We have been using Sierra Hills regularly for a few years now and I truly appreciate the efforts Danielle goes to. We have a Pomeranian whose fur is prone to matting due to its thickness (similar with a lot of thick, long haired dogs) and she is always accommodating with recommendations on the best cut method for him; she has never done something that an owner does not ok first. Buster absolutely loves going to the groomer (he can be a bit much in terms of grumpiness, but he truly enjoys getting to play with the other dogs). Danielle will also point out any ailments your dog may have when she recognizes them. During an ear cleaning, she brought to our attention that Buster more than likely had an ear infection which we didn't know about since he wasn't shaking his head or anything. This prompted us to take him to the vet where they confirmed he did, in fact, have an ear infection; without Danielle bringing it to our attention we would not have known! read more

This place is located in a small strip mall, just past the main shopping center on Missouri Flat Road. Easy to find and park. I called in the afternoon to make an appointment for a nail trim, and she told me I could come in the same evening. Cool! I brought my Chihuahua mix in that evening and they were working on a couple other small dogs so I sat down to wait for a few minutes. There were two women working - one seemed like the owner. The other woman came to help me. She asked me if I could hold my dog. I was a bit taken aback because I've never been asked to hold my own dog at the groomers - he's an asshole, so I take him to the groomers for his nails so I DON'T have to deal with him. Ok but whatever, I grab him, he's yelping like she's killing him (she's not) and snapping like he wants to kill her (he won't). She brings me a towel so I can "wrap his head in it," and asks the other woman "is today over yet?" I feel like 95% of groomers have a muzzle or restraining table on hand, or perhaps be trained in dog handling or something. I don't have very high standards, but this struck me as super unprofessional. I'm sorry you hate your job and my dog, but that's why I'm paying and you're not doing this for free. Anyway, the other woman kept telling her to just "get it done" and "hurry up because the longer you take the madder they get." She finally got it done. I paid my $10 and left. She told me that if I got a bath as well, it would be $20 and then I wouldn't have to hold him myself. I don't like leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but my experience is my experience. It seems like plenty of others have had perfectly fine experiences, so perhaps it was just a bad day for them. The nails are trimmed, but I'm definitely going to try to find another groomer, or just do it myself anyway and save the $10. I've been to plenty of places that take him back, and lie to me when they bring him out and say he "did great." I prefer this. read more

My little maltese used to come out of this place looking like a king.... Used to. But after 3 horrible haircuts in a row, I had to move on. The last time he went I said I wanted his hair a little shorter then it was. They shaved him bald. Bald. He didn't have any matting...no need to shave. He is 4lbs...he freezes in 70 degree weather. Poor thing. Don't know what happened to the place. Bummer. read more

I love Danielle she's super sweet and always treats my animals with love and they look great every time. My Pomeranian loved her sooo much and my Rottweiler gets excited to go when she gets into the parking lot. Danielle always asks about my kids and how I'm doing she's a nice person and a great groomer whether she's doing a Pom shave down, rotty shave down or just giving them a bath and blow out. read more

Sierra Hills Dog Grooming was recommended to me by our veterinary. I took my poodle-bichon to Danielle and was amazed. She is an artist when it comes to grooming. Today I came a little too early to pick him up and I got to see Danielle cutting his hair and styling it. I could actually see how professional and talented she truly was. My little guy was so happy and at ease with her. I was happy that I got to watch. I left with a handsome and happy little guy. We finally found our forever groomer! Thank you Danielle. read more

I moved up to this area 4 years back. I had a long haired dog and a lab retrieve mix. I get my dogs shaved once a year for stickers in summer. After failing with a couple different groom shops I found Danielle and her small shop. She has one other employee that I have seen and they seem to work seamlessly together. My dogs no longer come back scared and looking like a lawn mower ran over them. It's gotten to the point that I bring the dogs in just for a bath and clean up throughout the year because they love her so much. She's amazing and I love how quickly I can get my appointment. My dad just brought my dogs back and I took them for a long walk, after we got back inside they were on my bed and I noticed blood on my sheets, I checked out my dogs and one of their nails was cut way too short and he was bleeding very badly. I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially before calling the establishment, but I'm not from here and there's nothing theyll be able to do to fix it. My poor little buddy is still bleeding and I'm very upset. Idk if this was a one time mistake, but I see this place has a lot of other 1 star reviews that are hidden so I'll leave it 1 star. read more

