I have purchased many plants, trees and cactus over the years with no issues. However, two weeks ago, I bought two $25 cactuses. One is doing great but the other started rotting and actually leaned to the side quickly. Both cactus planted near each other, both had same amount of water and sun light. Tried to return but was denied saying there is no warranty. Sadly, this will be a deal breaker moving forward. This place has lot my business after spending hundreds/thousands $ over the years, all over a $25 cactus. read more

Went to Sierra Vista growers for the first time yesterday. It was a long way in the middle of farmland and now I know where the corn maze place is. It seemed very big but their selection was limited, maybe because of the weather/season. They had a sign limiting purchases to 5 per customer because of the recent freeze. I asked for yellow bells that I had seen at Eastside Discount Nursery and they said theirs wasn't ready yet. The yellowbells were still in their greenhouse and not rooted yet. They did have some gorgeous blooming roses. I think that the difference is that they actually grow their own plants in the greenhouses versus other nurseries that might buy plants and resell them there. That's the impression I got from asking about their plants. That would explain the higher pricing and limited stock. That would also explain why they have healthier looking and more varieties of plants native to the area. I really like that they had very complete signs about the different types of plants and how to care for them. Everyone I spoke to is also very knowledgeable. They have a lot of staff roaming around. ‍ I left with just one item, which I thought was fairly priced at $20 for a gal bucket. It was a Diaminita and native to the Chihuahuan desert. Limited selection of ground covers. Rows and rows of geranium varieties. Prices are a bit high. Spent awhile searching for plabts since we drove in from Cruces - s h oulfve stayed in town and shopped our local nursery. Took our selection $165 to find out they charge 4% to use my cc. Thievery! They don't ofer a 4% discount for cash or debit. Definitely won't be back. read more

Sierra Vista was recommended to me by a Master Gardener . I was looking for deer resistant plants and I asked the lady at the counter. She handed me a list of plants that meet my needs. She then called Max to guide me. He was SO helpful to me and pointed me in the right direction . I appreciate the time that he spent with me as I was really lost looking at so much of what they had. This place is on the outskirts of El Paso. This Nursery is great due to their extensive selection of indoors and outdoors plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, dirt, pots and related items. They got carts different sizes available for your needs. Great parking lot and lots of organic options. Attentive and amable staff, they will gladly answer any questions and/or you advice. Their prices are way lower than anywhere else in a 50 mile radius. read more

As long as we are stationed here, this is were I will ALWAYS go for plants. Their staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and I really appreciated the one on one help. Being new to the desert heat makes it extra difficult to make sure you get the right plants/ flowers for your planter box! I originally bought plants at Lowe's and they barely made it one afternoon in the sun. I won't make that mistake again. So I decided to check out Sierra Vista Growers and so happy I did! They are worth the little drive from El Paso. You won't find a bigger selection or quality than this. Thanks for all the help! I wasn't impressed. Ok, I have to say they have a lot of beautiful plants. However, the staff wasn't really attentive or friendly. They saw us walking around and didn't even say hello or anything. You know maybe something like, "Hello, let me know if you need anything or we have this or that special." Nada. I'm not saying I'd want someone hovering over us but it's common courtesy to at least say hello and/or welcome. We saw a lady hiding around but she didn't say anything. Another thing, my boyfriend was looking at some plants and...that's when an employee finally speaks up. The employee said you're not allowed over here, sir! Whatever... Going to this place is also out of my way so there's also that. Had the service been good, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Some of the trees are $300! Are you kidding me? There were a few annuals that were reasonably priced, around $2 each. I was getting frustrated with the service and hot weather so I told my boyfriend I was going to the car. I think he was interested in buying some plants but I told him most were expensive and we left. I don't think I'd come back. read more

Just on a whim my girlfriend (the other half of Ambrosia) and her parents decided to take the trip to Sierra Vista Growers. I thought it would be a great opportunity to take some photos (I use my iPhone for the Yelp photos) and learn something new. I wasn't sure what to expect since I have never really had a green thumb nor ever been anywhere other than a Home Depot to even look at plants to purchase. Upon arrival I understood why this is the mecca of plants, flowers and trees for this region of the Southwest. Not being of the horticultural mindset after a few moments walking around even I knew this place has to be the end all for any search for any type of plant that the Southwest can muster to sustain. Outdoor plants, indoor plants, veggies, fruits, flowers and trees are ready for purchase and the friendly staff is more than ready to help anyway they can. I did not walk out purchasing anything but it has definitely sparked my interest and who knows, maybe I too will eventually have that green thumb. So next time you are on a weekend cruise whine tasting or heading for a late lunch in Mesilla I urge you to stop by Sierra Vista Growers and just walk around in awe of the many plants they have to offer. Purchased $300 of fall plants today. After checking out, I asked for plastic to place on the floor board and other areas of the car because the plants were damp from watering. The lady wanted 50 cents per sheet. I understand the need to pay for rolls of plastic, but really? This should be a courtesy to patrons I would think. Times are just not the same. Petty, but disappointed. My rating is based on the service and the attitude of the clerk who was stoic and dismissive. read more

