So good in fact, we were able to upgrade to a Carrier 2 stage system & install an Infinity air purifier & Reme Halo in duct air purifier. The office staff at Covenant was so friendly & communicated with us every step of the way. The installation team showed up on time & were polite, professional & hardworking. We own a condo in North Austin that was built in 1968 & have often required a bit more effort & work during any home improvement we've done. The AC install was no different but Mike Luker was onsite several times during the day & I was very impressed with the quality of direction he gave his team & the above & beyond customer service we received. Covenant basically rebuilt our furnace closet to insure the highest quality install. There were no hidden charges or surprises. The amount we were quoted was the exact amount we paid. So...my heater (that Covenant installed 12 years ago) stopped working. Blower not functioning. Covenant came out, inspected it ,and said I needed a new blower...to the tune of $3,800. Said that I had to think about that. Called another HVAC company in Georgetown to give it a look/see. They showed up and got it working like new. covenant had traded out the original 5amp fuse for a 30amp which would have blown up my furnace within 6 years...the tech from the other company replaced that. Also he blew out the drain lines that were plugged with algae. So final bill for fixing was $79.00. Don't use Covenant. They are either incompetent and/or Sheisters. read more

I have an overall negative experience with this Covenant company. I got a new Champion brand 2 ton 14 seer HVAC system installed by Covenant a few years ago. Looking back from today's view, I realize that I was heavily over charged. The price I paid to Covenant was almost the same as I recently paid for another new installation of a Carrier brand 3.5 ton 15 seer system. Besides price, the installation quality was another problem. During the 2 year labor warranty period, the system was found to have its plenum open in the attic, which was caused by a sloppy installation (bad seal). Then, right after the 2 year was over, we found the AC was draining water through the ceiling of the room under it. It was found that Covenant did not GLUE together a joint of the draining PVC pipe. They simply inserted the pipes together WITHOUT using PVC glue. When Covenant was contacted, they refused to address this problem, quoting the expiration of the 2 year warranty, not to mention the repair work needed for the ceiling. read more

We started using Covenant several years ago to service the HVAC system at our home. About four years ago we had to replace the system. After several quotes we selected Covenant. They were not the most expensive nor cheapest. Fast forward to the present day. Our system had a malfunction. A service person named Jared was assigned. Well just as might expect, the unit did not fail. While he was here, he did a general inspection and guess what. The unit failed before he finished. Seems it took about 30 minutes of running before it would fail. He then went into diagnosis mode. Because it took time for the unit to reset and then 30 minutes to fail after each attempt to repair the issue. Jared was here for a few hours. Jared took and did a wire-by-wire check of the entire system. There were a few wires that had nicks so he cut those wires off and reconnected the thermostat, and the change worked. Now for the bonus. Jared noticed that there was an issue with the plenum. He believed it was most likely due to the way the unit was installed. Covenant covers labor for one year. This was 4 years later. Jared called the office and explained what he saw. Covenant covered this repair at no cost. read more

I feel that they have always been completely honest with their work and believe that they absolutely do not charge for unnecessary services. We called Mike for a quote on a new system. He had already contacted two other companies. We chose Covenant because there was no hard sell or upsell. We were shown 3 systems and given the specs for them. We had planned on a mid range system but after learning about the differences we chose the top of line unit. Don't know what has happened to them. My 4th time to use them. This time not happy with service or charge and they didn't care. Crew showed up to replace thermostat without a thermostat. Told my husband what thermostat to go buy if they were to fix it. New thermostat broke. Came out again to replace and charged me for new thermostat and labor. $500 plus. read more

I paid over other estimates because Michael seemed like his company would do quality work. That was not the case, I should have read the reviews before I purchased. Installation quality was abysmal, be sure to watch them every moment and check all of their work. If you are not qualified, find another installer. To be clear Michael did no work, his installers are not proficient at non-air conditioning items. The AC works fine, but the thermostat installation was incomplete and I had to run my own thermostat wires to make my nest work, the installers did not tell me they did not wire the thermostat correctly. A year later I noticed large gaps where they knew air conditioning lines were run that I requested, I hope no mice...or other got into my attic. It took them 3 days to get back to my house after I called them, and they were 30 min late, The installer ran out of batteries for his drill and had to borrow mine. read more

