It was a fluke that I happened upon T or C.. And pure luck to have found Sierra Grande. The nicest ladies on earth work here. The tempo of the town will ease you into the near comatose feeling you'll get from the hotel/spa. I got a 90 min aromatherapy massage and 3- 30 min soaks for an unbelievable price. I loved all the tub options, but my late night moonlit private outdoor session capped off an already delicious day. T or C is magic indeed read more

Simple dining room, perfunctory service ( waitress forgot to mention specials to us) . Limited menu - Steaks and bison obviously the stars which we maybe should have sprung for. Chiles rellenos listed as a starter - 2 large chiles - tasty - if you like a very heavy batter - breadlike. Roasted butternut hummous was very nice and well-seasoned Celery salad with feta, walnuts and dates was good but not as exceptional as the ingredient list proffered - but the grilled add-on breast of chicken was terrible. A dried- out piece of chicken served naked on a plate to the side. And no amount of tossing it with the salad (which was a little skimpy on dressing) could render flavor. read more

I would definitely stay here again the rooms are clean but small . The staff is OK enough friendly .The Hot Spring out front was amazing we had a nice soak. Although it's a dollar for every minute you stay in there and there's only one tub outside that sucks. The breakfast is nothing to write home about but the coffee was nice and strong. read more

Wow wow wow! Stayed here for a 2 night getaway. And that was exactly what it was! A get away from reality to an oasis in the dessert. The romantic package is what we reserved and recived a soak each day we were here. Me and my wife had 2 messages on our visit and ate dinner one night and breakfast every morning. Creps,french toast,salad, ribs, and soup! Everything we had was excelent! The staff here is awesome! I cant say enough about how nice every employee here is. I am shocked that this place only has 8 reviews! It definitely seems like one of the nicest places for accomodation and hot springs in T or C (unless I missed something else?).. I just got back from there and we had a fabulous time! I had to call up several times beforehand with various questions/requests.. the people at the front desk were always SO NICE and accommodating! My husband and I were coming straight from our wedding and realized we were going to have our ringbearer/dog with us-!! (HOW did we overlook this beforehand?? Don't ask..) No problem, says Sierra Grande! They allow pets in some of their rooms! We had reserved a honeymoon package which required we stay for two nights, which we had already booked. Unfortunately, my new hubbie came down with a terrible stomach virus right after the wedding and we had to miss the first day/night of our mini-moon! We were already so bummed out, when I remembered you needed to stay there two nights to get the honeymoon package. I called up Sierra Grande and they checked with a manager and got right back to me-- that would be no problem, they said! Love these guys! All the staff were super helpful and friendly from the time we arrived til the time we left. The facilities were clean and rustic-- the perfect medium between a high-end spa and a hippie-fied hot springs hideaway. Our room was simple and nice.. I was a little worried what the "pet room" might be like, but simply lacked a rug over the tiled floor! We woke in the morning to the delicious smell of cinnamon-y muffins, which led us into restaurant area where a little breakfast buffet awaited us-- housemade granola, yogurt, fruit, and a variety of various vegan breads/scones/muffins! They have four different private tubs you can reserve by the hour, and each spa treatment begins with a half hour in the tub (we discovered that a half hour is really the perfect amount of time to soak anyway!) I loved my massage therapist, Laura-- I got two massages from her during our stay. They also carry great products, which are what they use in the rooms as well. The entire atmosphere of the spa is very soothing, with very Native American-flutey atmospheric music playing softly in the background and a candlelit, Southwestern decor. It was the perfect end to our desert wedding! Why did I drop a star, do you ask? Well, just a couple small things: *the water glasses in the rooms are very very teeny and my water bottle didn't fit under the sink. C said he heard the staff offer pitchers of water and glasses to several of the older couples getting spa treatments, but we were never offered anything like that! hmmm... *absolutely zilch AT&T coverage within the hotel. but they do have wireless. *we asked for dinner recommendations and the girl at the desk was quick to hand us two menus, as if they were the only choices-- one was a burger place and the other was Los Arcos, which seemed like the only high end choice. We went with the latter and were less than thrilled with it.. then the next day, we found several other restaurants in town (including one, Casa Bellaluca, which was only a couple blocks from the lodge!) In a town so small, why wouldn't they have all the local menus or at least a listing of all local places? We definitely would have rather eaten dinner at Bellaluca. *our room came with a spring-fed tub, but the spring water was only cold, not hot! (however, there was hot/cold water from pipes as well).. just not sure what the point of a spring-fed tub is if it was only freezing cold water.. But, all in all, we absolutely loved our stayed at Sierra Grande and look forward to returning for anniversaries! :) read more

