location at the name of the restaurant, as I would like a near future to come back and visit with more time. My husband and I stopped by this chic restaurant for a date night while visiting Chattanooga. It was walking distance from our hotel and the menu looked delicious so we decided to come here. They had an excellent red wine selection and the waiter was extremely nice! We decided to start with the jerk cauliflower and it honestly was my favorite thing on the menu! We had an excellent experience at Wooden City and would happily return. We ordered the Hungarian peppers, pepperoni pizza, and chicken schnitzel, and everything was outstanding. The flavors were sublime, the food was well-prepared, and the ambiance was upbeat and energetic. We made dinner reservations for a relatively early NYE meal before plans for later that evening. Uber dropped us off, and I'm glad it did as parking didn't seem to be available on a busy night. We started with wings, a dry rub (crispy as well) with the buffalo and a sort of jerk/jamaican sauce as well as ranch. Very good wings--though perhaps not $17 for 7 good (though it was Dec 2025 inflation). I had the burger, added bacon, and swapped fries for the potato fingerlings. My wife had the spicy lamb rigatoni. Her pasta was phenomenal, perfect sauce and meat (thankfully she let me have a couple of bites). The potato fingerlings were amazing--so crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. My burger was on point as well--massive, double patty cooked to perfection. Honestly, if I were to order it again I would have asked to hold the slaw which just seemed to distract from the texture and quality of the meat, and I'd leave the bacon off as it was closer to prosciutto than bacon--limp, chewy. Drinks were good, I had a couple of the draft beers my wife ordered a lemon drop which she said they made strong and potent. All in all--great service, classy but casual, food very good to great with some real standouts on a simple, but varied menu. Stopped in after placing a to-go order for wings and their fingerlings potatoes. Deliciousness. Honestly I grab wings here whenever I'm in the mood but have never eaten in. I'm not sure the menu items are my taste BUT their wings are THE BEST in town. I didn't have it tonight but my sister would even say their cesar salad is the best she's ever had!! First time visiting. The atmosphere is electric. The bar staff is spot on. In the time I was there, they made 35 drinks. The staff is very attentive and refill water and bottles of water. The food was a level up. If it's the weekend I'd make a reservation as it was full on the weekend night I was there. They have inside, bar, and outside seating. My friends and I went here on our last night in Chattanooga and we were so happy we chose this place. They were open a bit later than the others for Monday night, 10:30p, and we had the place to ourselves except for a couple other small parties. We were sat in a nice round booth as a party of five, the ambience was beautiful, high class and modern with a clean feeling and great lighting that was not too bright or dim. They had lots of cocktails to choose from, i had the happy days. My friends had the espresso martini and a couple other custom drinks. We all loved them! So exquisite. The food menu was expansive and we could barely decide, we ended up going for a few different plates and sharing, trying the lamb rigatoni, chicken schnitzel, bone marrow appetizer, fingerling potatoes, and a classic Margarita woodfired pizza. We added the sherry luge to the bone marrow and it made for a fun unique experience for us. All of the dishes were delicious, rigatoni had interesting flavors, and did not taste how I expected it to, the lamb was almost reminiscent of andouille sausage in the flavor, and it had a different tape on a traditional dish. Really enjoyable. It was also my first time trying bone marrow. It was a real treat with its pairings and flavors and textures. My favorite of the dishes was the chicken schnitzel, it was so tender. It was juicy while not being oily or deeply fried. The breading was tasty and the rice and cabbage with sauce that it was laying on top of was the best pairing, adding texture and colder temperatures, it was a true standout. The pizza is also exactly how it should be for a woodfired pizza, thin crust, the kind you almost have to fold. So good. Our server was so sweet.
