I'm new to Texas and have been dreading finding a dentist due to my oldest's experience we had with a dentist. So I did my research and found Sienna Pediatrics. At our first visit with all 3 of my children I was nervous but after our first office visit I was so relieved. The process between Dr Howe(spell check) and his assistants made my experience as a mother so smooth and relaxed. My children loved it and even after their treatments they absolutely love coming in for their check ups. From having to go thru a very tragic experience to finding a dentist who actually loves what he does and you can see it in how he handles each child and procedure it's the best feeling ever. Ahead of my 6-year-old's most recent appointment, we informed the dentist that we'd like a specific procedure performed. He failed to do so. I emailed the office several times over the course of 6 weeks to ask that the dentist call me to discuss the plan for her treatement. Are you considering taking your child to Dr. John Howe? Please allow me (an adult to tell you about my experience at Sienna Pediatric Dentistry. Why did I go to a pediatric dentist you ask? I am a big baby. But also because I had a dental emergency and his office was kind enough to see me on short notice - even though I am in my mid-30's. My emergency arose from a 4 year period of neglect. I had a broken crown and quite a few cavities. I was incredibly nervous about the visit. Let's face it - a dental visit can be more intrusive than an entire day spent at you OBGYN's office. With that said, I will share my experience with you since most of his patients can't talk let alone type yet to tell you theirs. I was there for 4.5 hours. Not waiting in the waiting room but actually in the chair getting work done. Yeah, my mouth was not in good shape... That is until Tabitha (the best and MOST THOROUGH dental assistant on the planet) got in there and did her magic. Don't worry, I will be attaching before and after pics (if I can figure out how). They're kind of embarrassing but the difference is night and day! Once Tabitha was finished cleaning my teeth, Dr. Howe stepped in to start the process of repairing my 3 cavities and fitting me for a temporary crown. I have always had sensitive teeth so they numbed me up for my cleaning as well as the dental work itself. I dread those shots... But this time I actually barely knew they were even happening! They numbed my gums prior to the injections which made it go by without a hitch, a scream, cry or even a whimper Plus Dr. Howe has a very soft touch and in general just put me at ease during the whole process. I was also able to get caught up on my Pixar animated films, which played on the ceiling during my appointment - I recommend "The Good Dinosaur". Dr. Howe is an amazing pediatric dentist; great with kids AND with parents. He communicates very well about what we should be doing, any intervention that may be needed, etc. Our 4 year old is a pretty energetic and boisterous little guy and Dr. Howe matched his energy, so it kept him fairly distracted from a recent procedure. Later that evening, he called to check on him and you can tell he is genuine and cares about his little patients. Additionally, his office is equipped with kid-friendly activities - a movie theater, virtual play area, murals, etc. We moved away, but still make the drive to see him and would highly recommend him. As parents of a 4 year old and a 6 month old, we barely have time for anything, but wanted to stop and take a few minutes for this review because of our great experience here. read more

My daughter had her appt here for an extraction and specifically requested for Dr. Howe. We got an appt date and instead of just having an extraction, they did a tooth filling which was not approved so we're very unhappy about it since we have to pay an unexpected bill that day. It didn't help that the Doctor who did her procedure is not Dr. Howe. read more

I made the appointment with Dr. John Howe after having a terrible experience with another pediatric dentist yesterday. From the phone call to make the appointment to check out was an amazing experience. The staff are so professional and thorough. They made sure to explain everything and make sure my daughter was at ease the entire time. The movie theater was a perfect touch since her favorite movie was on lol. Dr. John is amazing!! He made sure to explain everything to me and also to my daughter. He built that trust with her by making sure that she understood that he wouldn't hurt her and that was so important to me. I called in as a new patient, after 20 minutes on hold and then another 10-15 giving my information I was told that my toddler who'd be having his first dentist visit ever would have to go back by himself. And unless he was "fighting" I'd have to stay out. I called around and this is not the "protocol" at other pediatric dentistry offices. They should of informed me of this "protocol" before we started. I would never let my baby just go back for his first time. How traumatizing that would be and as a new patient I'd need to feel comfortable and build trust. Using COVID as an excuse to provide a great experience is a shame. I was told this protocol wouldn't be lefties until COVID is "over", whatever that means. So disappointed. read more