The spa is high end and the staff is polite and accomodating. The rooms themselves were disappointing. For the price the were small and basic. Poor mattress and pillows, not a comfortable night. The bathroom toilet ran for long periods of time. The shower had warm water but not hot. The shampoo provided was cheap and their was no Conditoner. read more

Went to Sierra Grande this evening for dinner. Only put one star as I had to put something to write a review. To begin with wait staff was very slow. They only had 6 bottles of wines to select from and apparently at 7:30 on Saturday they are out of one of there highest priced wines. Ordered the fried shrimp appetizer and that was a misnomer as the shrimp came out breaded and raw. Then talked to waitress who finally came by about the issue and it she was like "OK". Paid for appetizer and ran out as fast as possible. You would figure for a Ted Turner property there would be a higher level of standards but guess not. I would recommend to everyone thinking about trying this place Sonic down the street would be a better and safer choice read more

My boyfriend took me on a surprise weekend May 16-18th. I really had no idea what he had planned. Only the greatest trip for us. He took me to Sierra Grande Lodge. This place was wonderful. From the moment we walked in the customer service was impeccable. All 3 women greeted us immediately and one of them said something like we're glad you're here. How awesome. :) One of the ladies said we would like to schedule you for a soak tonight. I was like a soak. What is this place? They gave me the run down. My boyfriend had planned a SPA weekend for us. They gave us a tour and asked if we needed help with our luggage (we didn't). We went for a soak and all I can say is AWESOME. This was Friday night. I had the best night sleep. On Saturday, we scheduled a couples massage. The ladies that gave us our massages were great. Charles had Jodi and I had Tina. Tina was rad. The pressure was just perfect. She even talked to me before she started to let me know that if I had any problems to let her know immediately. I didn't. My only problem was that the massage didn't last longer. :) Both ladies were just lovely. Later I had a body wrap with Tina again. I had never had a body wrap. This was wonderful. Again, my only complaint, not long enough. I had the 1 hour, but next time I will get the 1 1/2. We also had a couple more soaks in the mineral water. Saturday was just a great relaxing day. I took 3 naps. Sadly, we left on Sunday. We had one more soak and off we went. We will definitely be back before the end of the year. I want to try the outside soak at night looking up at the stars and the moon. The breakfast was continental. My only complaint was that there wasn't a restaurant on site for maybe a lite lunch or a lite dinner. I would have liked to have stayed on the premises instead of going into town. Tranquil, beautiful and restful. I don't know if there is something in the air from the hot springs that run through this hotel but I've never felt so peaceful and content staying away from home. First we felt so welcomed by the front desk staff when we arrived a few hours early. One of the staff gave us a quick tour of the spa area and explained how we had two 30 minute tub times with our room. They then checked to see if our room was ready without us asking. To sum up, the staff anticipates what you may need which is rare and unheard of in NM. I can't emphasize that more. The room and ground were immaculate. There was a small emergency with a gas smell in the kitchen that turned out to be nothing but the staff adequately handled and emergency services was there quickly. The only misstep in my opinion was the lack of amends in the form of an offer of a free glass of wine or entree or something similar for the inconvenience of leaving our room for a bit. The in room tub with spring water was amazing. The room is not super high end but very nice. Tasteful. Complimentary breakfast is awesome There is very little to do in the town. More entertainment at the hotel would be nice. I would have loved a fire in the lobby fireplace or outside in the fire pit as it was very damp and chilly that night. I'm confused as to why that wasn't obvious to the staff? Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good. The menu has lunch available at dinner time which is a less pricey option. The dinner prices are 25-?? But our fish tacos and gourmet Mac and cheese were all we needed. Wine options range from $6 to 15 for a glass. Very reasonable and good variety! read more

