I was there for a diabetic eye exam and to check on a YAG laser procedure I was told I might need. It was the way it was done that I objected to. The technician did not identify her role and did not say that if she did an exam, she would be charging me. They had me do a whole bunch of stuff and frankly I don't know what was supposedly the refraction. The ophthalmologist did many of the same things. I got the impression that money was the big priority in this office.

So I decided that I'd never let anyone do that anymore. But I needed a check up. I had an appointment for January 16th and needed to change it asap. I've been calling for weeks and they won't answer. There gonna want to charge me for missing my appointment but why should I pay if they won't answer. I literally called 15 times today. I called Tuesday. I called the week before that. Called a few weeks prior and reached the answering service and they just told me to call back. I called another time and it was on a hold status flow almost 20 mins.... You know... until it was after 4 so no one would answer. It's like being held hostage. The worst. I even tried the mass texting they do for marketing and can't get through that way either. How can someone give a good rating if they never answer.

The receptionist who answered the call and helped book my appointment was extremely pleasant and thorough answering my questions about insurance coverages. She was able to accommodate my appointment request very easily and we got to see the doctor in just a few days. The office was very spacious and airy, with a very big waiting area. We were immediately helped to register as new patients and were on our way to get eye exams with Dr. Derdova. She was so nice and very thorough in all her explanations, and so patient/careful with everything. They have a large staff at the office and everyone we met was super nice and patient. The staff was also able to walk us through the insurance coverage for frames and helped us get the best deal on frames and lenses. I highly recommend coming to see Dr. Derdova for any eye care needs and for all their beautiful frame selections!

They then asked if I wanted to submit the charge to Medicare, I agreed. Medicare did not cover this service, which Im sure they knew Medicare wouldn't, then they sent me a bill for $160. When I asked why they said because Medicare did not pay, I explained that I was quoted $114 and paid that amount. They then said that if they didn't submit the charge to Medicare I would only have had to pay the quoted price, but because they submitted it and Medicare refused, I was now responsible for an additional $160. It makes absolutely no sense, I refused to pay but they keep sending me a bill every month.
