I stopped by the front desk to apply for a library card. The staff who helped me was a very nice lady. It took less than five minutes to get a card, Voila! There is an adjacent parking lot. Street parking is available too. The kids section looks so cozy. In general, the library has very inviting and relaxing vibes. They have a wide selection of books and genres. Online catalog is available in which you can look for books and place hold on items. The staff will notify you when the book is available. You can check out up to one hundred items total. This includes books, DVD's , Music CD's , board games, video game, and steam kit. The library also offers E- Books , E- Audio Books, E-Resources of magazines, music, TV shows & movies. As it is said "Books are uniquely portable magic". So, if you are planning to spend a quality time with a portable magic, Hastings Branch Pasadena Public Library is your perfect destination.

Hastings Branch Pasadena Public Library had good reviews, so I drove over. The small parking lot was free, but the access was a bit challenging. The left turn into the driveway was kind of awkward. When I got to the front door, there was a sign that said they were currently closed for renovations. Shucks. I peeked in the windows and it looked like a pleasant environment. Even the grounds outside were welcoming! I'll return in a couple of months!

The look and feel of the library is very modern and clean. Inside is quiet - I barely heard anyone make sounds. I came on a Friday afternoon and most tables were occupied by folks studying or working. I prefer working on the tables facing the windows, as it's spacious and has easy access to charging outlets. There's also a few meeting rooms. The book selection is vast for both the adult and kids section. Lastly, I can tell the staff here is diligent. I saw the librarians organized books and folks in the front desks doing book check-outs. Overall, this is a fantastic library and I'll definitely be back.

This is a great place to study the Urantia book and discuss it openly with other students of the…read morebook and truth in general. All questions are welcomed and honestly answered. This study group has been meeting here since 1984. We meet the first three Mondays of every month, taking a break on the fourth Monday. If there are five Mondays in any given month, we skip the fourth and meet on the fifth Monday as well. We take a break around 8:30 PM for snacks and tea, then resume the reading of the book until the remainder of the session. This study group reads the book in a linear fashion. Currently, we're reading the Life and Times of Jesus. We try to at least read one paper per session, but sometimes we get to discussing the book or other subjects that we might not even get through a paper. However, there are no rules as to how we go about studying the book. We are all searching and whatever we need to discuss, whether it be the current paper or world affairs, it doesn't really matter. I find it exciting to be able to openly discuss ideas or contemplate theories based on things I've read in the book. Since there is no organized religion based around the book, we are all equal in our approach to understanding the book. Meaning that everyone's point of view is valid. That is why we openly discuss the book, even in mid-sentences of the reading of the book. I cherish the ability and the privilege to have ( in my opinion) such a high degree of learning, as far as spirituality and the approach to God. No where else have I felt so free to explore these ideas without someone trying to impose their point of view or dictate a form a hierarchy already established. We all come with the understanding that we are all children of God and all humans on this planet are our brothers and sisters. Therefore, no one is above another, for God is no respecter of men. One of my favorite quotes of the Urantia Book says.... "And for a long time there will live on earth those timid, fearful, and hesitant individuals who will prefer thus to secure their religious consolations, even though, in so casting their lot with the religions of authority, they compromise the sovereignty of personality, debase the dignity of self-respect, and utterly surrender the right to participate in that most thrilling and inspiring of all possible human experiences: the personal quest for truth, the exhilaration of facing the perils of intellectual discovery, the determination to explore the realities of personal religious experience, the supreme satisfaction of experiencing the personal triumph of the actual realization of the victory of spiritual faith over intellectual doubt as it is honestly won in the supreme adventure of all human existence--man seeking God, for himself and as himself, and finding him." The store staff lady was a little bit salty and reluctantly helpful (stood there and answered questions, but did not have any suggestions when asked or exhibit friendliness and eagerness to help), but facilitated my final purchases quickly. There was not a lot in the store for people who were 100% blind, which surprised me. She gave me the name of an external resource. This was my first time visiting the Braille Institute and it's pretty cool that they offer the resources they do. It's tough that there are not many places where you can walk in and talk to people other than the library. You have to make appointments. Heard good things about the classes - tai chi, jewelry, social, orientation and mobility, etc. I saw opportunities to attend live author readings that were spooky for Halloween, Looking into volunteer opportunities.