This was a gorgeous little spa and lodge tucked away in T or C's historic district. Its not quite off the main drag so kind of tricky trying to find it but once you are there it is pure bliss. I've been to a couple other spas in T or C and i'd say this falls more into the higher end of things. If your looking for an experience this is the place to come. They offer a private tub for a half hour for $30 which seems pricey but once I arrived, they were not particularly busy and I actually got a full hour of soaking. You get your own private suite to soak in with its own shower. I believe they also do have 1 outdoor tub available as well. The ambiance is very relaxing with a southwestern feel. The lodging portion is very quaint and I would actually consider it for a romantic weekend getaway with my husband. They also have a restaurant onsite making it a complete romantic escape. read more

We stayed at the Sierra Grande for two nights last August and let's get this out of the way immediately, the lodging part was stellar and if this review was just about the accommodation, I would have given it five-plus stars. The room was simple, clean, comfortable, thoughtfully appointed and quiet. The hotel staff was attentive and worked hard to please. They were especially nice about our puppy, who was traveling with us, which we greatly appreciated. The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room was healthy and plentiful. The mineral water tubs, included in the price of the rooms are a fun hot springs experience. All good so far, but we knew we were pushing it when we decided to add massages to the agenda. We both know a good massage from a bad and having been disappointed in the past more often than not, neither of us go down that road without asking a lot of questions and making a lot of clarifications. Specifically, we both need the masseuse to be capable of giving a strong, deep tissue massage, a skill that is in surprisingly short supply. I spoke to the spa booker at length about this. She assured me that if we booked deep tissue massages, we would get just that. She sounded so convincing that we bumped up the time to 90 minutes for each massage and I believed her. I mean Ted Turner owns this place and he wouldn't settle for a bad massage, would he? Cutting to the chase -- his massage was light and feathery -- despite asking the masseuse to step it up a number of times. Mine was a bit better than that, not much, but the kicker was that my 90 minute massage, bought and paid, for clocked in at a really skimpy 70 minutes. I was shorted a good 20 minutes. We mentioned our dissatisfaction at the desk, and were told by the night clerk to talk to management when we checked out the next day. We did and were told they couldn't do anything about it but would talk to the manager later that day (we would be long gone) and they would contact us. That never happened and we're both left somewhat puzzled at the shoddy outcome. At the very least, we should have been refunded for the substantially shorter massage. We both ended up feeling like that $300 ($150 per) could have been better spent elsewhere. Ugh. read more

We were so appreciative of the staffs willingness to make accommodations for us and how they welcomed us. I had a fantastic morning soak in the outdoor private tub this AM as well as a fantastic deep tissue massage! the room was nice, great giant tub and comfy bed. For Christmas, my husband and I got a couple's massage at the Sierra Grande Lodge and Health Spa. Making the reservation was a breeze, everything about the experience was relaxing and effortless. We began with a 1 hour soak in a private room, towels and robes were provided, as well as a nice big glass of cold water. The massage was great and also lasted 60 minutes. Overall, I know they are a bit pricey, but we would definitely recommend their spa services. read more