We live in a two story home of 3000 sq ft. The original builder installed a single AC system for the entire house. Even though there was a stat controlled damper, the system never performed satisfactorily, the second floor either undercooling, and the first floor over cooling in the summer. After getting three quotes for a four zone system using all Carrier equipment including an Infinity series condensing unit, evaporator coil, and gas fired furnace, four zone dampers, and four thermostats. I also added a high efficiency air filter. It four full days for two experienced mechanics to complete the demo of the old equipment, and install the new equipment including new zone ducting and plenums. I hired Covenant based on the knowledge of the owner, their schedule, and their price. I am delighted with Covenant's performance and the system's performance. read more

Men of Integrity - NOT!! Met with Michael L., one of the owners, for a new AC/Heating system. He provided a detailed quote. Then he stated that if a competitor beat his quote on a same system he would match it. I had Southern Comfort AC give me a quote for a similar system. Got back with Mike and had him re-quote with the exact same equipment and services as what Southern Comfort A/C had quoted. He was still higher and I then provided him with his competitors quote. The very first thing he did was attempt to disqualify the quote because it did not state "Sales Tax Included" on the face of the Quote. Per the Texas State Comptroller, residential remodel jobs, of which this is, are not subject to sales tax. I brought this to his attention and he still denied the competitors bid. BTW I went with Southern Comfort A/C. Not people of their word. read more

I love the crew at Covenant!! My a/c went out last night, & they came out today & got it running again, & checked out the coolant pressures & health of the various components. He thinks I'll need a couple additional parts (compressor run & start caps) next season, but it will work well for now. I'm an electrical engineer & I agree with his assessment :-). I don't understand other comments about a lack of expertise, because this crew is sharp! This is absolutely the WORST hvac company I have ever dealt with!! First of all, the secretary did not even know Georgetown was in Texas! It's 15 minutes from their location. I should have known something wasn't right when I had to call three times to get an appointment scheduled. After all that, the tech still couldn't show up on time and made no apologies. He also tracked dirt all over the house when he needed to use the restroom. He made no attempt to clean up or say anything either. As the owner of many rental properties, I am familiar with hvac and told the tech what was wrong. After a long and fumbling diagnostic period, he finally agreed that I was right in the first place. I asked for a quote for the repair and was astonished when he said that he didn't want to do the repair because he "could make more profit by selling an entire new unit" UNBELIEVABLE!!! After packing his tools, he said that he would call me later that day to give me a quote. Meanwhile another company took one phone call to get a quote and they fixed it promptly. I even called back after the repair was done, just to check and always got the "I'll have to ask the owner" response. .It has been over a MONTH and I have still never heard back from this horrible company. read more

Michael Luken was the guy who helped me and he was fantastic! His original quote was a little higher than the other bidders, but I soon learned why. He knows his stuff. He is extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of air conditioning. He responded to questions within MINUTES in most cases. He was extremely professional, honest, sincere, and helpful. He wasn't the lowest bid for the job, but he has a "meet or beat" policy. He actually backed that up and offered to match the lowest bid I had. He didn't even question it. I actually had several contractors bid on my job and Michael knew way more than most (if not all) of them. If you are looking for a contractor for an install, I highly recommend them. read more

Covenant Air Conditioning and Heating installed two commercial air conditioners and we have had multiple issues - some were resolved and many were not. I asked for help getting the air flow set to original specifications and it was not until I talked to a Carrier representative that I found out that it is sometime necessary to change pulley sizes which was never offered as a solution. I finally hired another commercial AC repair service to change pulley sizes. When these technicians went to change the pulleys, they found a wooddruff key and set screw missing in one pulley causing sever misalignment and ultimate belt failure. A set screw was missing in another pulley. Carrier fan unit had fan bearings fail before warranty. Also a wrong motor on one unit. The owner is a likable person but failed to complete the installation to my satisfaction. read more

