We opted for a new system. They had it installed and house cooled down when we returned on Saturday! We were also wanting to move our thermostat but wanted to talk through that. They came back on Monday to take care of moving the thermostat.

Several years ago, Airco installed a 3-ton variable-speed system in a house that had previously had a 2-ton unit (and a history of trouble keeping cool). After about a year of operation, our tenants reported mold in the ducts, high humidity, and a short-cycling unit. Our investigation found that the installer, Stuart, had never pulled a permit for the work. I want to be candid: it took a negative Yelp review to get Airco's attention. Jeremy reached out, recommended we upsize the ductwork, offered a very fair price, and agreed to close out the permits. I'm slow to trust, so I got second and third opinions from other HVAC companies -- they confirmed the system size was correct for the house, and that the ductwork should have been upsized at the original install. My own Manual J calculations agreed with Jeremy's. Notably, Jeremy was the only installer I could find who was actually willing to run a Manual J. He also followed through on pulling permits and getting the city inspection scheduled. Airco worked to schedule the new duct installation during the one week we'd be in town -- during peak season, no less -- and their crew moved fast and stayed professional, which I appreciated given how brutal a Texas attic is this time of year. A few days in, the system is no longer short-cycling, and indoor humidity has dropped to about 63%. Still a touch higher than ideal, but we think we can chase the rest of it down -- possibly window seals, possibly fan settings or duct leakage. I was impressed enough that I also used Airco for a plumbing call this week.

What made the experience particularly notable is that we had been service members with Radiant for the past four years. When we called them, the earliest prioritized appointment they could offer us was two weeks away, despite having no working AC in 100 degree weather. That experience prompted us to call Service Wizard instead, and I am very glad we did. Jeremiah was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. He took the time to explain what he was checking and what he found, without trying to sell us repairs or services we did not need. He also discovered that during a previous service visit, Radiant had installed the condensation shutoff on the secondary drain line rather than the primary line, where it should have been installed. I really appreciated Jeremiah catching and explaining that issue. Between the emergency availability, Jeremiah's knowledge and professionalism, and the overall experience, I was impressed enough to sign up for Service Wizard's membership before he left. After four years with another company's service plan, that says quite a bit. I feel much more confident knowing we have Service Wizard to call going forward. **1/5 Stars - Big Waste of Time (and almost a lot of money)**…read moreI wanted to like Service Wizard, but my experience with them was incredibly frustrating. My AC condensation pipe was completely backed up and needed to be flushed. Their tech arrived on time and seemed very professional, spending about an hour and a half working on the unit and inspecting everything inside and out. However, he couldn't find where the evaporator line exited the house. His solution? Install an external pump and run a whole new drain line. The rough estimate for that was, well, a hell of a lot more than the $15 fee they charged me just to come out and take a look. When he left, I still had the exact same broken AC, was stressing over an exorbitant bill to fix it, and somehow found out I'd been signed up for a $15-a-month service plan that entitled me to another check-up in six months just in time for winter. Hoping to just get it resolved, I reached out to Service Wizard via Yelp later that evening to see if they could come back today to do the work the tech recommended. I never got a response. Frustrated, I called a different AC company. They actually answered the phone, sent technicians out right on time today, and those guys spent **five minutes** at my house before finding the external line, repairing it, and flushing my system. Problem completely solved in under five minutes, and the fee was incredibly cheap compared to the massive quote I got from Service Wizard. I will definitely be canceling my $15-a-month contract with Service Wizard and won't be recommending them going forward. Save yourself the headache and call someone else!

I was referred to this company by another company because they do mobile homes. The service man came out and said there was a leak in my compressor and that he did not know where the leak was but he would try to put Freon in it. when he started I could hear the sounds of something then it quit and he came in and told me that the compressor was no longer any good and that I needed a new unit. I went thru the pain of trying to get financed for the unit and found another company that was even cheaper but I could not get approved. I had other people look at it and they said the compressor did not look bad at all. So I had a friend that knew a ac man and he came and checked it out and he said that the compressor was fine that the line had a hole in it and he thought that they tried to put too much Freon in it. So he welded the line, and put Freon in the compressor, and had to clean my outside coils, and saved me $3100.00 dollars that a new system would have cost if I had gotten approved. Get a second opinion. read more

Ray, the owner of Sierra Air, may go the "extra mile" when he is trying to get your business but the minute he gets you to do business with his company the "extra mile" is out the window. I was trying to decide on whether or not to have a new AC placed in my home. During my decision period I couldn't get Sierra Air to leave me alone...my phone was bombarded with messages trying to persuade me to go with them. But the minute I decided to go with Sierra Air and began having issues with the brand new unit, I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. And as for Ray, I never saw him again after his sales pitch...he didn't even install the unit much less inspect the work of the guys who did hence the problematic issues that began soon after the install. I'm now very leery of recommending them to anyone who needs any type of air service. It seems to me they are only out to make a buck. You have been warned. read more

I can't imagine why the guy from Austin is so disgruntled, I guess some folks are like that regardless of the great service you can't make them happy. Anyway, I just bought a 3-ton a/c unit and air mover from Ray. I can truthfully say that he's as good as it gets. Ray put a temp-fix on my old a/c to hold me till he put my new unit in. He installed my whole unit in one day @ a most reasonable price. I proudly take this opportunity to HIGHLY recommend Ray and his staff. I had a dehumidifier system issue and called my regular A/C guy to check it out, but he told me he did not work on dehumidifiers. That's when I called Sierra Air Services. I was thoroughly impressed with how conscientious and knowledgeable Ray was. It ended up being a simple fix and Ray stuck around to make sure everything was running well before leaving. Of course our heater went out during the first snow and ice storm February 15, 2021. I called Bryan, the owner, and he immediately told me what to do to keep the unit running for heat without any damage to the heater and came over as soon as possible. Told us it was just the fan, and he ordered us a new one and the next day we were up and running. Mind you many people were having many issues due to the heavy ice, and snow. Then, most recently our 5 ton AC/Heater failed, called Bryan, he came over immediately and verified it was broken. So, long story short he got us the best deal for a mid-grade reasonably priced unit.