Excellent customer service. This is definitely the most upscale lodging in town, but not the whole country. The rooms were comfortable, if plain. Let's just say the photos of the exterior do it much justice. My partner felt the overall ambiance was slightly underwhelming. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The soaks were relaxing and everything seemed very clean. It was a wonderful experience. Keep in mind that if you are coming from out of town, Truth or Consequences is a very small town with limited dining options. That being said, the restaurant in the hotel is actually very good!! We ate there each morning and a few evenings as well, and almost everything we ordered was extremely delicious, 5-star quality. In addition, it was a pleasant surprise that the included breakfast for hotel guests is full-service in the restaurant with a server, and we were very happy with all of their made-to-order selections including huevos rancheros, yogurt with berries, freshly made daily juice option, etc, etc. Each staff member really went above and beyond our expectations in friendliness and accommodation. We happened to run into the manager off the premises, and she actually started making phone calls to inquire about the hours of operation of various restaurants when we asked for a dinner recommendation- she went out of her way to make sure we had accurate information to make plans! The other staff at the front desk were always attentive and truly made us feel special. We were very appreciative for that. The massages weren't much to speak of, I'd opt for a facial if I were to indulge in a spa treatment again. read more

Came to town to visit the in-laws. Stayed at the lodge & it was AMAZING! Beautiful, comfortable rooms and facilities. Great fitness room, delicious meals, and the staff service was top notch. The hotel doesn't have a ton of guest rooms, so the staff are able to give personal attention to all the guests. The mineral soaks were magical (we slept so well that night!) and the massages in the spa facility were fantastic. I'm looking forward to visiting again during a cooler season so that we can check out the walking trails nearby (was way too hot in June). Two "soaks" (one soak the day you arrive and one soak the day you leave) are guaranteed and included in your room cost. There is one outside bath (the rest are indoors). This place is probably the "high end" in town. It is very nice - the facilities are mid to high end by any standard, and the selection spa services available seem very good. My wife enjoyed her massage, and the private soak there was excellent. The quality of facilities, service, and my wife's comments about the massage have earned this place a solid 4 starts IMO. That said, for myself - T or C is not the place to come for a "high-end" like experience - there are many other places for that. Come to T or C and enjoy some of the funky (and cheaper) places with unique owner operated personality, or - have an adventure and spend a night at each :) You won't be dissapointed - I would say this is the nicest place in town, but all depends on what you're looking for! read more

My wife and I have been visiting Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa for six years. We have lived through Sierra Grande with no liquor licence, no restaurant, and various stages of opening/organizing for operations. Today was our 9th or 10th stay at the lodge. Generally, we have had great experiences (which has kept us coming back). However, tonight was a very disappointing experience based on service in the restaurant. It should go without saying that the Sierra Grande restaurant should have the best service of any restaurant in Truth or Consequences (does Ted Turner own any other restaurants in Truth or Consequences?). Bottom line is that it was a typical slow night at the Sierra Grande restaurant with what appreared to be two wait staff (and about 4 total tables to serve) and terribly slow and inattentive service. After having empty drinks for 10 minutes I got up to use the restroom and mentioned to one of the wait staff that my wife and I might like something more to drink. The response was "well, I'll tell your waitress that she needs to visit you" in a flippant and very "you're not my problem" kind of way. Is this the best service you can muster in Truth or Consequences? Is this how the wait staff would treat Ted? We have been loyal to Sierra Grande for 6 years but this episode has caused me to rethink - the Riverbend Resort has a Swimming Pool and Sierra Grande does not - something to think about for the future. read more

The Sierra Grande is a lovely, service-y place to stay. Here's what you should do there: get an ashiatsu treatment. The massage therapist uses her feet to give you a deep, wonderful massage without the guilt of making your therapist wear herself out to provide the pressure you need. We planned a weekend get away for my birthday! The drive from El Paso was only two hours away. The Queen balcony was a great size with a huge bath tub. We booked a transformation package which included a two night stay and two massages and two aromatherapy wraps. We saved money that way. The massage therapist were all great. The cold breakfast was okay. I was expecting much more since everything else was great!!! The bed was really squeeky. But it's totally worth the money and the time. We are definately coming back. We had lunch both days at Hot Stuff a new mexican style of Mexican food. It was great!!!! read more