My sweet, mellow older dog got a double eye infection after his grooming appt, which included mingling with other dogs AND my friends dog got a paw infection the same week, so can't recommend this groomer in all good conscience. read more

I have been bringing "Rocket" my black toy poodle to Danielle for over 9 years! I have NEVER had anything but good luck. What is very strange is that the review I wrote a few years ago was deleted, along with all the other GOOD reviews I saw on this business. TRUST me, she's awesome. I disagree with the other post, I bring my Maltese here and he loves it as much as I do. The owner is personable, friendly and compassionate with the animals. They are not crated during their visits and are able to run and play all day. She asks how you would like your dog's hair cut and will fix anything you do not like. I recommend giving Sierra Hills a try, I was reluctant after reading the other review but glad I did! read more

This was my first time AND last! I asked for a "summer cut" which should have been a standard cut...but when I came to pick up my 2 dogs...one was shaved all the way down to her pink skin with razor burn and nicks all over her body and half of her whiskers cut off. And, the other one would walk a few steps and then sit down - not normal behavior. It got so bad that I had to take her to the vet and he said that the groomer cut too short and caused female irritation. So, this was the most expensive dog salon visit I have ever had! And, to top it off...I was quote one price and charged a higher price. I should have known from the reaction of the dog that was being worked on that this was not the place for us. read more

As some one how knows this place well, because I am been going there for 4 years, I have to say Danielle can do amazing hair cuts. That is after you get past her rude attitude, her weird and off the wall beliefs she pushes on ever one and lack of care for running a proper business. I have seen her be rude to customers because they disagree with religion and politics, I have seen her yell at the employees unnecessary and I have seen her leave a dog on the table before! But after all the hair cuts are amazing some one just needs to put her in her place about manners and business ethics! I just try to get in and out as fast as possible, and try to say as little as possible. read more

Took my Maltese here once, they did an okay job. She had a couple cuts but despite that, I took her back a second time. I told them normal Maltese cut, they said okay and I didn't think they'd have a problem. When I went to pick her up, they had had cut her in a schnauzer cut. I was completely baffled. She said someone had called saying "make sure you do a schnauzer cut" she was confused. Yet there was a schnauzer being groomed at the same time. Isn't that just common sense? She gave me a discount. I should have not been charged at all. I refuse to take my dog back there ever again. This lady is a complete idiot. If you want your dog to be in good hands, definitely do NOT come here. I am in awe of the poor treatment, quality and service I was provided. I take great pride in my poodle mix looking a certain way. I grew out his hair for months so I could get his hair shaped a certain way. When I showed the groomer a picture of the haircut she said" oh I can do that cut, that's not a groomed dog, i'll just keep it ugly". I confirmed with her that although she didn't like the style, she was going to follow through with it. She also mentioned it was going to be a little extra charge $55. I called to check in on my dogs completion time, at this time he had already been there for 6 hours. She told me she didn't start the cut yet but would be ready in 30 mins.IWhat I came back to was terrible. I came back to a completely shaved dog. I commented on how short it was and she said" yes It's much shorter than last time" and proceeded to tell me what a horrible dog owner I was for wanting to keep it long. So she basically lied on the cut we agreed on. Not only that, she raised the price when I paid, EVEN after she said she was charging me extra for keeping it long. Anyways $60 dollars later and a Petco quality, quick and easy haircut is what I was left with. read more

ive taken my dog there twice, thinking that maybe the first time was just a bad day for groomer/owner, but unfortunately, its always a bad day. owner is rude, condenscending and has no problem telling you that she thinks you dont care for your pet. if i didnt care for my dog, i wouldnt go to get him shaved for summer, right? all my dogs are extremely spoiled, fed the best of food, loved on more than one can image and for me to be told by some lady who doesnt even know who i am, my family or how we live, to make a statement of such disrespect, is wrong. i will NEVER bring my pet there again. should have stayed with groomimg galleria by rite aid by placerville drive. at least there they dont treat you like trash!!! read more