After paying $860 to service my HVAC, the tech backed his truck into my front yard killing 15 feet of bermuda sod, and then proceeded to drive off. We called to complain and were given the runaround by his supervisor. First he said he would replace it within one business day, then called and said he couldn't find anywhere in Austin that had bermuda sod...really?? The first place I called had some and I gave him their phone number. He never called me back and didn't return my calls. When my wife called, he told her to call the owner. The owner didn't apologize and sent the same tech who ran his truck into my yard to replace the sod with brown, dry, dead looking pieces of bermuda. Appreciate Covenant coming out quickly, but they charged us $180 for a condenser fan motor capacitor (not the motor, just the capacitor). These cost $25 for my specific unit. Since I had already diagnosed the problem to the condenser fan motor and/or capacitor, I had already looked up prices for the items. Unfortunately, Covenant just lost our business going forward. The cost for the capacitor was on top of the service call so that was extra. Today is 8/5/16 and I want to add to my prior review. I received a call from the owner today, on my cell phone, during work hours (had to step out of a meeting to take his call). This is one month after the service which I believed cost too much ($180 for a $25 part). The owner seemed to think that because I chose to have the service done and paid the bill that I had no right to complain about the price. It was hot, the technician had already removed the part before telling me how much it would cost to fix and the weekend was coming up - so yes, I paid the bill because I didn't have time to identify and get someone else to come do the work. I asked the technician to let the owner know I thought the price was exorbitant, but the owner either didn't get the message or chose to ignore the comments until he read the Yelp feedback. He rants at me for several minutes, to the point that I finally had to just hang up on him so I could return to my business meeting. The owner is free to charge whatever he wants and I'm free to complain that I think it is too high. What is unprofessional is to then call the client a month later and complain that a negative review was posted rather than call to understand the concern, and, if he didn't think it was a valid concern, to professionally agree to disagree. He had a chance to potentially avoid another negative review by just not calling or to handle the issue professionally. Unfortunately that didn't happen. So, buyer beware on the front end and if you happen to post a negative review. read more

My AC had started struggling to keep up in the afternoons. I had the thermostat set at 78 and it was barely maintaining a temperature of 83. It just ran and ran. I had a friend recommend Covenant so I gave them a call. The woman who answered the phone was very friendly. I explained what was going on and she made me an appointment. I had asked to be told a window of when I could expect the service technician but didn't receive a call. I called the day of and was given a two-hour window. (I do realize though that it is summer and they are busy so perhaps it slipped her mind.) TJ showed up and he was very nice and polite. He inspected the unit inside and out and hooked up some machines to test the outside unit. He told me that it would need to be replaced but that it could wait until we get through the summer. He pointed out that I had a hole near the top of the inside unit and told me to get more air to the return vent (and even offered to help me move the couch!) He tightened the thermostat to the wall and pronounced it good. Super friendly guy. HOWEVER, the unit continued to struggle in the afternoons to keep up. I called out Carl of Carl's Heating and Air (since I saw that he was local and I like to stay local) -to get a quote for a new unit. He came out free of charge and began inspecting the unit. He called me out to the outside unit and showed me that very little air was coming out. He also showed me how filthy the coils were and packed with debris. He told me too that my fan was sitting too high in the unit to cool the coils. (We just moved into this house in April.) He then dug up my condenser hose and showed me that it was buried and not able to drain properly. I told him I had already had someone out to check on the unit and it was pronounced "good for now". He said he is surprised that none of these issues were caught. I then hired Carl to return later that day to fix what he found. Now, the AC works like a champ! Air is blowing out of the outside unit, the coils are clean, the fan is lowered and best of all it keeps up with the hot afternoons without issue. So, while I liked the employees at Covenant AC, I do question their knowledge of AC units. My unit's problems were obvious and quite simple to fix, so I am surprised it wasn't. read more

As a long-time customer of Covenant A/C & Heat, I am once again blown away by the level of courteousness and professionalism that was displayed by the two technicians that came out to upgrade our duct work and install a new vent to our bedroom. Not only did the technicians perform the work we hired them to do; they went above and beyond their call of duty by caulking the ducts in the attic that the builder failed to caulk as well as making the necessary adjustments to several of the vents throughout the house to ensure that we are getting the maximum benefit from each one. Each time when I don't think that the level of their customer service can get any better, Covenant exceeds my expectation. Whether I am calling for routine maintenance or for an after-hours emergency, I know I can depend on them to take care of us in a timely manner at a very reasonable cost.