I stayed at Sierra Grande several years ago and had a nice experience. But a recent visit was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a spa - and I've visited many. The staff was rude and unprofessional. Instead of feeling relaxed and refreshed, I left feeling terrible. At least the property is still in decent condition (which is why I gave this 2 stars instead of 1). I heard that recently there was a change in management, and perhaps that's why there was such a downgrade. You're better off at Blackstone Hot Springs or another one of the cute places in town. read more

Beautiful place, pretty rooms, stellar service. The staff was very friendly but not the weird overly friendly "I can't figure out how to leave the conversation". Very nice continental breakfast, excellent massage therapists, staying in a room there gets you a free, half hour private soak each night. You also get a 30 minute soak with a massage - which makes for an *amazing* massage. Walking distance to Main Street and cute cafes like passion pie cafe and happy belly deli. First floor rooms have in-room hot spring tubs! We stayed over the 4th of July week, and the staff was very helpful in arranging an extra night of stay and last minute couples massage. We really enjoyed getting the last spot to use the outdoor soaking tub and look up at the stars. Rooms are cozy but not too small, with really comfortable beds. The hotel is very quiet, relaxing and peaceful - rock garden, water feature and outdoor tables with birds chirping. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay! read more

What a beautiful oasis Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa is in the epicenter of Funk known as Truth or Consequences, NM! Long known as a hot springs destination, now there is a beautifully appointed historic lodge where someone who wants to be pampered may indulge themselves. Quiet and comfortable rooms with soaking tubs sized for two (most are not piped with mineral water); the bedding is luxurious, and feather pillows are available upon request. Back facing rooms overlooking a rock garden are more private. Front facing rooms have access to common outdoor space which is great for a group of friends or during a slow but sunny and warm period of time. Spa facilities are spotlessly clean, peaceful and spacious. Technicians are friendly and capable. The large soaking tub is big enough to float in and beautifully tiled. There is a sweet outdoor pool as well, perfect for star gazing. The extraordinary breakfasts which are included with a room and access to internationally acclaimed Chef Tatsu's Restaurant at Sierra Grande are worth the price of admission. Hotel staff are cheerful, responsive and accommodating. Leave your electronics at home as cell service is sketchy, and though there is WiFi on site in the common areas, this is a great opportunity to thoroughly relax in the lap of luxury. Not a solitary misstep at this place. And that is the truth. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic (1929) Lodge owned by Ted Turner. Included in your room price is a private soak in mineral waters and a gourmet breakfast. There is an option to book various tours of one of two ranches owned by Ted Turner. We took the Ranch Heritage tour of Ladder Ranch and were fortunate to see bison, wild turkey, javelina, deer and quail. The on site restaurant and spa are both wonderful. If you are going to stay anywhere in Truth or Consequences, you must stay at the Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa. The hotel is about as warm and inviting as they come. With a staff that is as friendly as can be and a manager that will bend over backwards to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, the lodge was an experience I will not forget. We traveled there with a group of 4 on a business related trip and I can say with certainty that it was the most relaxing business trip I have ever been on. read more

My wife and I spent a great night at the lodge to celebrate my birthday. The building is historic yet it is updated and clean, really nice facilities with equally capable and pleasant staff. Our room was a 2nd floor balcony room with plenty of space and a door out to the balcony that faces Turtleback Mountain and a super view. Both the restaurant and the spa were great! We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it was excellent. I had a house salad and steel head trout as an entree and my wife had a fall kale salad and a Turner Ranches bison tenderloin; both were great. A continental breakfast is included in the cost of the room and it was both excellent and a lot more substantial in terms of food than a typical continental breakfast. I had a bagel with cream cheese and lox (the lox was unusually wonderful) and a fruit plate, and my wife had steel cut oatmeal and a cinnamon roll that melted in the mouth. Coffee was great too. Finally, a private mineral bath was also included in the room price and it was unusually good as the water wasn't too hot at 104 F and the water quality was superb with absolutely no sulfur or other bad smells. Really, we felt pampered and our experience was five star. read more