The few times that I visited Siera Vista Growers I had wonderful experience with all the different types of plants and flowers they had on hand. Understanding that plants are seasonal makes a big difference when you are planning on buying plants, vegetables, tree's and so forth. So do your homework before you plan on buying plants and tree's so that your are not disappointed and enjoy the view of what they have to offer. read more

Plants are over priced, they're not exactly close by, and most of their staff is very rude and not helpful at all. The lady at the front desk is ALWAYS rude to us. (We won't be coming anymore) We just wanted to get a couple of plants and she ignored us when we tried to get her attention. Seemed annoyed when we were asking for more information about the plants and was very rude when we eventually checked out. This is not the kind of person that should be at the front desk. Also most of the staff that we talked to outside seemed like they didn't want to talk to us at all. They were very short and just went about watering the plants and such. There was one woman that was very kind and helpful and knew a lot about the plants and offered to help us more. There was another woman in the greenhouse that was just watching us walk around, pretty creepy and then told us not to walk past a certain point where there were many plants and no sign saying it was off limits or anything. Overall it was a bad experience. It's sad to see such a beautiful place with such an ugly staff. Horrible attitudes and rude comments ruined the whole experience. read more

Big selection and decent prices. I'm not a green thumb so I really appreciated Max helping me out with explaining how to care for the apple tree I purchased. Helpful staff and the drive there is beautiful too. Love the area it's in also. Now hopefully I can keep my tree alive through fall and winter. After a month it's been doing very well! read more

I paid my first visit to Sierra Growers yesterday afternoon, and was beyond surprised and pleased with the selection, ambiance and assistance provided throughout the property. The pricing was competitive with Lowes/Home Depot/etc, so I didn't hesitate to purchase a variety of plants with confidence. There is a true local and warm atmosphere there, not to mention the beautiful drive to get there made it all worth it. read more

Whoever they get their sod from are the worst. They delivered the sod to our house sometime between 8am and 11am. Did they call my husband to let him know? Or even my door bell considering that I'm actually home? No. It's been sitting in the sun for who knows how long and I couldn't see it from my front window. Terrible terrible customer service. The manager at Sierra Vista Growers wasn't helpful at all. She was actually kind of rude. I had planned on driving to this nursery, way out in Anthony, from my home in Far East El Paso, to buy more plants. But I won't now. This is completely unacceptable on the part of SVG and whatever terrible grower they get their sod from. (The sod actually might be nice, I don't know, we haven't laid it yet.) read more

Called to ask about their cherry trees. Who answered didn't know there was more than one variety. Spoke to the manager who assured me someone would email me pictures in the morning. Told her trying to get email from them for the last 2 years and nothing. She assured they would. Lunch time next day...Nothing. Called again. Was told no trees left. After prompting, 3 left. He called back 1 minute later and said to shop elsewhere and hung up. Through last 4 years I've bought roughly 40 or more trees from them. Trying for 5 damn trees. They are rude and liars. read more

I love coming to Sierra Vista. They have great variety and prices. Great customer service too. I have visited several times and every time I've had a great experience. Their plants are of great quality since they actually survive in my backyard (I'm really bad gardener) I used to buy from Lowe's or Home Depot and my plants always died. I've bought fruit trees and grapes from them in the past. Service isn't bad if you go in person and try to get past the lady at the front.She can get rude at times. I called a couple of times, only to have the calls dropped. Called on a Thursday a week ago asking for info on trees. The person answering the phone didn't speak English too well. She said they were busy, give my number and they would call the next Monday. I asked to speak to a manager. When I finally got a manager, she said she was in a hurry and the call got dropped again. It used to be a nice place, but not anymore...It's a shame. They used to have better staff. Maybe they're doing so well, they don't need the business. Side bar: Cherry trees DO VERY WELL in El Paso. This is a long drive for most shoppers as the nursery is way out in the countryside. Variety was good, plants for the most part looked very good. I went in there to buy a potted live christmas tree. I found one of the largest trees I could and purchased it. I was told it has a 1 year warranty. We kept the tree on display for just a few weeks inside then moved it out for planting. It was already failing and drying out. Went to take it out of the pot and found the huge 7' tree had a fist-sized rootball in the massive, heavy pot of soil. Still planted it, watered, but the tree quickly died. I went to return the tree, a one hour drive. Had the receipt. Was told by the staff that I would not get a refund, but rather, could get 50 percent of the value of the tree towards another tree. That is not what I call a warranty. I did not want another tree that I would have to pay more $$ for and it would likely die. So I just left. Wasted gas, wasted time, dead tree. Beware of Sierra Vista Growers for their sub-par return policy. It is better to shop at Lowes or Home Depot with a REAL one year warranty read more