So my princess is 2 years old and we wanted to look for a new new dentist after my experience at the one on 45 and league city .this place is the answer . The inside is kid friendly jungle setting with animals on the wall and hanging from the fake tree a movie room with bean bags the staff were super friendly to me and my daughter .ipad for registering instead of filling out pen and paper I wish this could be my dentist i think I found her and my son forever dentist .this dentist was very polite and patient with my 2 year old kicking and screaming they played a game with her to go get a prize before and after the teeth cleaning .I could tell the difference leavening here. We were referred here by a general dentist for pediatric care for my son. He needed major dental work and he was a "tough" patient. Dr. Howe did a great job and was very personable with my child. He explained the treatment plan and the reasons why they were necessary. Overall, the doctor met all expectations and deserves 5 stars. The staff, however, leaves much to be desired. The front desk lady behind the counter only wanted to talk about how much it was going to cost and making sure that we knew we were totally responsible regardless of insurance. This was a constant OCD type of behaviour that really turned us off after a few visits. Nobody wants to be reminded before, during, after, and on every phone encounter about payment and patient responsibility. Which begs the question, "Is this practice more about patient care or making lots of money?". Some redirection by the doctor in regard to this policy needs to be done. It would be easier to have Little Smiles of Sienna be the primary dentist for routine care for all my kids, but I am turned off by the culture as it stands. read more

I took my daughter (3) to her first dentist visit here today after seeing the great reviews. I'm so glad people took the time out to write one because I'm positive that I'm not the only mom trying to figure out this whole toddler going to a dentist thing. The reception area was clean and had an interactive digital floor game that kept my daughter preoccupied as I was answering some questions. It was nice that I didn't have 20 pages of repetitive paperwork to fill out. Every person was friendly and accommodating from the moment we stepped in the building. You can really tell that they all have a love for children, not a "here for a paycheck" vibe. Dr. Howe is the type of person that you feel like you've known for years when just meeting him for the first time. The world needs more doctors like him, too many lack active listening skills. They end up placing a professional wall so you end up not wanting to tell them anything. Anyways, I'm getting off track, we were in and out within 30 mins. Dr. Thach (Tepphanie) is wonderful. Both of my boys (4yrs and 5yrs old) needed "The DRILL" and I think I was more worried than they were considering this would be thier first real, possibly negative, experience at a dentist besides regular cleanings and check-up's. I was very informed of what was happening and the experience for my munchkins was great. The boys really enjoyed the movie theater in the waiting room and the prize at the end of the procedures. I switch my insurace to PPO just so my kids could go to this place. Our HMO plan experiences at other facilities were unplesant. Our appointments at Little Smiles were quick, the wait time was minimal and the entire office staff was nice and professional. I live in Sienna so not to mention convinient!! read more

Amazing experience. Dr. Howe was great with my son. He was able to get us in right away, with a 1yr old that is key!! My son had an issue with his tooth not breaking through the gum and Dr. Howe and his staff we very good and quick about getting it taken care of. The location was easy to find, and there was plenty of parking. Inside was very nice as well. I also didn't feel like I was just a number for them to get through their building. The staff and Dr. made me feel very comfortable to be there and to bring my kids there. read more

Our four children have been seeing Dr. Howe at his practice in Sienna Plantation since they were toddlers. We have been very pleased with our experiences these last 3 years -- that ALL of our children LOVE going to see Dr. Howe says it all. He is awesome with children and that goes a long way to establishing a positive and lasting impression of dentists in general with them. I moved to Sienna three years ago and have been taking my three kids to see Dr. Howe since. Our experience has been absolutely wonderful! My kids actually ask when the next dental appointment will be. My 3 year old daughter had a few cavities and had to go through some cleanings. Dr. Howe placed her under general anesthesia and performed the procedure flawlessly. My daughter did not complain or shed a tear. Dr Howe was very cautious when placing my daughter under anesthesia...and he simply made sure she was comfortable and mellow. As a parent, I felt safe as he constantly monitored my daughter's vital signs to ensure no problems. He is truly the best at what he does. He has made my kids experience with dental cleaning a way of life instead of torture. I will recommend Dr. Howe to all I know...two thumbs up! read more
