Called my glass guy in California and he said that it was a special fix and that I would have to get the parts from Knapheide and he would install it for $75. So I called Knapheide. They wanted $129.99 for the 9x30 window, outer seal was $11.99 per foot, inner seal $9.99 per foot with a minimum 8 feet each must be purchased. So I was looking at $380.83 without shipping and taxes. I was still far away from home so I decided to give Glass Doctor of Utah County a shot. They were able to fix everything for $239.40 before taxes saving me at least $140. They were super professional and friendly and the person that did my window had over 30 years of experience.

Short version: I…read morerecently had my car's windshield replaced at Glass Doctor in American Fork. It was, bluntly, a TERRIBLE experience. The new windshield cracked in less than two weeks while the car simply sat in my driveway. In spite of all signs pointing towards a manufacturing flaw or installation mistake, Glass Doctor insisted it couldn't be their fault and wanted $150 to replace it (the original job cost $360). When I pushed back, they acted like I was the problem (rather than the failed windshield) and made it clear they had no desire to earn my trust or continued business. Unless you want that kind of grief in your life, I'd strongly recommend taking your business somewhere else. Long version: After the replacement, my car sat in my driveway for 2 weeks (I use a different car for around-the-town driving). Sometime in those 2 weeks, the new windshield cracked. Googling the issue yielded the likely cause of a "stress crack", which are "cracks that appear without visible signs of impact, often starting from the edge of the windshield" and noted that the common causes include "manufacturing defects or poor installation." That fit the circumstances perfectly: no signs of impact at all (and it would be quite the feat to get hit with a rock sitting in the driveway), crack started from the edge, and shortly after installation. When I called Glass Doctor, their attitude could best be described as "that sucks for you." They insisted that replacing it would cost $150 under the terms of their warranty, no matter the cause and in spite of the fact that they could offer no explanation for why it had cracked so quickly. Unsatisfied, I asked to speak with the owner. When she called me, I explained that, in my viewpoint, all signs pointed to either a bad part or an error in the installation. I explained that this should be a "we're so sorry, give us another chance to earn your trust" situation, not a "you can roll the dice again for another $150" situation. She proceeded to accuse me of "bad mouthing" her installer and her company for suggesting that the installer could have made a mistake, because "he's one of the top 20 in the nation." She said I was "bullying" her for being honest that I intended to share my experience, good or bad, in an online review. She insinuated that I was lying about the car not being used, despite my offering to bring in a statement of work from my mechanic showing the mileage the last time it was serviced to prove it. She made it clear that earning my trust and future business wasn't important to her. She insisted it couldn't be a stress crack because they "usually run horizontal" (I couldn't find anything online to support the idea that stress cracks run horizontal). She absolutely would NOT acknowledge that they could have made a mistake. She finally agreed to replace the windshield free of charge ONLY after making it clear that she would never do business with me again (who would want to do business with the company after this anyway?!?) After they replaced the windshield again, I asked if the technician could identify the cause of the crack. She said: "He said it could be a stress crack, but they usually run horizontal. So, no explanation for it. Maybe it was a small rock." Yeah, a small rock that hit a car in a driveway in a residential neighborhood, struck right at the bottom edge of the windshield (where the hood rises up to protect it) and left no signs of impact, yet caused a 10 inch crack almost immediately. Even when ALL INDICATIONS pointed to a stress crack, they preferred to ignore the facts, even when that required them to assume I was lying. They'd rather blacklist you than admit they could've made a mistake and attempt to make it right. This is not the kind of business I would trust. Take my experience as a cautionary tale.

These people are predators. Every time you see a review that names two sales people, it means that…read morethe company pressured the costumer and gave them a "better deal" if they would do a review. This company may have a good products, but they over-charge and waste your time. In the beginning I was pestered by them multiple times until I sat down for a 2 hour presentation on their products. I told them that I have a rule where I think things over for 24 hours before signing a contract, they kept pushing and pushing and offering me "better deals" until I gave in. After doing a tiny amount of research after the meeting, I found that they are seriously over-priced and are known to have aggressive sales tactics. Within the same day, I sent an email that I would like to cancel the contract (Legally I have 3 days to do so) and suddenly they go super quiet. I've sent multiple emails to the salesperson and still haven't heard anything. I've called and they claimed the contract was cancelled and yet I still received notifications that they checked my credit and even approved me for a loan. Do not work with these people!

Absolutely terrible experience. The company has dragged their feet from day one. Communication is almost nonexistent. My elderly grandparents have no idea when or if workers will show up. On the rare occasions they do call, the workers either cancel last minute or don't show up at all. When you try to call the company, no one answers, and voicemails are never returned. They ordered the wrong materials, then let them sit for weeks before even bothering to pick them up and reorder the correct supplies, causing even more unnecessary delays. The pricing is outrageous--2 to 3 times higher than the average, with absolutely nothing to justify it. After reading other reviews, it's clear this company preys on elderly customers, banking on the fact that they won't fight back. This has been nothing but excuse after excuse, delay after delay, and zero accountability. If they respond to this review telling you to call them, don't waste your time--no one will answer, and no one will call you back. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and money. Look elsewhere.

Essentially, they said they were coming to the neighborhood to offer a special deal for just a couple of houses, to update their windows as "model homes" where they give you a bangin' deal in exchange for some advertising (have a sign in the yard for 60 days, write a positive review, allow before/after photos, and share the amount of energy savings after a year of having the new windows). They would cover labor costs, installation, and discount the windows themselves 30%. The first guy took down my number because I said I wanted my husband home before they started taking measurements to give me a quote, and he called later saying the two slots had been filled. The next day or a couple of days later, another guy came to the door saying behold! We opened another spot! So we made an evening appt for another sales person to come and do the measurements. She came, explained their windows, the deal, the lifetime warranty, etc and I have to say, she was very kind and accommodating when it came to our 1.5 year old son and newborn who were vying for attention. But she opened with "I'll need a hard yes or a hard no by the end of this conversation, and my husband hates pressure tactics, so he was already skeptical. Long story short, their "super discounted price" was $45,000. Full price was nearly $92k. I don't think windows should be ~20% the value of our house, sorry. Anyway - we ended up giving a hard no, and I read online that this company gives the same spiel to everyone. There is no model home. I'm guessing their five star reviews are part of the "discounted" exchange. I'm glad my husband is not as easily duped as I! When the time comes for new windows, we will look elsewhere.

Most people respect this, but a representative from this window company ( PERFORMANCE WINDOWS) totally ignored them and rang my doorbell anyway. I was feeling sick and resting, and only answered because I thought it was an emergency. When I asked him to stop and pointed out the signs, he admitted he saw them but kept pushing his sales pitch about a "30% off promotion." When I declined again, he aggressively questioned why I wasn't interested, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable and cornered in my own home. This company clearly does not train its staff to respect boundaries or homeowners' privacy.
